Picked up my X at GameStop earlier, and picked up an Elite controller for $100 with their $50 off deal. No 4K set yet, but I have my eyes on that TCL P series 55" set.

 
Are people referring to a stand with the Scorpio version of X? Because I didn’t get any stand with the normal version unless it’s stuck in the box and I didn’t see it.

Limited Edition Scorpio Edition with stand. Pleebs need not apply.

 
Can’t say for sure since I don’t have one to compare but looking at pictures, I think the Scorpio version may have less slots for ventilation since it’s a bit sleeker. Maybe that’s another reason why it may even need a stand over the normal one that’s closer to the S in design.

The ventilation is apparently at the sides so it can pull in the air and then push out the hot air through the back of the console.
 
Warning about Cuphead physical version from BB, there is no code inside the box. The code is generated on the receipt upon the point of sale. So make sure to save the receipt.
 
I was contemplating that some of the additional weight of the x comes from metal heatsinks. These may be required as the upgraded hardware would produce more heat. My vcr xbox seems to run hotter, granted no official tests have been run on my end.

Well looking at it from just the outside will only give you partial information. The Xbox One X has a vapor chamber, the cooling method is different compared to the S.

The vapor chamber cooler used in the Xbox One X uses what is known as a two-piece design consisting of upper and lower stamped plates sandwiched together to create a chamber with a sintered wick material on the inner walls. This design allows for complex shapes to be molded into the base plate to enable direct contact with the Xbox One X core and memory chips while heatsink fins are attached to the smooth upper plate.

Coolant, usually in the form of deionised water, is added to the chamber and then vacuum sealed. This causes the wicking material to evenly distribute the fluid throughout the chamber. Once applied to a heat source, the liquid turns to vapor and moves to an area of lower pressure where it dissipate its heat load and returns to liquid form. The cooled liquid then moves back to the heat source by virtue of capillary action and the process repeats itself. As a result, this method of cooling provides evenly spread temperatures across all of its mating surfaces, regardless of the location and density of the heat source.

Yes that is correct. It pulls in air on both sides and the the vapor chamber cools the core and memory chips, expelling the hot air out the back ventilation.

 
So, Newegg had the Project Scorpio edition of the X available this afternoon so I took the plunge. I have a 500GB One S with two 2TB drives attached. I have enough space on one of the drives to full transfer the contents of the internal HDD. What do I need to do to prepare for my X?

All this power of the X yet system updates still take forever.

My dumbass tried restarting because the circle kept going around to verify update. Though it was bugged and I got a system error for doing so.

Restore to factory settings, re-searched for update and it seems good to go. But It's over 10 minutes just trying to get this update. lawd.

There's 10 million other people trying to update today too. That might put a slight strain on the servers.

Picked up my x from GameStop (thanks flipagedden!)...now I just need a 4k tv. While I'd love to have an OLED I just can't afford that right now. TCL P series looks good, anyone have one?

Anyone try Mafia 3 on X yet? See the patch for it is “available now”. Curious how much it improves it.
 
My $8 copy of Deadly Premonition showed up in excellent condition. While you all are enjoying 4k CoD I'll be playing 360 games that look like PS2 games. Or the SNES.

I think Larry and Phil are worried I was defecting, I just got the $5 promo. Unless there's a killer sale before Black Friday, I'm saving it for that. Last year the sales were actually quite good.

Got my used copy too. So I’ll be playing it in all its glory on my X along with that 4K CoD. Wonder which will look better?

Sorry dude, I was only trying to make a joke. While I heard lot of good things about TCL and apparently its a really good budget 4k TV, I still dont have one. Meaning to get one, if I ever surface out of my money troubles.

Has anyone tried moving x enhanced games to the internal hd? I’m moving all of them to internal, after confirming each game I have 106gb left over. But I’m running into a problem where it says not enough space on some of the games when they start to xfer over. I have 17 enhanced games moving along with their dlc.
 
Took a break from Halo 3 and decided to try Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The stages are fun, but way too short thanks to torture cutscenes. It's like I'm playing FPS Gears of War: Judgement. Zombies mode was better than the World at War version and fun for a while.  I got to Round 5 by myself and keep getting killed from behind - even worse in multiplayer where I got to Round 11 (thanks to better players) and I can't even kill one zombie.

I think it's safe to say I prefer the Infinity Ward CoD's over the Treyarch ones.

Just curious if anyone is still playing Destiny 2. All but two of my clan have just about dropped it entirely. I hopped on because of the faction rally exploit today, and was reminded why I stopped too. In ONE hour of grinding out the 400 tokens for maxing out a faction, I completed what took probably 10-15 hours during the last one, and upon turning in for my rewards I didn't even manage to get a full set of armor. There are more reasons I'm not playing, but I think this one alone is pretty big.

I don't think I'll be buying the DLC, unless I get a bunch of credit during the holidays or something, and I stuck with Destiny 1 on and off for its entire lifespan.

You open the box upside down? Mine was right on top in a pouch the length of the box with a 14 day gold trial code slipped in as well. Had to remove it before I could get anything else out.

I played it the other day. Problem is I already did everything that’s interesting, so aside from some Crucible stuff I’m just going to wait until the expansion and play other stuff

I ran into a weird glitch like that too when I tried to boot up Quantum Break from one of my external HDDs that still had about 3TB of free space on it (said it needed an update for the game). I moved it to internal though and worked just fine.

I also noticed I had a couple of games on my external HDDs that weren't showing up in my list of games. One I noticed right away (because it's always first on my list alphabetically) was Prototype 2 wasn't showing, while the original was there. I went to the game's page on the store and sure enough it showed up on my list after.

Really odd but other than that no issues. The games look amazing on a 4K screen, even non-enhanced games. I booted up Forza Horizon 3 earlier and it looked smooth as butter. Even the system itself seems to be quicker and snappier than before. No random lagging when I switch to new pages and stuff.

I enjoyed D2 the first weekend. I was happy and hopeful that they had fixed a lot of lingering issues and made the game they should have with D1. Then I got to the end game... or lack thereof. Trials is garbage. Tried (and failed) ~5 times to complete the raid and got two weapons and one piece of armor. Despite that, still did some grinding and I’m a helmet away from 305 on my main, and I haven’t played in weeks. My fiancé uninstalled after one of the failed raid attempts when she turned in two exotic engrams and got two of an exotic gun she was already holding. Pretty sure they fixed the duped engrams in D1 back in early year 2, so having it be a thing in the sequel was super disappointing and disheartening.

I may go back for the expansion - I have the DLC already, stupidly bought the $99 digital deluxe - but that depends on if the DLC is game-share-able. It was in D1, but the D2 pre-order bonus stuff (Coldheart, emblem, etc) was not. If we both can’t play the DLC together, we’re both done for good.

Edit: and I just did my weekly loot boxes in D1 because I love that game despite myself and it’s still the better Destiny.

I noticed this too. They finally fixed Prototype 2 to be listed as [Prototype 2], with the brackets. So now it sits next to the first one.

I guess I did now that I look at it. I just saw the plastic, adhesive, circular seals and started cutting. I was too pumped. Same promo materials in the same sleeve / pouch though.
