Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Of the 3 EDF games we've gotten recently on GWG, any opinion on which one I should play first if I haven't played any of them? I know they all have a fair amount of grinding, but what's the most enjoyable of the 3?
2025 is what got me into them. Play co-op if you can. Had a blast with the Wing Diver class!

Dammit....... I really need to check my PS4 backlog and the info on a game before I impulse buy it on an Xbox sale. Just grabbed the Batman Telltale combo. This is the 2nd time this summer I bought a game I forgot I "own" through PS+, and it's the 5th or 6th time that the worst version of the game is on Xbox (whether that be lower resolutions, less detailed lighting/shadows, lower quality textures, or worse frame rate). I get excited that so many games are better on Xbox One X that I forget the older games have often never been patched.

"The primary issues centre on poor image quality and often terrible performance. On PlayStation 4, Telltale has opted for a 900p presentation, while the Xbox One version operates at 720p. Strictly speaking however, the actual resolution is lower. The game is letterboxed, effectively lowering the resolution to 1600x766 on PS4 and 1280x614 on Xbox One... While Xbox One renders at the lowest resolution, the version on Microsoft's console does at least appear to use some sort of post-process anti-aliasing, resulting in a softer but smoother presentation."

Maybe Batman Evil Within fares better, and that one I didn't own yet

So the funny thing about Control, it's very possible the first game ever I actually like hunting for collectibles. That and the combat gameplay is pretty great.

When did you buy it? Pretty sure you can request a refund.

I just noticed that this picture is shown with Game Pass & Gold.

I thought that no Red Dead games are on Game Pass. Does this mean an announcement is coming any day now? Or is this simply to show that the game is discounted if you have a Gold membership? I admit, I got excited until I realized RDR2 is not on Game Pass.

The 2nd Part, I'd never say never, but I'd think that GTA V would hit Gamepass first since it's basically just an online money maker at this point. RDR2 isn't there yet.

Okay, so I have a question about claiming XB1 Games with Gold and letting your gold subscription elapse. I had gold run out earlier this year, but I had previously claimed Tales from the Borderlands and Forza Horizon 2 when they featured. I re-subscribed to gold back in May or so, but since those two games have been de-listed, I can no longer download them. I swore I read that people could still re-download games with gold titles even if they were delisted. I own FH2 on disc and TftB on Steam, so it isn't really a loss, but are you essentially required to keep your gold subscription ongoing lest losing the privilege to access any delisted games forever?

The 360 games remain in your download list, but I think that the Xbox One games are more like an extended rental kind of like the PlayStation Plus games are on the PS4.

Can you download FH2 from its store page? It disappeared from my Ready to Install list a while ago but I can still get it from its store page.

I made it through Blair Witch. I say that in that it’s not a bad game but it has me freaked the fuck out. I don’t know about you but navigating in the dark with the noises and jumps, fuck. When I realized what the last levels location was I quit for a day, knowing tight corridors would fuck me over but I just had to finish to figure out if I was right all along about the ending. I was but it was still fun. I’m calling it a walking horror simulator and I would recommend it.

Of course, with my addiction to Control and Wreckfest, probably be 2020 before I finish Gears 4 and onto 5.
Start playing Gears 5 when it comes out, try to get through the story enough to appreciate the mechanics and enemy patterns, and play MP while it's brand-new and fresh. Game Pass means the online is going to be one of the most played games on the system for a long time and games like this are best at launch for online stuff.

I plan on toning it down a bit on black ops 4 and make gears 5 my main MP.I've never been good at this so nows the best time to start learning the wall bounce and 2-piece with the gnasher.

Super pumped for Gears 5. Love the series.
Replayed Gears 4 on Scorpio with graphics mode. Gears 5 apparently is optimized to runs native 4k and 60fps...gonna be so awesome.

Excited for Enter the Gungeon on Gamepass. And whoa, Gears 5? Who saw that coming? Certainly not the entire Xbox community, or the Xbox promotional department.

Super excited for Gears 5 this friday but afraid i may not be playing it right away as my wife and I play COOP and she is deep into the Dark Crystal series on netflix right now.  I have to admit its been pretty good from what ive seen of the show.

Pumped that Dead Cells is coming to GP. So many of you fine folk have recommended it but I just couldn’t get myself to pull the trigger on a rogue-like after some bad experiences before, so it’ll be great to give this one a try without dropping anything extra.

Also super happy for Gears and getting to play tomorrow/Friday. I’ve been back into Destiny lately but my fiancé and our good friend who always party up have been very anti-D2 (understandably), and all we’ve been playing together lately is Overwatch, which I like but can only do for so long. Having something new for the 3 of us is going to be great.

Great September Game Pass lineup.

I have nearly bought a used copy of Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection several times lately so I’m glad to see the HD Edition is available tomorrow. Looks like it is missing Peace Walker though.

Having played Dead Cells and 20XX, I can say Dead Cells is wayyy better. 20XX is fine for what it does but there isn't enough variety between runs. Dead Cells has more of that exploration vibe you'd expect from a Metroidvania type game and every run really does feel unique until you've put many hours into it and start to see the stitches holding it together.

It does get hard, though, and as runs get to be higher stakes, that's when I have to walk away from it or else the "one more run" mentality will have you up until 2 am.

Not sure why the Game Pass announcement didn't identify the overlap for PC games, but Dead Cells will also be on PC, which is pretty cool. Not sure if it has cross-saving, although every PC game with releases on both has supported cross-save, so maybe?

I was just thinking "I should finally boot up Plants vs Zombies GW 2 for the first time before they announce a sequel," but I guess they already did. And it's available to play now in early access. And didn't a new Gears just come out? And a Borderlands game is coming out soon? And a Monster Hunter expansion, which reminded me I should finish the tutorial in the base game? And I'm finally playing through Destiny 2 Forsaken since that has a new thing coming out.

Being an adult sucks.

Being an adult sounded so awesome when I was a kid, it's like I could do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. LMAO what a joke that was...

This is a perfect summary of adult gamer life imo. I feel personally attacked.

It's the biggest reason I don't do many multiplayer games, especially Fortnite or anything battle royale. By the time it takes to "get gud" by repeatedly playing the same matches over and over again, I could have knocked out several story-driven single player games out of my backlog. Even when a friend asks me to log in and drive around aimlessly in GTA online for the billionth time, I think about that one hour of gaming time for the day and how it could be invested in making progress in a single game instead.

Though, truth be told, I'll boot up that single player game and fall asleep at the main menu anyway.

Do I ever hear you. My big thing is I don't want to start any single player games because there's no way I'll get very far due to constant interruptions, and by the time I get back to it I'll have completely forgotten everything that was happening in the story or even how to play it so I have to restart. I'm looking at you, Horizon Zero Dawn...

It seems not that long ago the idea of a 4-6 game being a terrible idea and thinking why would they make it so short.  Now its the best thing ever, a game that is feasible for me to finish.  I would love to play something like the Witcher 3 but the idea of trying to sink that much time into a game causes a lot of hesitation.   I've played about 10 hours of Slay the Spire and feel like i've played a ton of it but that's mostly thanks to being able to stream it from the one x to my laptop.  The stream quality isn't great but its perfect for a game like that.

This. All of this.

Code Vein has a new demo out. It has a very extensive character creator, and as far as gameplay goes they took a lot of feedback from their beta that has now been implemented. It feels like an easier Souls game now, rather than just a jank one. Visually I think it looks pretty interesting. It's definitely on the radar for me now but releasing in this stacked time means I'll probably wait for a holiday discount.

I'm super hyped for this game. I played the closed beta and loved it then. Glad to hear that they made improvements.

Anyone else unable to launch torchlight 2? Seeing other people writing reviews on the store as well as reddit saying it wont start for them. Went through Microsoft's steps to fix a game took too long error but it didn't help

Completely agree. I just finished Blair Witch in 4-6 and I was engaged, binged a little, got a story and experience and done. My backlog is full of open world giant games that I just can’t stay with to absorb and play.

When you're in high school, you can't afford all the awesome games you have time to play. Then you grow up, buy them finally, and have time for 1 out of 10 of them.

Bring on the 4-6 hour completions!

So Xbox finally gets the Torchlight 2 issues!

PSN and Switch had all the problems yesterday, and xbox guys were making fun of them. Payback heh.
I wonder if they tried to update the game to fix a few bugs that were found and borked the update?

I dunno hard to say hasn't worked for me since it unlocked, haven't seen any updates come down for it either

anyone know if u can opt out of the inside program and still have your gamepass ultimate sub??? i just really hate the weekly updates that dont really update anything

They said in a blog post that they will be making separate announcements from here on out due to complaints of confusion (even though each game title card had a PC, Console, or both banner). It was not that confusing and they should have just kept the single announcement, but I guess you can look forward to 2 announcement posts each time now.

My wife will NEVER let me live down the time she caught me asleep on the couch with the controller in my hand and Tidus just jogging forever into a wall.

You shouldn't have any issues keeping your GPU sub if you opt out of the Insider program. All the program really gave you was early access to the deal, and now that the deal is widely available you should be good to go.

Nice bit of Destiny 2 news if you haven't bought the Forsaken annual pass: "Annual Pass content will be free for all Forsaken owners starting on September 17, 2019."
