Through the console, after first selecting to download a GoD you are greeted by a familiar gray confirmation screen that pops up displaying the size of the download as well as confirming the price. At the bottom of this gray pop-up is the instruction to press the "X button" in order to change the payment type to MSP. Pictured below with an arrow:
I think it would rely greatly on nostalgia. I played it for the first time when I got it free with Playstation Plus, and it's pretty bad. It's really simple, really short, and it's obvious the developers had no idea what The Simpsons was and just randomly pasted the sprites they were given into a generic game.
I like how you say generic. This game is old and for its time its like all the other games that were out. I enjoyed it since I played it as a kid at the arcade ages ago.

But to add if this is your first time playing it yea you will hate it. And it is short. Easy 200 G though.
I like how you say generic. This game is old and for its time its like all the other games that were out. I.
Is that not the very definition of generic?
If only FarCry 3 Blood Dragon wasn't so damn short :(
Talking about Blood Dragon, i can't recommend it at full price, even though is getting good scores across the board. All of the side missions are exactly like FC3 ones and they are boring. If you don't bother with them and collectibles, main story takes less than two hours to beat.

Other new games like Battleblock Theater, Monaco...is Mine have a lot more content for the same price.
Is that not the very definition of generic?
So are mega man, street fighter classics, streets of rage, etc. all generic? Cause they seem to be worshipped here.

Haha I dont either. I generally dislike all retro games from like 1995 and earlier. They are to basic. Simpsons was ok but I didnt count them all as being generic. Regardless it does not matter.
If only FarCry 3 Blood Dragon wasn't so damn short :(
How short? I really want it since FC3 was amazing but with the price and frequency of Ubisoft sales I'm inclined to wait. A short game would solidify that decision.

EDIT: Never mind. I saw the other post that said 2 hours for the main campaign. Yikes! Though I always take much longer than others and I enjoyed the side missions in FC3 so I expected more of the same just reskinned.

Thanks for playing CC earlier, guys! I'm down for more if you're interested. That includes other people too like skonson.

If there are any co-op achievements in The Simpsons I would like to get a group for that. I've had the game since the last sale but haven't touched it. I can help with the 6-player X-Men achievement too since I 100%ed it and wouldn't mind another playthrough.

It takes around six hours without rushing to 100% everything including the achievements.
According to that statement I would assume it would either mean when April ends in the timezone you're in or actually when April ends according to whatever the last timezone on Earth is (is that UTC-12 or UTC-11 I'm not too sure?). But yes if they don't honour all purchases made at least when they were made on April 30th for the purchaser there will be a shitstorm and rightfully so in my opinion. It's actually funny for an organization to be so unclear about their rules for a contest. You'd think they'd want to protect themselves from headaches by making it as clear as cheap soup.
Who said they were vague? They've mentioned they're using GMT as the timezone cutoff in several promotions before. The reason they do this is because the timestamp for your transactions shows up in GMT server-side, and then they'd have to apply an extra calculation to determine your local timezone. By standardizing on GMT, it's consistent for residents of the 50 United States (including District of Columbia), United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Spain, and Taiwan.

To flip around your argument ... is it fair to allow Australia/Japan to have 17 more hours to purchase content (on their May 1st) than for residents in USA's Hawaii?

Need more proof? Check out the Tomb Raider contest rules ... http://rewards.xbox.com/tomb-raider/official-rules/ ... see how they specifically indicate UTC times? UTC is the same as GMT.

Hahaha, May the 4th be with you?? And they do a whole week offer. Nice special Star Wars sales promotion. I just bought it, been waiting for it to drop for about... 2 months? :D
Based on the link below from the Xbox forums, you had to make a purchase by April 30 00:01 UTC. If my google-fu is working (please someone correct me if I am wrong), that was about 2.5 hours ago. Yes but no mention of a closing time was specified for this particular promotion. I checked the page multiple times and couldn't find any reference to it. Hence my saying that they were vague and lacked clarity. Even in your forum posting to XBLRewards5 it's clear that there is a lack of clarity on their part internally to the exact time that the promotion ended. They should have done what they did in those previous promotions and clearly state the exact universal time that the promotion ends. Considering they've done it before it's even more of a fail as every promotion should have a similar template of information provided to the participant. All they likely had to do was copy and paste that but they failed to do this here. And in this particular instance of the twitter response they said it ends when "April ends." Well we know that on planet Earth time is subjective based on where you live. Had they said when April ends GMT time then I wouldn't have an issue. But they didn't. Which would lead me to believe that purchases would be valid until midnight April 30th according to the timezone I'm in.

So all I'm saying is that it's completely unfair for someone in Hawaii who reads that twitter feed (which is supposed to be one of the ways in which the promotional company communicates and answers questions with participants) and then believes that they can purchase a game up until midnight the night of April 30th their time only to find out that it did not count due to inconsistencies in communication on the part of the organizers. I really don't care if it's a matter of them not wanting or being able to do certain calculations of your specific time zone. That's their problem. It's their responsibility to communicate the rules of a promotion in a clear and accurate and consistent way and they didn't do that here. Hopefully it won't cause any headaches with anyone and their purchases. But I can see how it might for people who were looking at last minute purchases of this week's DOTW for instance. And I think considering how poorly a job they did in explaining the rules of the promotion that they will need to honour any purchases made til midnight in whatever timezone you were in. And I know if I was affected by that I would argue til I was blue in the face on the principal of the matter. Hopefully in the next promotion more care will go into clearly stating start and end times of the promotion so that this sort of thing won't occur again.

That probably means 10-12 hours for me. I'll try to hold out some more.

I picked up the Star Wars DLC tables for Pinball FX2. I'm excited to try them out.

Yeah, it's probably worth spending the extra $5-$6 and getting one like this:

Any type of memory with bad reviews is an instant no buy. I would hate to lose all my media if it decides to crap out after a few weeks:cold:
I forgot to update the title of the thread. I suck.
Don't feel bad. I think many of us are still conditioned to overlook it after the "good ol' days" of ReddJoey leaving it outdated by a month or so.

It wouldn't be the end of the world for me, but I tried very desperately to scrape up 20 hours of XBLA time in the last four or five days and I hope I succeeded. I had one stamp before my kind-of-a-marathon and have now upgraded to a whopping two. Come on, 3 to 5 days!

I'll volunteer to help. I already have all the achievements in both games and need an excuse to play them after so long. Loved 'em in the arcades, they're not really as bad as most in the thread are making them sound (at least the X-Men one), and the Simpsons one DOES include unlockable extras (like a Sound/Music Test, information screens, etc.). So I'd recommend either for $5, especially if you have some local/online friends to co-op with.

My haul for this Punchcard thing:

Retro City Rampage (600)
Quarrel (200)
Mercury Hg (200)
Dungeon Defenders (480) (FINALLY below 600)
Geometry Wars 2 (200)
I am Alive (480)
Gotham City Impostors (600) (Have no idea why)
Black Knight Sword (400) (whoo Suda51)
From Dust (480)
Carcassonne (400)
Dungeon & Dragons: Daggerdale (320) (Why not? I mean they replaced the WHOLE game, lol)

Total -> 3960/$49.50. Probably shoulda waited to buy Daggerdale today or later, but oh well. Held off on buying the Star Wars FX Tables at least. (It's fantastic that they are on sale so soon.)

If you're wondering why none of the supergood games on sale are included, it's because I already had all of 'em. :)

Edit: Don't sweat it Tyler. Dark_inchworm's right on the money there.

Edit 2: Added achievement point notes to the DLC. Star Wars has 3 achievements worth 50 GS each.

Definitely grabbing SotN based off all the positive talk last week, and going to grab X-Men while I'm at it so if anyone wants to play, add me on XBL.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Extremely popular title around these parts, for pretty good reason.

FYI, the Twitter posts from @XboxLiveRewards will be run by more-experienced folks that work side-by-side with the @XboxSupport folks ... and even they were saying to get your purchases done on April 30th:
https://twitter.com/XboxLIVErewards/statuses/329309248125272064

Y'all are correct that the terms of this promo were crap, however, and ePrize really dropped the ball on not having legalese like with their other promos.

I don't often have the opportunity to post or be available at this hour, so I am not used to the transition from one month to the next. I know typically DotW flips over around (USA) late night to early morning, but the unique monthly rewards offer still appears to have not changed (only the survey so far has changed). I am itching to purchase especially in hopes the rewards offer for May can stack with some of the discounts (really hoping it is some DLC punchcard offer so the Pinball FX2 tables would qualify). I guess it could just be my frustration knowing I currently cannot play a recently released 360 game, and I'm eager to experience some new games.
Might as well go ahead and come out that I don't care for any of those *flame shield on*
Stuff, stuff, stuff and stuff
history and stuff 'n stuff
people, people, someone's name, history, and sports
big disaster, someone's name, stuff n' stuff, and stuff, and stuff
history, someone's name, something I don't know
famous guy, movie star
don't know who these people are
stuff and stuff and HISTORY
YELLING REALLY LOUD AT ME

The above said in the cadence of a certain tune about flames. Moving on, it's fine that some games old persons as I consider great do not fit your tastes. I understand that, which is why I tend to preface my recommendations with "I have a weird taste in games" (and I do) which I recognize is of my own. I favor pixel art, chiptunes, and sometimes even simplistic game mechanics & story, yet I am aware they are not preferences shared by others. I guess with my advanced age, my vision, hearing, and reaction times goes, which may be the origin of my choice in preferences.

Even with nostalgia, I can still recognize play mechanics which I may have fallen out of favor with, since tastes can change over time. I remember passing up on a discount on X-men at 200MSP, because in my memories I recall it was more about the spectacle of the machine: two screens, 6 potentially simultaneous players, some voiced dialogue (which was a technical achievement with the sound chips at the time). The hardware spent so much resources towards the spectacle that it had little left for the remainder of the game with about 4 total generic enemies all palette swapped at only 1 type a time for a long stage until the unique threshold guardians. The Simpsons was reliant on the franchise much in the same way as the Turtles (however, the SNES home port of Turtles in Time did make improvements in its mechanics to incorporate some player technique which sets it apart, because they actually put effort knowing that the dynamics of playing at home is different than the goals of an arcade machine).
I'm loving the Clone Wars table. The other two are also good btw, but there are too many video sequences in the Episode V table imo.
The timing for the discount on the tables couldn't be better for me. I just practically finished (as in no longer on the backlog, but I will revisit) the Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection a couple days ago and thought "if only more new Pinball FX2 tables would go on sale, I could get more pinball on." I haven't tried the trials for the tables, but I will likely just outright purchase the tables in the next couple days. I always thought video sequences add in some variety with mini-games to the pinball experience.

I'm not a fan of the Star Wars franchise, but I know it has brought some games I have enjoyed like X-wing/Tie Fighter and KOTOR which are great examples of convergence of movies and videogames (like NES Batman, GoldenEye, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, X-men Origins: Wolverine, Chronicles of Riddick, and many more from animated movies, I also heard Spiderman 2 is good but I have yet to try that). Movie to pinball has transitioned well like Adams Family. I like how the last few times a movie due out or celebration inspired discounts on pinball tables, such as when the Avengers film was set for release the Captain America, Avengers Chronicles, and Vengeance & Virtue packs/table went on discount. The May the 4th discount is silly, but I'm not complaining. Being the only remaining movie-inspired table yet to see a discount, I can only hope there's some celebration for Fantastic Four so that table could get a discount.
Is the Knives Chau add-on worth getting? I'm being stingy, but I'm not going to buy something that won't add any noticeable value to the game.
It just adds an extra playable character. She does have a pretty good jumping shuriken attack which covers a decent range diagonally below and in front of her. I could be wrong, but back then I think it also added the "dodgeball" and "battle arena" modes as well which at least gave a couple new backgrounds and I think only the weapons (balls) do any damage in the dodgeball mode (the modes are forgettable to me so I've not spent much time on them to remember). I love the game so much I had to get the DLC then, but see for yourself if it is for you.

Star Wars Pinball tables or Scott Pilgrim? I've only got 480 points currently. Played the demo for Scott Pilgrim, and kinda enjoyed Castle Crashers more. Does the game become more enjoyable as you play?

Did it say anywhere that there would be a unique punch card every month?

Honest question, since so many people are assuming there should be a new one today. Maybe they know something I don't?

"Each Punchcard is unique and new ones are popping up all the time, so stop by often and see if you're up to the challenge!"

This was on the rewards page so this could be the reason. To me it seems like they are going to make it a continuing thing.

I didn't like Scott Pilgrim's game too much, though I enjoyed doing the Knives Chau achievement a lot.
One you have to keep jumping over zombie heads without ever touching the ground (in my case, because I did in the zombie waves mode unlocked with that DLC, though you can do it in the final boss -watch video on youtube)
.

Scott Pilgrim improves a lot once you've upgraded your character,
playing fair or with a second controller and doing the KONAMI CODE with the character you don't want to upgrade, then going to a video rental and paying your debt to acces to the good items
.

On the other hand, the SW tables are very pleasant to play, so all depends on what do you want to play.

I'd say it's worth the 80msp, it adds new modes, and Chau.

For 80 points you get achievements and a few new game modes. I think it's a bargain. I remember thinking that it was one of the most fair DLC prices when it came out at 160pts and was hoping more XBLA games would get DLC priced at that level. Sadly that trend didn't take off. Plus if you are buying Scott Pilgrim to begin with it's at that weird 320pts mark which means you'll be left with an odd number of points. Might as well grab the DLC and make it an even 400.

Can anyone recommend Zombie Driver? I was watching a bunch of videos online, some hated the damn game and others swore it was amazing. Any opinions? I'm seriously tempted to grab 800pts so I can pick up Star Wars Pinball and so I'd have some points left over and was thinking about grabbing that game. Any thoughts? Opinions?

I own 20+ tables for the XBL version of Pinball FX2 and usually get them whenever they go on sale but this time I'm holding off because I already own the 3 Star Wars tables on PSN/Vita (because of cross-buy and the free $10 Sony was handing out about a month ago). I thoroughly enjoy each and will recommend this bundle at this price. Star Wars fans will appreciate the music, sound effects and dialogue.

I have access to the Scott Pilgrim game with PS+ but haven't even touched it yet so I can't speak to that, but personally feel that pinball tables have infinite replay value compared to the majority of action/adventure style games.

@Cornelius: How do you see what time was logged for each transaction on the MS accounts page? I wasn't expecting there would be a problem w/ this whole punchcard thing as I'm usually understanding and thorough when it comes to events like this. My concern would be that I purchased Plants v. Zombies "4/29" and Peggle immediately after on "4/30" to finish off at exactly 3200pts.

Also, I'm reluctant to wait the said "3-5" days for punchcards to update and would like to clear this confusion. However, I'm not sure I'd get anywhere and instead be shoved the inevitable "3-5 days" mention. Any opinions?

My April Haul (Yes, including April 30th as per my MS Acct. Page)

A World of Keflings- 400pts
Hydro Thunder- 600pts
Castle Crashers- 800pts
From Dust- 480pts
Plants v Zombies- 600pts
Peggle- 320pts
TOTAL- 3200pts

*Haven't even played FC3 yet, but FC3:BD looks highly entertaining on it's own. Any reason to hold off until I actually play/purchase the main?

Instead of editing my above post I wanted to make this separate as some have shorter attn. spans than ...

Anywho, I wanted to share what I just came across in regards the issue of what/when/where/how "April 30th" exists on Earth. From http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_rewards_support/f/29/t/872052.aspx *Edit: When I linked this, the question wasn't established as officially being answered but has since changed to "Verified Answer" status.*

Basically from a rep:

"Hi Shadeshooter! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, the April Punchcard offer ends at the close of April 30 23:59 UTC. We did see that you made the purchase and that means you have completed the Spend More Get More Punchcard. Cheers!
@Anton - Hi! Please post your own thread on the forum and we'll let you know if your purchases were eligible for punches. Cheers!"

So now we've seen even more of it all. Not sure if this clears anything up or not, but you can bet my PrtSc button has been busy.

Nope it's completely unrelated asides from gameplay being reskinned, so go ahead :). It also gives you a reason to pick up FC3 later if you end up wanting more.

Thanks chief! And the grammar Nazi in me apologizes for utilizing the wrong form of "its" in my op.
Will Banjo Kazooie1 and 2 ever go on sale?
You would need a time mission to catch them on sale. Kazooie was on sale April 2011 and Tooie was on sale in June and December of 2010.

Great Scott!

Yeah, still pissed at myself for passing. They put Tooie on sale first and I still didn't own the first so I was annoyed and skipped it. Then when the original subsequently saw a sale I was further annoyed.

Same thing happened to me with DeathSpank the Baconing. I passed on its sale because Io didn't own the first two and it hit sale first. Now I own the first two and refuse toay full price for the third. Lmao.
Thanks - picked this DLC up based on your comment :)

Are you the quest giver that is handing out Time Missions?

The Punchcard FAQ makes it seem like that'll be a monthly feature:
To check out the available Punchcards, log into the Xbox LIVE Rewards site and visit the MyPunchcard page. The amount of available Punchcards each month will vary.

The quest involves building a Tardis out of popsicle sticks, fishing string, quartz crystals and a plutonium core.

I bought Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon earlier and so far my initial impression is very positive. I really like the humor and style.
