Through the console, after first selecting to download a GoD you are greeted by a familiar gray confirmation screen that pops up displaying the size of the download as well as confirming the price. At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:
Anyone know if they ever patched Dungeons & Dragon Daggerdale to fix all the glaring bugs? Seems that was the main complaint about the game, besides it's relatively short length.
when I played it a week or two ago, it was still really bad. No real game breaking bugs, but a huge lack of polish, near PS2 level graphics, annoying level design, a so far completely forgettable story with laughable voice acting (ie. there is nearly none, almost everything is done with Lego like grunts), and really bad animations. Also there is almost no one playing online, and almost everyone I played with either got disconnected or rage quit. The game is really hard single player, so be prepared for a lot of tedious replaying of quests.

If it isn't completely obvious, I do not recommend this game to anyone. Seriously, it's not good:cry:
well now I'm wondering if I should wait a few days to see if there is a May punchcard before buying pac man (and maybe Scott Pilgrim). Does anyone have any thoughts on if there is, if it would be up before this ends? I can't remember how far into april it took to get the punchards.
I definitely wouldn't make any purchases in April as you might find out that there is a decent promotion for May going on. The promotion for May was from the 1st until the 30th. Can't recall when it actually was introduced but it encompassed the whole of April. I would assume that the next promotion would do the same. So if I was anyone here I would just wait until tomorrow to make purchases just in case there is a promotion for May. The only thing that is not advertised and on sale (or perhaps price dropped) is the Star Wars Pinball DLC for Pinball FX 2. Once again i'm sure that'll stick around for another day. Hold off all purchases till the 1st people.

And MrNinjaSquirrel, I'm up for Castle Crashers if you need a fourth. I'm on your friends list. Will send you a msg in a few min to invite me next time you're online and in need of another player.

Alright then, I suppose I can wait another day at least. Hopefully there is something equally good for may, though I do hope they switch it up. I'd like a DLC card like everyone else, and could do without the 20 hours of playtime one.

And sure thing, though you should really send it to cleaner7, as she generally hosts the matches (provided she isn't to annoyed with me already[I'm really bad]). Sorry to say I don't remember your gamertag though, as it's not listed on here:cry:
Anyone know if they ever patched Dungeons & Dragon Daggerdale to fix all the glaring bugs? Seems that was the main complaint about the game, besides it's relatively short length.

They had at least a 1.1 patch that, according to them took care of 80 bugs... I don't own it, so I cannot give any first hand accounts.
It was patched back in November of 2011 about 6 months after release as it took awhile for Microsoft to certify the patch. And it actually fixed a lot of the issues from what I heard - about 80 bugs. The problem was that with the patch you had to re-download the whole game again to actually make it work (it was a weird thing). So it was unclear if people who installed the patch actually did that or not and hence might explain why there were still some issues with certain people's games post patch. But I hear the game is now playable. I know that one of the main issues was a skill loss issue that was completely resolved.

Here is the official word from the Facebook site:

"For XBLA, the initial update that was submitted to Microsoft was rejected due to the size. This new update will essentially delete the original game and replace it with a fully new version rather than stack on a large patch to the game. We've fixed over 80 bugs raised between the forums and additional time in QA. Currently, the update has been submitted to Microsoft and the EARLIEST it can go live is late October."

Though do note that a lot of people actually got this free through setting up an Indian account a few months back where they were giving Daggerdale away free on the Indian marketplace. So if you were one of those people just be aware so you don't buy something you already own on another account.

But as MrNinjaSquirrel said the game even without bugs is still pretty weak sauce. Unless you're a huge D&D fan you can probably skip it, especially at 600pts and you could certainly do much better spending that much on better quality games like Scott Pilgrim.

That's not a price drop. And a sale 2 months after release when other collections for Pinball FX2 have seen no sale...? I sort of doubt that too.

If you're a Pinball Fx2 fan I would suggest getting it now as it likely happened in error.

Bought Castlevania SOTN for 320. One of my favorite games. It was either that, Scott Pilgrim, or XMEN. I have great memories of playing XMEN at the arcade but I was disappointed after playing the Simpsons Xbox Arcade game.
Here's mine:

Guardian Heroes - 400
Retro City Rampage - 600
Swarm - 200
Quarrel - 200
Mercury HG - 200
I am Alive - 480
Black Knight Sword - 400
Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 - 200
Quantum Conundrum - 480
Adventures of Shuggy - 400

Total=3560MSP

Due to the silly pricing I wound up 80 pts short of the 3200 mark and ended up buying Adventures of Shuggy, mostly due to the fact that it's like 80mb and you know what just played 2 hours of it and it's awesome so thanks to whomever it was that recommended it. It was a tough call between that and Aces of the Galaxy, which I find looks bloody amazing for a game that's just 50mb. It also has a sort of level choice like Starfox that I appreciated but I got the sense that I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as Shuggy - still it's on my radar next time there is a sale like this. Can I for the record say that Shuggy is worth it for the music played in the boiler room areas alone - I love that sort of western music, it's awesome.

The only surprise for me is that I didn't buy Amy. I was so close so many times. I'm curious just how bad a game it is post-update.

Here's hoping there's some good sales in the next month to spend our 800pts on. Nothing for me this coming week. Been thinking about NBA Jam but I might hold off on that.

X-Men is enjoyable, but I think most of us picked it up for 200pts a few Xmas' back which is probably what price it belongs at. Hopefully the sale means that there will be plenty of people back online as I need to pick up an achievement for beating the game with 6 players.

I have some nostalgia for the Simpsons game, but I'm waiting for it to hit even lower at this point.

I grabbed Scott Pilgrim years ago but it's a good purchase for those who like a beat-em up and the comic book franchise. If you don't have that for 320pts it's a steal and you might have 320pts lying around now after all these sales for games at 480pts price point.

Same with Castlevania - though I own if off the disc.
Shuggy is awesome. You made the right call!

It's almost certainly part of the "May the 4th" sale that they're doing. The Android and iTunes versions are both half off as well, and the sale goes from April 30 to May 8 on there:

Sorry for the triple post, but I'm updating the OP.

All done, I didn't realize someone had already linked of this weeks deals ahead of time. Nice job.

Also, just noticed that the Kinect Central Angry Birds deal is gold-only, for whatever reason.

My totals:

Frogger - 400
Poker Night 2 - 800
Tecmo Bowl Throwback - 800
From Dust - 480
Scott Pilgrim - 320
Shuggy - 400

Total = 3200 on the nose, and with 1220 to spare for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon tomorrow. And then I'm done buying XBLA games forever (yeah, right).

My haul

Battleblock Theater
Poker Night 2
Mega Man 10
Nin2-Jump (It looked like a charming enough little platformer)
Castlevania: SotN (I've never played it, so it's time!)

And I went to a pawn shop this morning and found the Plants vs Zombies disc on sale for $8, so bought it, rushed home, and snagged the Nights DLC for Peggle.
So far Blood Dragon is well received.

Destructoid 7/10
Polygon 8/10
IGN 8/10
Joystiq 9/10
Gameinformer 8.5/10
Eurogamer 9/10
Yup, definitely getting it tomorrow. Thanks for the scores.
BestBuy had the disc version for that price a couple of weeks ago. To me it seems like a $10 game.
I wonder if it is region free?? Then it might be a ten dollar game...

On Twitter, @PlayXBLA stated the Star Wars tables will be on sale until May 6th. No point rushing.

I can still fill out my card for April as long as I do it by 4pm pst right? Been debating buying kingdom for Keflings and Galaga legions dx. Think getting those two for effectively 800 is worth it?

Already have bought: quantum conundrum, poker night 2, dungeon defenders.

Heh heh ... did that last week so folks could start planning their April 30th purchases. :)

BTW, as of 11:15a PDT, "Angry Birds" reflects an "open to everyone" price of $19.99 on Xbox Marketplace, so I've now edited that 1 item accordingly.

I really hope theres a DLC themed punchcard this month. I easily have well over 3200 worth of DLC I want just waiting on a reason to push me over the edge. I'm about dried up on games. Nothing else I really want that I don't have.

I think the deadline was 4pm GMT which would have been about 9am pacific. That being said go for Galaga Legions DX. Keflings has been on sale before and will again whereas Galaga has yet to go on sale on XBLA. It was towards the top of my full-price buy list as well but I went with Triggerheart Exelica instead since I'm still holding out hope Galaga will eventually see a sale.

Deadline is midnight GMT, which is around 5pm PDT. For the report, Xbox Rewards goes strictly by date purchased, and not date/time. Seriously, don't give "ePrize, LLC" any more credit than they're due.

As for me, I had 2800 MSP purchased in April ...
 • Trials Evolution ... 800 points
 • Pool Nation ... 400 points
 • Retro City Rampage ... 600 points
 • Swarm ... 200 points
 • Mercury Hg ... 200 points
 • Quarrel ... 200 points
... and because I'm a bit of a hoarder of sale-priced games, the decision to purchase was a little tough. In the end, I went with "Skulls of the Shogun", which sort of counts as being on sale, since it dropped so fast from 1200 MSP to 800 MSP. More importantly, however, the game has the noteworthy multi-platform capability & cloud-saves, not to mention "17-Bit Studios" put a lot of obvious hard-work & thought into this title.

Reminder ... if you need points, check out the link in my signature. Even if you go straight to CrazyGameTime's website (bypassing my 2% referral link), I'm happy to say I've always gotten nearly-instantaneous delivery of 5x5 point codes without a problem even after 10+ transactions, and the only requirement is using PayPal as the middleman. I see (right now) they have 1600 / 2000 / 2400 point codes in stock @ prices $1.50 - $2.00 below your average mega-chain retailer, so you should check them out when you need a quick infusion of MSP.

Last week's deals are gone, so I'm in the OP now. All done ... note the graphics within the "want to buy GoD games with MSP" spoiler are no longer available. I'm unsure if ReddJoey originally stored them, but does someone else want to host these?

Thanks for the heads up. I keep forgetting to check. Someone said that it is region free. For 600 MSP I'll pick it up. :)

I get an "access denied - forbidden" error, is that because the website is USA only?

So despite all the crap some people have slung around about it, I picked up Tony Hawk HD. Totally worth it. Don't know what everyone's complaint is. I'm going to be sinking hours and hours into it easily, even though it's all retreads. I was going to immediately get the Revert pack too but I think I'll wait, because there's plenty of gaming time in the base as is, and maybe I'll get lucky w/ a sale on the expansion later since XBL loves them some sales on DLC and expansions.

I could maayybbee see some complaints at the full price, but not at the sale price. My only real complaint is that I always thought Warehouse kinda' sucked and it's the 1st level. Other than that, loving it. If you still need to spend some points you could do way, way worse than Tony Hawk HD.

Completely agree, I bought this for the last punch I needed and am having a real blast with it. I'm not sure I'd purchase it at 1200 points, but at 600 you really can't go wrong. Also contemplated the DLC, but decided I'll wait for a sale or at least until I grow bored of the base game. Game doesn't deserve as much hate as it seems to get..not perfect, but still lots of fun.

My final takeaway for the punch card:

Twisted Pixel Bundle
Geometry Wars 2
PvZ
NBA JAM
Pacman CE DX
Castlevania
Super Puzzle Fighter
Scott Pilgrim

Didn't do too bad. Hoping for some more good sales in May. Plan on picking up Worms 2 and Guardian Heroes for 400 apiece sometime soon as well.

I downloaded it for free from Taiwan marketplace and I regret it, so u´d better avoid paying for this. And the achievement for max level characters is all glitched.

is there something that actually states the deadline of the April punchcard? Was going to buy Scott Pilgrim anyways but Id spend another 880 if I would still qualify for the punchcard, which is what Id be short.

Is the problem with the "Sales & Specials+" app over? I recall some problem with the region or the game not showing up so that you were unable to redownload it.

The sales app is done. It literally deleted itself when I tried using it a few weeks ago. A few days ago I tried re-downloading it and I got an error message. I really don't why this app failed but I wish it didn't.

As long as it's April in ur timezone any purchase u make counts, i guess it's that simple.

I hate to say it, but there's many games that are more then decent, that get labeled as "crap" here by people, and it happens a lot. People love to hate things. If someone wants to know if a game is good or not, I would just get the trial, judge for yourself.

Based on the link below from the Xbox forums, you had to make a purchase by April 30 00:01 UTC. If my google-fu is working (please someone correct me if I am wrong), that was about 2.5 hours ago. So, I think if you have not finished your April purchases, you missed out.

I bought castlevania on offer about six hours ago, that's 4 hours before midnight of 1st May in my country. Then i went to xbox.com to see my purchases record and there was castlevania listed under April, obviously. Since punchcards won't update until a few days i can't confirm further but it has sense to me. I can however state the opposite: i bought dead rising case west on 1st April, when america was still sleeping in March :p and it definitely counted for my punchcard, so...

Edit: It seems there's official word as commented above, sorry for mislead you. Luckily i'm utc+1 so kinda match, but still has no sense to me: a month ends when it ends. Anyway, such a thing should be at least redacted in their rewards faq, as a disclaimer, cos the american shitstorm could be important.

What's the verdict on The Simpsons? I can't say I have fond memories of playing it in the arcade since I only have 2 or 3 times in my life, but I can say Im a huge fan of the show and beat em ups.

Instead of bombarding a list of my non-regret purchases, I'll try out the blog feature for last minute recommendations before April ends. Since I already completed all the goals for the MyPunchcards for April, I think it is best I hold off on my purchases until it becomes May 1st. I am already looking forward to buying Castlevania: Symphony of the Night at 320MSP and the Star Wars pinball tables for Pinball FX2 in a few hours.

[EDIT: Tylerh, I am surprised ya commented yesterday when I had made no mention of my suggestions until now, you must be psychic]

Such a downer, I still remember it fondly. I had almost forgotten about it, but now that it is brought up again, I am still overcome with sadness. The app self-destructed on me too, removing traces of itself from even the dashboard. Regretfully just for a few small megabytes, I went ahead and removed the carcass from my 360's hard drive. The Microsoft Point savings it provided over the weeks outweigh the storage space savings, but had it remained I would be in danger of treating the app like the guy in Weekend at Bernie's.
You do realize that part of the gameplay involves keeping cards hidden from other players, and cashing them in, just like in Risk?
Ah, this is where the VMU could had shined inside the DC controller, an idea ahead of its time or more likely not practical for gaming on consoles. Guess some games aren't meant to be for our modern standard home console controllers.
also, i've found online achievements are great for arcade games. games with 'win 5 games online!' achievements and such are waaaay more likely to have active online years down the road; heck i've been pulling out risk factions a lot lately and was amazed i can find lobbies in seconds even at the weirdest times, and i guarantee it has a lot to do with the game being riddled with online achievements that are hard to get. it's a great tactic to keep games online, even if the achievement hunters hate it, those achievement hunters pump life into games that otherwise would be empty online.
All points agreed to except this quoted part. Sometimes it may not be life one would want to play with online ("stand there so I can stick this plasma sword up your booty 3 times, and then you can stick it up mine 3 times, and we both get the achievement for 3 plasma sword kills" sort of play). I would know because I remember waiting on Nexuiz games which never happened at one point, until the end. (Also shut down 2 days ago, the Skate 3 website features which are attached to 3 achievements.) While I'd wish for online servers to stay around for others to enjoy a game online, but it probably is not reasonable for games to maintain servers when server code is not released to the public.

This relates to deals, since the XBLIG Arcadecraft is supposedly discounted down to 80MSP at this time. However, a current concern of mine is that titles within XBLIG require an online connection even when there are no online features (using the gamertag as some form of age verification since the titles are not subject to ESRB ratings) to even start up. With my backlog, I may not even get to play the indie games soon. So titles under the XBLIG banner, may become bad purchases for me if the online functionality were to cease to exist, making the purchases more like rentals (and therefore a waste of my Microsoft Points). A shame considering I really want to buy Super Amazing Wagon Adventure for only 80MSP as well.

I also seem to keep missing out on opportunities to play alongside other CAGs here. It's okay, last one was Castle Crashers which would have been a lot of me complaining since the game is not my cup of tea. One day our tastes and timing will match up, I just hope the 360 servers are still up when it does. ^^
Rocket Knight, as noted in Tyler's list of games to never go on sale--now featured in that 2nd post way-up-yonder (thx Tyler)--is still 1200pts. I've wanted this game since its debut, but I just CAN'T bring myself to drop the virtual-coin on it and metacritic is useless with half of the reviews as great, while the other half are meh.

...By any small-chance, does anyone out there actually own it and have a view one way or another?

This is killing me, but damnit that's a lot of coin. Right now I've still got at least 1600 to spend if I wanted to get the final punchcard filled (which I only planned on doing if I was going to consider the rebate as a discount on the rest of my purchases) so even getting this would mean finding another game.
I have not played the game enough to give an honest assessment of the XBLA title. I loved the original on the Genesis and its SNES sequel, a lot. Yet, just based on my limited play of the title, I so far feel the XBLA reimagining lacks the same personality. The enemy and item placement seem stretched out. The colors seem a little more drab with less life. One would think the widescreen should benefit the game, because Sparkster could move quite fast and a 4:3 aspect could not give you enough viewable space to make good initial decisions (without memorization of map/enemies/items), yet the 16:9 of the XBLA edition does make it seem like Sparkster is a bit slower or emphasizes the sparse sprinkling of enemies. I think purchased the XBLA Rocket Knight Adventures and Vandal Hearts back when there was a spend X get Y refund reward offer and I had nothing else I wanted at the time. Considering I am a fan of the old 16-bit games I was very disappointed given the 1200MSP price of the XBLA edition (I would have tolerated them more if I paid less, or if the refund was larger) so far, it is a shame that I should have had the desire to continue on or get back to the XBLA game but I haven't =(.
I haven't 100% written it off yet, but it's relegated to the bottom of my backlog because I don't want to re-train my hands and brain to be able to properly control the camera.
Be forewarned that I specialize in neither neuroscience nor psychology, but I can understand how controls may dissuade someone from putting time towards the game immediately. I often retrain my mind and muscle memory going from FPS like Bioshock to left stick aiming in Dead Rising (1) and Deadly Premonition. Yet, I have difficulty transitioning from pad to joystick for fighting games; even though I can/have use stick in arcades, I've spent way more hours (decades) on pad. I know some people prefer their FPS with southpaw control schemes, and another set prefers "inverted" controls, nothing wrong with that, it's just their preference.

Also, sometimes a control barrier is part of the game design. For fighting games, the unique controls distinguishes players for their ability possibly opening up opportunities with mistakes in execution. I think Xbox Gunvalkyrie (I liked it for its control barrier, not many do) was designed with its control scheme on purpose to add a sense of reward for mastering its choice in button/layout. However, if the game design philosophy doesn't surround controls, such as the case with Beyond Good & Evil HD, which was more about its experience/world/story, the controls should be remappable as the player sees fit especially for something as minor as moving the camera.

Hypothetical pinball game, if d-pad down was my right flipper, right bumper my left flipper, X & B nudges table down and up, left analog stick up & down for table nudges right and left respectively, that would be an incredibly obtuse layout. I could in theory get used to the layout, but for pinball, I'd rather not and would more likely find a way to rewire the controller to something more intuitive to me like the standard left trigger for left flipper, right for right, and all nudges in the appropriate direction with the left analog stick. So, for Beyond Good & Evil HD on the 360, it is just a shame it does not have options to accommodate more camera options. Still, I love BG&E enough to say I hope you find a way to play it someday.

Darnit, I was supposed to post more frequently this week but with shorter responses, I still create text walls -_-. I am just to eager to buy stuff on discount when the change of month happens. I hope the rewards offer can be stacked with the purchases.

For the cards :
Geometry Wars Evolved 200
I Am Alive 480
Hell Yeah 480
Real Steel 320
Marvel Vs Capcom Origins 600
NBA Jam 600
NFL Blitz 600

Not a bad haul for 3280 though I would have taken Castlevania SON over Real Steel if I'd known it was coming up. Hopefully it can count towards a May punch card.
It seems there's official word as commented above, sorry for mislead you. Luckily i'm utc+1 so kinda match, but still has no sense to me: a month ends when it ends. Anyway, such a thing should be at least redacted in their rewards faq, as a disclaimer, cos the american shitstorm could be important.
It's complicated because they weren't fully clear. For instance on their twitter page they tweeted the following:

According to that statement I would assume it would either mean when April ends in the timezone you're in or actually when April ends according to whatever the last timezone on Earth is (is that UTC-12 or UTC-11 I'm not too sure?). But yes if they don't honour all purchases made at least when they were made on April 30th for the purchaser there will be a shitstorm and rightfully so in my opinion.

It's actually funny for an organization to be so unclear about their rules for a contest. You'd think they'd want to protect themselves from headaches by making it as clear as cheap soup.

The DLC was 50% off a few weekends ago.
What's the verdict on The Simpsons? I can't say I have fond memories of playing it in the arcade since I only have 2 or 3 times in my life, but I can say Im a huge fan of the show and beat em ups.
I played it when it was free on PS3 for Plus members. Honestly i never played it after one playthrough. It was okay, maybe better with friends, but i played it solo. I am not even thinking of buying it on xbox 360. Just my 2 cents.

Download the trial. I think we all remember plugging quarters into this game thinking it was the greatest thing on Earth. I don't think it still is but for the nostalgia alone it might be worth $5 to you. The gameplay isn't really all that up to snuff. Grab Scott Pilgrim if you want a tighter, more polished beat-em-up that isn't just a quarter thief, has a level progression system and actually is playable for hours and hours on end. This, like X-Men, is a quick experience that's over in 30 minutes. So be aware of that. It's weird how these sort of games are so small when I remember standing in front of them for hours and hours, not even feeling like I was making progress. They appeared so epic in my younger days. Now with unlimited continues they are beatable in the time it takes for the laundry cycle to finish.

I think it would rely greatly on nostalgia. I played it for the first time when I got it free with Playstation Plus, and it's pretty bad. It's really simple, really short, and it's obvious the developers had no idea what The Simpsons was and just randomly pasted the sprites they were given into a generic game.

I have an extremely distinct memory of spending a huge amount of quarters on it in a Quizno's with my siblings. It was some of the most fun I could remember, and I was always wishing we would go back one day (we never did, and I've never eaten at a Quizno's since).

Downloaded the trial based solely on this...consider my memory tarnished. One attack button, extremely repetitive and annoying enemies, and a lackluster presentation all jumbled together in a bland and flat out boring game. I really wanted it to be as good as I remember, but alas, I have been disappointed.

I would not waste my time, money, or brain power on it, and would not recommend it. If anyone has fond memories and wants to keep them that way, leave the XBLA and PSN versions alone:cry:

PS: I very much enjoy your Great Walls of Text, Crono, don't feel like you have to stop anytime soon;)
