Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
[*]Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
[*]Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

So RE2make is on sale for $25 at Amazon but it's physical copy. Has the digital copy hit this price yet? Really want to play it and I'd say that's even my price point but with Xbox I usually prefer digital. Not opposed to buying it physically but if the price is similar or we think it'll hit that price digitally soon I'll probably wait since my backlog is years long anyway
Do you still have Best Buy's Gamer Club Unlocked? You'll save another 20% there. In fact, I picked it up there just this afternoon, but I'm regretting the purchase and here's why.

I wasn't expecting it to be an action game like RE4-6, but I assumed they kept the same control scheme from those games. They didn't. You click left stick to run like in every other shooter (the alternative buttons for it are B button or RB), the quick turn is changed to Down+B instead of Down+A, and the knife has a durability meter, so you won't want to use it unless you have to when a zombie grabs you. (When it grabs you, you jam it into them and have to retrieve it again.) And the game is just too dark and it's hard to see anything. I would have passed if I knew about all these changes.

I mean, I loved it? It also looks really good on the XB1X

I wouldn't listen to him. I'm a big defender of classic RE but playing a ground up remake in the modern era it makes no sense to have expected the control scheme from the previous games. Two points to clarify there. First RE 4, 5, and 6 all have different control schemes from each other. 4 and 5 are closest but since 4 doesn't have aiming on the right stick it feels very different from 5. 6 has a totally different control scheme that is not tank-controls. If anything, this is closest to RE2 Remake but feels radically different due to the insane mobility in that game.

Second I think it's worth pointing out that there were three RE games that released close to or after RE 6 that all feel much closer to how RE 2 controls. Revelations 1 and 2, and RE 7. While 7 obviously feels somewhat different due to the first-person view, mechanically the game feel pretty close to 2, which makes sense as they share their engine.

The darkness level of the game design is a modern interpretation of the limitations the old fixed cameras placed on the player.

TL;DR: Capcom has iterated on the controls and gameplay of the series for better or worse for pretty much every game, nothing new there. RE2 Remake is an excellent game and worth playing.

Saw post on Reddit of leaked ps5 dev kit and found it peculiar and funny that it had a big sticker on it (not sure if by dev or original) that says “let’s go digital” which was Xbox’s big “mistake” with the One’s announcement.

...and man the time's have changed since then, but no Sony isn't going to have a big dumb sticker that says "Let's go digital"

I wish. Unfortunately my GCU ran out. If my Gamers club still was there I wouldn't even question and would jump right on it. I will say that RE 4-6 are my least favorite of the main RE games bc of all the action but RE 2 is still probably my favorite core game. It was actually one of the first games I ever played back on PS1 (I was a kid and played with my dad, along with RE 3 and Silent Hill). I'd love to pick up the Remake and bring it over and play the remake with him as I think he'd get a real kick out of it. Even if the controls aren't quite my favorite. I will say I also played the One shot demo and thought it played much better than 4-6

Re4 was the Zepplin

No but if that’s their message to devs it’s like deja vu all over again.

On the sale: the next Tom Clancy should be where you have limited funds and you have to search through all their shit versions and dlc to find the actual game you want...or you explode.

It seems suspect that this is the Halloween sale. There’s too many non-spooky themed games listed thus far. Unless, of course, that is what the shock is supposed to be about.

Borderlands 3 arrived and it's fun, but it's a technical mess. I kinda wish I'd read up on the issues it's having, they aren't a total dealbreaker but they all add up to the game being a lot less fun.

-horizontal split-screen only, but the pop-up menues telling you about guns/loot/etc are still always vertical, so it's often hard to read the stats and descriptions of items you're picking up
-the above is made worse by how tiny the text is on everything. We have a 43" TV and sit less than 10 feet away, but both my GF and I had to get up to read the screens pretty often
-the button prompts for opening things are similarly tiny and it's easy to miss prompts in the environment

Seriously, the text size issues seem inexcusable, it reminds me of when Dead Rising on the 360 didn't display correctly on SD televisions.

Probably the worst part is the lag in split-screen. Opening menus makes a few frames chug, but sometimes it straight-up freezes when one person is organizing inventory or looking at the map. It's just really poorly optimized and it interrupts gameplay enough that I almost wish I'd waited until it got patched more. Supposedly the first patch already made the frame issues less bad, which is hard to fathom because it is pretty shitty even with the patch.
It looks like you might be sitting too far away for your TV size. If you can move your seating closer it would definitely help. I would recommend being about 6ft away for a 46 inch. Any TV size can work great if you sit the right distance away :)

Be careful when you look up viewing recommendations online, there are some crazy suggestions based of image quality not realistic seating. I think THX say something like 4ft as the minimum for a 65 inch 4K, but that number is the distance you would lose image quality by getting closer (visible pixels) not what is comfortable. Instead, always look up seating distance by the field of view you want.

Meh. I’m in a 4K movie group that basically makes me feel like my TCL P607 55” TV isn’t bright enough and nothing is good enough unless you have a 65” or greater OLED.

I don’t care. It’s what I could afford and I’m happy with it. What makes me happy is what’s good enough for me.
I have the slightly brighter TCL 6 series (yours peaks at around 480-580 nits, mine is 650-820) nits, but I understand how we are missing out on the full effect of HDR since most of it is mastered for 1,000 nits. But like you I am happy for now.

Is HDR supposed to be so dark?
If you used numbers off of a calibration website, keep in mind they usually calibrated for a pure dark theater room. For the soft lights in my room I have to bump the gamma settings up a little.

No it's more like how dare you presume to know what people can spend on a TV...

Ironic, since you were disparaging the way someone else enjoys their movies and video games. :)
You mean how she specifically wasn't enjoying them because she couldn't read text on the screen? Maybe read the initial conversation fun guy :whistle2:

Doom 64 trailer for all current platforms:

This is the only game in the series that hasn't been re-released, updated, or otherwise made officially available since it's release. Pretty stoked.

Ha, good one.

Speaking of fun, do you still play Destiny? Your information has been weird. Some websites show you in the clan, some don't, and some just show an error.

I've been playing (replaying all the previous titles that were only  :360:: S1, S2, Michonne) the Telltale Walking Dead games on the :xb1: and just got done with the Michonne game. At this rate, doing a chapter a day, I'll be able to finish up the 3rd and 4th game right on Halloween night. Pretty good unintentional gaming schedule I did for myself.

I haven't played Destiny since 2014. Playing pretty much Apex, Slay the Spire and Wreckfest exclusively.

What is wrong with EA Access? I get it, EA is the worst (though really, what large publisher isn't at this point?). But the subscription can easily be had for around $1.85 a month. How can anybody complain about that?
Yeah I have been able to get my sub for around $15 in November the last couple years. The 10% off I got on NHL 20 and will for Star Wars is $12 by itself, plus the 12000 MS Reward points I got for the punch cards for Anthem and Madden 20 made it well worth it. Dang now I suppose I won't be able to play the trial of Fallen Order in case they do a punch card.... should be a fairly empty release time now that Doom's moved out.

That Lonely Mountains Downhill may seem like a throwaway but it has been getting really good reviews. Glad to see it coming to GP.

Any views on Hello Neighbor? I actually played the first game yesterday and was going to buy the sequel at $4.99 from Best Buy  but was completely turned off from what I experienced. Do the games get better at least?
