Seems to work alright so far. Free-for-all feels pretty good. 8 players able to pick whoever they want, your success or failure is up to you. Top 4 counts as a win, so that's good.

4v4 is kind of weird. Seems to be roughly the same 6 characters every game, and one-hit-kill characters like Hanzo or Widowmaker can be really frustrating if they're good. Healers feel near useless on that front, most of them don't heal fast enough to matter. Mercy does, but then if feels like you're down a person since she isn't shooting if healing. If a team is sticking together well they can get a ton of momentum, as spawning often spreads your team out.

Junkrat feels really strong now, at least in Deathmatch. His two mines can separate a team fast and burn through 200 health characters, and his Ultimate is way better with the speed boost.

 
Don't know if anyone else has played the Halo Online mod ElDorito, but apparently their next update is going to add rotation snapping and magnets into Forge like Halo 4 and 5 has, along with classic Halo 3 stuff like dual wielding. I haven't played in months but I'm going to check it out again. Unfortunately it looks like the overall experience isn't much more user friendly still, and I think that's keeping the playerbase low, but maybe it's keeping them off of Microsoft's radar too.

In other Halo modding news, it seems the fantastic full game mod of SPV3 finally release in the last week or two. It takes Halo CE and basic rebuilds it from the ground up, adding tons of new features from other games and the expanded lore, on top of new areas and new assets everywhere. Silent Cartographer was put out as a demo like a year ago, and they just finished the full release. Going to download that and try to get through it this week.

 
Heh...turns out I owned a few of the indie games on the 360 that I'd completely forgotten about. Avatar Warfare, CastleMiner, CastleMiner Warfare, CastleMiner Z, Cthulhu saves the world, and Deadburg.

Looks like my 45 minutes of logged in viewing time was all for naught. Would have wanted the WoT dlc the most.

Love my TB XOFours I got when Sears did that firewall. First headset, but it's comfy and gives great sound.

Super late reply, you can tell the semester has started.

Was it included with new copies, or on disc? Because I have an ultra-used copy. For $2, if i love the game enough that isn't a huge amount to spend for more content.

This week's XBL Rewards Throwback Thursday game is Dead Space 3.  Spend $20, get $4 in credits back. Game was on sale for $7.99 back in June, $6.59 back in May.

Would love to see what the actual sales numbers are from this "promotion".

The rewards program is never that great, but these Throwback Thursdays have been laughably bad. Probably doesn't help that the Microsoft Rewards Program isn't run by Microsoft directly but some 3rd party called HelloWorld, Inc.

Played the game up until 3AM last night, lol fun stuff. The freebies that they give you don't hurt either and it's nice they added backpack and armory storage because I can see those filling up fast. Also crazy how every item is upgradable, every hero is too of course but also the amount you can craft in this game (and thus needing to find the crafting material) is insane.

I want to know how do you cancel a building piece or just erase something? I had a mission where I needed to defend the Atlas Generator or whatever. Another player joined my game and then proceeded to build too much and we missed the bonus by having 1 piece over the recommended limit. Eh, I still dominated using Pistol, Shotgun, Bazooka, Grenade.

Stopped by Target today. I found a Winter Forces controller on clearance for ~$35 and Mafia 3 Deluxe edition for $19.99. Total came to around $58. Not a bad haul if I do say so myself.

Well, I turned one NES game into a PS4, Uncharted 4, and $40 cash. I turned the rest into 12 games, 2 of which will hopefully be going to Gamestop for around $120 this weekend. I may have been able to get an X if I was patient enough for the local stores to get more good trades, but as is I'll be about halfway there still, while also getting a new console with a bunch of exclusives for it.

Add me on PSN if you want, though I'll still only really be playing multiplayer on Xbox because of PS+ I may eventually get Overwatch and Destiny 2 on it to play with friends though. SIX_min_WHISTLE

 
I tried world of tanks for that first time, and that game seems really hard for beginners to get into with how many options are in the menus, had almost no idea what I was doing.

You can't cancel build orders, you have to just smash them with your pickaxe. As for the build limit, you'd have to smash structures before you go over the limit to keep the bonus.

People starting ovjectives early with nothing built or wasting 30 traps for two waves of defense are pretty damn common. The first will either be a mission failure or at the least a huge expenditure of ammo, while the later will just cost the team bonus rewards.

Big hint: Don't evolve your weapons until you finish the zone you're in, because you won't have the mats to craft them. For instance, use copper til you get to Plankerton and silver til you leave. Malachite barely drops until the Canyon, and I'm stuck with my two best schematics uncraftable.
 
Another $180 on two remaining textbooks, I think I've spent almost $700. The good news is, I'll use most of them for the whole academic year, but JFC. I need to finish selling some of my retro stuff.

Sounds pretty close to my purchases. Buying these books blows, don't burn your scholarships if you get any, kids. I haven't really been able to pirate any of them either thanks to the online elements pretty much all classes seem to have now.

Not surprised considering they've been pushing the mesh of single player and multiplayer, where you're gonna have a game like a games as service thing too.

 
Maybe I’m a Chilean miner but did Amazon completely do away with the 20% discount on preorders and new games (first two weeks)?

I usually buy my games with GCU but had some Amazon credit and figured I’d combine it with the 20% discount.

I knew they had cut it back on things like collector’s editions and stuff but I’m not seeing it on anything now.

They killed that promo a cpl days ago only applies to preorders now

I think it's still lingering, but Amazon has stopped putting the 20% discount on any game that they deem as a Collector's Edition. Sometimes this seems to include fancily named Day One Editions and other versions that don't appear to be the vanilla version. Also, I'm not sure if the 20% off for games within the first two weeks of release is still a thing. Also, sometimes they are slow to put the discount on a game that is pre-orderable.

It's a racket. One of my professors wrote a popular textbook for materials science. He would go on in class about how his publisher was always pressuring him to add or rewrite chapters even if they weren't needed so they could sell new editions of the book. New editions which of course would then be required for future classes (schools are in on this too). He encouraged us to only buy used and/or share.

Final Fantasy XIII update:

I finished the game! I think I managed to over-power myself in Chapter 11 doing the "side missions"/random grinding, so I only died twice all the way from the end of chapter 11 to the end of the game  :whistle2: . The story was a little confusing but I think I get the gist of what happened (and after reading through the wiki entry again), I started up XIII-2.

Overall, I'd say I enjoyed the game. Combat was fun and different, the soundtrack was good, the voice acting (especially for Lightning) was done very well. I'd say it's a solid 8/10 kinda game. All the hate I saw before buying it seems to have been overblown.

I'm killing my prime at renewal. I haven't bought anything from them in months, even at black friday which a few years ago I used to buy a ton but they have been lackluster these past couple years. I never watch Prime Video and never use the Prime Music, them killing the video game deal just reminded me to not renew it this year.

I guess being the richest guy in the world means you don't have to give killer deals anymore.
