Just a heads up, I heard people have had problems adding a trial to their account if they already had gold before. You could always make a new account tho
 
Damn, was going to trade in some stuff today but it looks like values have fallen in the last day. Probably could get a better deal at the end of the month with the 60% than doing it today at 70%.

Not sure I’d go as far as saying it would be a bust. Still digging the sci-fi environment. And while there’s a ton of backtracking, you kind of need to do the same in Souls games too if you want to upgrade, etc. Maybe not quite as much and maybe more for me since I generally suck enough to keep dying and losing souls. LOL

I’m holding out judgement until I get further in the game as far as story goes. But the combat and challenge does have its hooks in me.

My GS trip gave me $178, then I signed up for a rewards card for the bit extra. Caved and bought a PS4 Pro, Horizon here I come.

It definitely takes some practice. Key is going back fairly often to the medbay and either banking scrap or upgrading because you will die. Even though you can get scrap back like the souls if you get back to the same point, there’s still a lot of risk vs reward there.

The story is a littl convoluted so far (hoping that changes). Combat is what keeps me going.

You do get a scrap multiplier the more you earn before banking it, so there's some incentive to not constantly go back.

Just got the overconfident achievement and you gotta have some brass balls when attempting it.The first boss is a bit easy to beat when you figure out what you have to do but he does lots of damage and can end you right there and there.
 
Well I am definitely loosing the backlog battle the last few weeks.  I think I finished 2-3 games the last 3 weeks but I just checked and I bought 21 games. Time to pump the breaks.

It is a decent game. From what I have played I did not find the story or companions as interesting as the first trilogy. Also at release the game had some serious performance issues, not talking about the faces or running. I decided to stop playing after 20+hours. I plan to finish the game on a Scorpio.
 
Bought more than I thought I would this sale. Picked up ME Andromeda, Deadlight DC, Destiny Collection, Lego Force Awakens DE, Jurassic Park, and Escapists dlc bundle. Hopefully the sales in the next few weeks will be terrible so I won't spend any more money!

I loved my experience with the game, purchased the deluxe edition on Day One. Even if it is of noticeably lower quality, I think most fans of the original trilogy will be fans of this one. Having said that, there are a few issue with the game. While they've resolved a number of performance issues that were around when the game first released (which I thankfully didn't encounter), the games' narrative leaves a bit to be desired. A bit more aimless, and no knock-out moments compared to ME1 which had meeting Saren, getting command of the Normandy, the battle on Virmire, and of course the final battle.

 
Is it bad I'm on the fence about buying infinite warfare+modern warfare remastered+Destiny collection for $65? I justify it as each game costing around $22 each.

Thats a great price if your interested in all of them. I don't like Destiny so for me it's not a great deal, but if your going to play them all I don't see why not. Activision doesn't discount CoD very quickly so...

I've been playing it since last Tuesday and posting here with some thoughts and impressions. If you feel like digging through the thread, lots of discussion over the last week, but the short version is it's a very good game in its own right but it's not what everyone who was a fan of the series was looking for. Which I think is totally okay, I don't want bands I like to write the Same album five times in a row and if I want ME2, I'll go play ME2 again.

I do agree that the team members are a lot less compelling then they were in the previous games although I have one or two favorites.

The game is comparatively open-ended and requires an open mind but from a story and gameplay perspective, I'm surprised by some of the more intense criticism it received.

One of Andromeda's biggest advantages was also one of its biggest object of criticism: it's not Mass Effect 4.

Many people (not everyone) were expecting Ryder and his/her squadmates to be a copy/paste version of Shepard and the Normandy crew with just different names. All in all, Andromeda is best described as "rough around the edges". It's not perfect but totally enjoyable for what it is and not for what it isn't.

I completed my Insanity playthrough yesterday totaling 67 hours (147 hours across both playthroughs). Made several decision changes this time around just for the fun of it since we may not ever get MEA2 or it'll take several years before we hear anything. 

 
Anybody have any thoughts on Yooka Laylee for $30?  I've only picked up Voodoo Vince so far due to this lackluster sale and I'm interested in YL, as I was a huge Banjo Kazooie fan back in the N64 days.

Yooka Laylee sucks. The camera sucks, the 'moop-moop-moop' character VO sucks, the character design sucks, everything about it sucks. I loved Banjo on N64 too - this is nothing like it.

Wait until it is $10.

I agree that ME4 would have been worse. I think one of my biggest challenges with Andromeda is that and tries to stand on its own legs without relying on the previous games and mostly succeeds, but then we have the Nexus as the Citadel and the Tempest instead of the Normandy. A few elements feel a little too similar in that regard but I admit I don't know what the alternative would be.

Although, I would have loved an ME game which borrowed liberally from Voyager and BSG (isolation, just a ship and crew) set in the ME universe.

It definitely has the Banjo-Kazooie feel, the visuals and levels are great, but it also got it's annoyances like camera angles, challenges you can't restart until the timer runs out, collect-a-thon...etc. it doesn't improve on the formula, it continues it, which is fun and frustrating at the same time.

Yup. Huge Banjo fan, and Y-L is one of my biggest gaming disappointments ever. I was so hyped for it.

Of all the things wrong with it, I think my main complaint was that the worlds are too big.

I don't know who expected that. Mass Effect itself never really had copy/paste characters in the original trilogy. And if you branch out to Dragon Age they have pretty varied character types with every new game.

The upcoming patch is supposed to change the camera to be more modern or something, and give the option to turn down the amount of gibberish, for what it's worth.

 
I bought a new Elite controller yesterday at Game Stop.  They wouldn't allow me to add extended warranty for $9.99.  One guy tried to tell me I get a 1 year manufactures warranty.  It is right on the side of the box.  Well no it isn't and its only a 90 day one anyway.  He said the warranty was only for used.

Over in one of the Game Stop threads it was all but confirmed that in store you can not buy a new elite and a 1 year warranty for $9.99 but had to order it online.

If that is true I am sadly going to return this.  Not sure I am going to re order it online as gamestop.com charges tax even when using credit.  Just a bit too pricey.  

I am going to try the GameStop near my job and see if I can add the warranty.  If not probably just get my money back and maybe see if there is a sale around BF for like $129.99.  Around $150 shipped with the warranty is fine.  Approaching $170 nah.

 
Why do all Ubisoft games these days mention a diverse group of people created a game? Is this a parental warning? Are these titles that I should avoid? I don't get it.

 
Not a hunting guy - at all. But I gotta say The Hunter: Call of the Wild looks really good. Console port coming this year, published by Avalanche (Mad Max, Just Cause) and THQ Nordic. Features an RPG-like skill tree and 4-player online multiplayer. TATS.

yeah i read that too, but its still not enough for me to go back to it, one of the issues i had was no sense of direction/mapping, at least they finished the game and are trying to improve it to make it less annoying

 
I honestly really liked Yooka Laylee, it has a lot of charm and I 100%ed it, was a huge Banjo fan and it definitely scratched the itch for me, it had some annoyances but so do most of those type of games honestly.

Looks pretty cool, though I'll wait until the Most Dangerous Game DLC is out.

 
Yooka Laylee is an alright game, I paid about $25 as a backer which I think is around the right price for what you get. I'd compare it to Banjo Tooie more than Banjo Kazooie in that it's more of a collect-athon rather than an action platformer. 

I think the first two levels are really good, but interest fell off for me pretty quickly after that. Beat the game but haven't gone back to finish off the final three levels. I believe they've released a patch which fixed  a bunch of issues, including the buggy camera, since I last played.

Seems pretty shitty to just not offer the warranty one something like that, is it an option on normal controllers? I'd guess they probably lose money at just $10 since the manufacture warranty is so short and it seems like Elite controllers have a high failure rate.

When I ordered my Switch they were pushing the plan pretty hard. I almost went for it but I've never been in a situation where I would have actually used the protection plan if I'd had it.
