Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

I gave my Dad Ryse so I am happy to see it on the list.  I might even redeem my SP DLC code now.  Already played TWD S2 so that is a bust.  Played Darksiders on the PS3 so I am cool with getting it on the 360.  There are some achievements on AC: Revelations I might try to get if I am feeling bored.  Overall this is a pretty solid month.  Those are all quality games.

All those BC games are on X1 already!

... which is really cool that developers are willing to throw a bone to people not willing to upgrade *stares at Capcom*

Also a damn good month for GWG. I held off on Walking Dead Season 2 hoping it was free after seeing it on PS+. It took awhile but it's finally here so I'll be beating that next month. The rest of the games are gravy since I already own them.

Also on the BC side I believe Darksiders 2 on X1 isn't quite good in terms of performance. So if you own it via GWG you might as well stick with the BC version. On the other hand, DS1 on X1 is quite improved. 30fps vs 60fps. It also got a 4k patch on PS4 so one can hope for the same when Scorpio arrives.

Long live BC! In honor of this triumphant week of compatible backwardness, I present to you my top five remaining wishes for BC, regardless of likelihood:

1. Culdcept Saga

2. Alpha Protocol

3. Catan

4. Civilization Revolution

5. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (I've debated on the remaster, but so far I'm saying fuck no to restarting and doing 200 hours of crap I already did all over again)

Honorable mentions: Kingdoms of Amalur, Mark of the Ninja, the Arkham series (I know, not happening), Mortal Kombat vs. DC, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur IV and V, Splinter Cell Conviction, Panzer General, Commanders: Attack of the Genos, South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play!, Sonic's Ultimate Game Collection, Hasbro Family Game Night

Yes, I'm the guy getting excited when random shit everyone else forgot about goes BC. Gives me hope for my niche titles going BC one day.

That sounds like a story worth hearing
It's a long story so bear with me. Also, some parts of the info may be out of order because I can't remember all the little details. There was a LOT of bullshit that happened....

About a year ago, I had purchased a copy of Bravely Second Collector's Edition from Best Buy and after it had been delivered, I had decided that I did not want it due to my backlog of games being so large. So, I had seen people on these forums asking if anyone had an extra one for sale. I noticed one dude on here (who's name I will keep private) asking if anyone had an extra. So rather than return it, I figured I would help out a fellow CAG. I messaged him and a deal was made for the game at the price I paid + shipping.

The DAY I received the package, we worked out a deal for the game with shipping added to the price. I wanted to get the game to him ASAP, so I opened the package and inspected it, and then turned around and mailed it out to him that same afternoon. Mail had already been picked up at my office, so I printed out the label and had my buddy who was leaving work and had time to get to the Post Office, drop it off for me. Package shipped and I thought that was that.

The next morning, I get a message from this kid asking why I shipped the package via Media Mail. In all honesty, I had no idea I had done so. The shipping was a bit cheaper than I expected, but it was busy as shit at my office and I did not even notice that Media Mail had been chosen as the shipping speed. Regardless, I spent the better part of that Saturday trying to get the package intercepted and returned to me, which I couldn't do. We eventually came to an agreement, which I have screenshots of , that he would refuse the package, and upon me receiving it back, I would refund him his money. I had offered to pay any fees associated with the package should he be assessed some and he then declined saying he found one cheaper for $71 bucks which to me was fishy. If I remember correctly, he had opened up a Non-Receipt Claim through PayPal BEFORE I had even had a chance to write him back after he sent the first message asking about Media Mail. I admitted complete fault for the shipping error and offered to take care of any fees associated with the delivery. He didn't want the item because he already bought another one.

So, the next day I think, he messaged me asking me where his refund was. I had told him that once I received the package back, his refund would be sent just like we had agreed. He then proceeded to go bat shit insane and call me a scammer, con-artist, horrible seller, etc lol. I said listen. We agreed that you would refuse the package, and once I received it back, I would refund you your money. I think it was at this point he escalated the case through PayPal which then took the funds from me and put them in limbo.

Five days after the game was mailed,I saw that the item was delivered, and called PayPal to ask what I should do since the claim this kid had opened was a non-receipt claim. THEY ruled the decision in my favor, I did not ask for them to do so, and they told me, just as we had discussed, that once the item is returned to me, he could receive a full refund. I had NEVER had a package rejected before, so I had no clue how long it takes info to be updated. A friend of mine told me that when he rejected a package from a seller one time, the tracking info immediately updated to reflect the item was refused. That paired with the info I looked up online, I had no idea what was going on other than my item was delivered. I was going by what he and I agreed on, along with what PayPal told me to do in terms of the return. At this point he went absolutely fucking nuts and started spouting off bullshit insults and what not. TWO HOURS LATER the package came up as rejected which was super fucking fishy. I ended up calling USPS as well as the Post Office in his city to find out what the hell had happened, and in this time he had contacted PayPal and got his money refunded to him. So, I was out the game as well as the money. The USPS Representative told me that if he had rejected the package, it would have never shown up as delivered, and he most likely received it and then returned it to his local Post Office to be rejected after the fact.

There was some back and forth between messages over the next few days which were pretty argumentative, and I had said "Where is my returned package? You had better hope it shows up". He took this as a violent threat, screenshotted it, reported me to the admins on these boards, blocked me from messaging him, and reported this entire transaction to some online sellers board. It was fucking ridiculous. My package he had "rejected" was then lost by the Post Office in his home state. I ended up trying to call them and finding out where it is, which I reported to the mods on these boards. In the time that all this shit was happening, he had left me negative seller feedback, and I did the same. There was a whole feedback dispute and in the end both feedbacks were removed and we were told to not leave feedback for each other anymore.

Then, I get a message from him in a group convo with me, him, and one of the mods, with a screenshot of a police report he had filed with his local police department for apparent "Online Threats" as well as bullshit claims that I was harassing his local Post Office and if I didn't stop, they would take legal action against me as well. At this point I was like "You've gotta be kidding me...". I ended up getting in contact with the officer in charge of the report and we had a couple discussions over the next few days. In a nutshell, the Officer told me that the kid was paranoid and nothing would come of this. It was basically one of those "deterrent type moves" to make him feel better about the situation. We had a good laugh about it though.

In the end, my package ended up being lost for over a month, and PayPal refunded me the money since I never got my item returned at that point. Low and behold, a couple weeks later it shows up at my office (turns out HIS Post Office had lost the fucking thing according to USPS) heavily damaged, opened, and smashed, with some bullshit black ink scribbled all over the box. I called USPS about that too, and they told me it would NEVER be opened like that. The game itself was even opened and damaged. I think he received it, destroyed it, and then returned it as I mentioned above. But keep in mind that is just an assumption, BUT the kid was so mad I wouldn't be surprised. I honestly feel the kid has some mental issues or at the very least trauma from possibly being beat up when he was younger or something. Whatever though, it is in the past now and when I look back, all I can do is laugh.

Hope you enjoyed the story haha

And this is why I don't sell on here and why I stopped selling on ebay. I know there have been people with good transactions and the amount of troubled individuals is probably low, but I'd rather not chance it. I'd rather open a package and trade it in to Amazon/BB/GS for less money than risk going through all this trouble.

I would definitely be open to having Kingdoms of Amalur become BC. I am still playing on that game! Shame what happened to the makers of the game -- long, drawn out mess. But a great game.

Only issue I have EVER had was with that kid. Goes with the territory though. There is always one little shitball out of the bunch.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had a damaged copy of the game and wanted your nice new copy and swapped them rather than he was angry at you and destroyed your copy.

Very happy that we finally got a full week of BC releases. Very nice to see the games coming for next month's GWG as well. Some real good stuff. Hopefully this revitalizes Ryse's multiplayer for at least a couple weeks.

+1 for sharing your hobby with friends & family. I've tried to get my dad to play something other than Emperor: Battle for Dune lol. He's a big RTS guy, and I tried to get him to play C&C: Generals but it was something new and he reverted back to Emperor. I think I should get him to install that copy of StarCraft II now that he's got unlimited internet (and always having to upgrade that game was a problem).

To celebrate the launch of Colony Reborn, Respawn is running a free weekend for Titanfall 2 from March 30 through April 3. This will include access to the full suite of multiplayer modes, as well as the Gauntlet training mission and the first single player campaign level. Those two missions will remain free to play forever, too. Plus, you'll be able to grab double XP that whole weekend, so it might be the perfect time to dive back into the movement-based shooter.

Well that guy is a nut! Why is MediaMail so bad? Too slow? Man, that's some real bullshit you went through for doing a favor. No good deed goes unpunished.
Funny story

I ordered a game a couple weeks back off eBay. Seller shipped it via Media Mail and it came fine. I'm sure his game would have been fine too had he NOT said anything about it. He thought both myself and him would get into legal trouble because of it....lol

I've been told at the post office that video games do not qualify as media mail; only DVDs, CDs, books, and magazines qualify, but that is WAAAAAAY too much of an extreme reaction

As someone that has sold a lot of games over the years, people get really butt hurt if you send media mail. Even if it comes perfectly fine they usually try to demand a partial refund lol.

I would really like to know how well Titanfall  2 has done from a retail view.  It is such a great game.  Honestly EA may have been better served releasing TF2 in this March window and holding ME:A until Sept.

I do wonder if there are any legal obstacles whatsoever to making NCAA 14 BC or if it's just EA being dicks. I don't see how it could be an issue.
I imagine there's quite a bit that goes into the licensing agreements with the annual sports franchises that will keep them from becoming BC. NBA Jame On Fire Edition is the only major American sports league title that's BC right now, so that may give some hope for NCAA Football.

If it was Austria wouldn't the ratings for the games have PEGI ratings not ESRB?

Ryse is very likely. They gave it away for free a few years back via a promo if you subscribed to Gold via some ad on the Xbox One dashboard. They like to give away the same games they once gave away via other promos.
They also sent digital codes for Ryse to new Xbox One owners around October 2014. I think the season pass went on sale for $10 shortly after.

This is correct. You can also send vinyl records through media mail. The post office (at least mine) has been cracking down on non media items shipped by media mail and say they can open media shipments to confirm it is suitable. I go to the post office frequently so they don't question me but they used to be pretty pushy about it.

An overly packed video game can be shipped for under $4 by first class mail. Usually people shipping media when they shouldn't are just trying to make an extra buck at the expense of shipping time. I think media can take up to 2 weeks but first class is usually less than a week.

Yeah, the buyer had a very bad reaction.

So you generated the mailing label at home but didn't notice that you selected media mail? Do you normally select media mail? Also, you can do tracking with media mail? (I'm not sure I've ever shipped via MM before :)).

That particular game is pretty big and pretty heavy, it would probably cost ~$10 to ship.

I forget the exact weight, but I think it's 8oz and under and media mail is the same price as first class. I think eBay even gives a discount too when you print the label through them. Most games are probably not going to be more than 8oz.

Media mail is slow.

I had a drop down of the mail selections through PayPal mail and picked the most reasonable one (was looking solely at prices which was my fault). I printed the label, didn't even look at the top text, applied it to the box, and gave it to my friend to mail for me. It was mistake on my end. and yes tracking info does come up But the entire ordeal after me admitting fault was ridiculous.

I've never shipped anything Media Mail, and usually always go Priority/First Class. He swears I tried to scalp him on shipping and then lie about it after the fact. I think in total I spent close to 20 hours on the phone with USPS, most of those hours being on hold, while trying to get this package issue handled.

Forgot to mention, I offered to refund him the difference in shipping price from what he paid and what I was actually charged (like $3.00) but he refused and said I was a scam artist.

I know your dad's type because I'm like that too. If he likes Dune, he's not going to enjoy StarCraft II or C&C Generals very much. Modern RTS has a different "flavor", for lack of a better word. What you want to get him is Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection, which comes with all the games in the series. When it's on sale on Amazon or Origin, it's only $5 - quite a steal. Alternatively, you can get him Red Alert 3 or Halo Wars. Both are available on X360 and have full campaign co-op so you can play together.

Well dang, I forgot I had a month of Gold back in 2014 because I wanted Halo: Reach before I started subscribing regularly, and already got Darksiders 2 in the process. Pretty happy about that.

In Spraykwon's story, I'm really confused why that guy got so upset about media mail? Maybe he wanted it sooner, but that seemed to set off this whole nonsense and I really don't understand why.

That doesn't bode well for me. I've been waiting a week and a half to get a final answer, after my initial 2+ hour phone call during which I let them take over my computer to gather evidence - the same evidence they have made me subsequently email them. I have the original screenshot of the deal terms taken on my phone, they show it was supposed to run through 11:59 PM PST on the 27th. The last time I looked at it, I noticed that the end date showed "2016" (whereas the start date correctly shows "2017"). I suppose they could use that to claim that other parts of it, such as the end timezone, were in error as well. Screenshot_20170227-223735.png
Finally got an answer back after more than a week and a half. They sent me a $75 Microsoft online store code (not windows/Xbox store), with an expiration of March 31. I probably could have searched for a better use, but I ended up buying $75 Xbox credit. At least it won't expire. Of course, it didn't come in time to get the RE Super Bundle for $20 (I was online and aware both times it dropped that low, but only had $5 in my account because I was waiting for this reimbursement). I'm not big into RE anyway, but I probably would have bought it for that price. At least now I can buy Fru and Wheels of Aurelia (probably).

It bums me out when I have so many of the freebies but the good news is I'm not getting some random games with expensive dlc that will tug at my collecting irritation strings over the years/months, always a silver lining

Bastard! When did you buy the movies? I got them on the last day and they argued to me that it was already over when it clearly was not on the site and at least the individual text on each film.

Only thing they would do for me was refund. Lost all the movies. Nothing other than a pain in the ass for several hours of phone calls and emails.

As a lowball seller, I had a situation which braiins described where I sent something as media mail and it came back a month later saying it does not qualify.  That was the only time (once) it has happened since I usually ship first class.

PS: I have a lowball auction going on right now with Versafied if anyone is interested. Contains Xbox One stuff and more:

Because he's a fucking nut! He has never had anything more substantial from his depressing life than collectible video games. Nobody lashes out like that unless they are off their meds or haven't been diagnosed as yet, IMHO.
