Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

It's a lot of fun. Closest thing to Mario Kart there is (that I know of).
I enjoyed the hell out of it on my Vita when it was on PS Plus, the single player campaign is really robust. MK is the better game mechanically, but it felt really empty in terms of content after playing Transformed.

Rant ahead!

I'm starting to hate Microsoft and the idea of always online crap. I have no internet at my house so I have to take the xbox to work twice a month to update and get the GWG. This also allows my profile and game saves to sync to the cloud and in return unlocks the achievements I have earned.

I guess this started a few months back but I noticed some achievements not unlocking while others did. I figured it was the publishers who made the achievements unobtainable unless the xbox was online at the time of the unlock, when I went back into some games I was able to unlock them while online.

Fast forward to today, I beat Dues Ex, Watchdog 2, MW:I, and another game I can't think of. Not a single achievement pop, I beat them all on hard, followed a few guides to help get some achievements and nothing. Meaning the only time I can play the xbox with achievements enable is at work! Who's idea was this?!?

Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl Win Edition :)

Well, hopefully we'll at least get a free Big Mac from McDonald's if they score.

Wow, how do you not have internet access at your house? Is it not possible where you are - like are you on a farm in the middle of nowhere or in one of those trendy tiny houses? Or is it just wildly expensive where you live? If for personal reasons, I mean no offense by my inquiry.

I know I don't post as much as I should, but I frequent this thread alot... and I'm pretty quick catching onto the inside jokes around here... but what is this Oman stuff you guys are referencing? The only thing I can guess is that some of you played with region settings attempting to get something free and ran into some issues. Am I close?

A few years back there was a pricing error where certain games were free in some countries. Oman was one of countries. I think there was Brazil and China too. I don't remember all of the countries. Anyway, some people were banned. Others slipped through the cracks. I don't know why some were banned and others weren't. Maybe sharing accounts? I dunno.

For GWG and stuff like that, it's pretty unavoidable, at least you can redeem them on the website. But having achievements locked to internet connections sounds completely ridiculous. In practice, it sounds like they aren't activated til you go online again, according to this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/2euush/why_is_an_internet_connection_required_to_earn/

But if they aren't unlocking next time you're online then they clearly aren't working as intended.

I can get 1.5mbps for $40 a month, here at work we are getting 10mbps for $45 a month. So not only is it slow as a snail going over sandpaper but it's expensive too.

To add to what CodeTrader said, part of the issue was also that these countries did not have an Xbox Live infrastructure. If you sign into an account in these regions, there's nothing. No online, no storefront, nothing.

Someone figured out that the price set for certain games in these regions was $0, and figured out a work around to get the games to show up so they could "buy" them even though there isn't an official storefront to get them from. Microsoft's response seemed to vary, since there were probably a lot of different people responding to situation. Some people got console bans, some got GT banes, and some did slip through unscathed.

I'm considering switching providers. I'm currently paying $39.99 for Charter Internet (60 Mbps). It's some special retention price for the year. I got it when I was considering cancelling. Normally $59.99 a month.

Anyone use tethering w/ their phone for home Internet? I've considered that. Any recommendations? Good or bad? Would like an unlimited plan. Does it work with Xbox?

Maybe AT&T Internet. I know it's a bit slower, but it's cheaper.

Seeing some of the comments in here about internet speed and cost, I'm going to sorely miss my Google Fiber when I move later this year.

I did this a few times when my internet was down and depending upon your phone and connection from your provider, it works well. Turn your phone into a wifi hotspot and you are good to go. The only problem is even most of the "unlimited" data plans start slowing your data down at either 5GB or 10GB so it would get hit pretty fast with streaming/gaming.

This reminded me to check my monthly data usage report with Comcast. Today being the last day, I've used 1012GB of 1024GB. So no internet for me the rest of the day.

It's just weird distribution/coverage, for sure.

I live in rural southern Michigan in a town of around 10,000. I can get a good national cable provider, the local municipal gov't cable provider, a telco DSL, and a wireless option. We've actually flip-flopped between the national provider and the local municipal one for price reasons and both were pretty good. We have no lack of good options right here I guess (but no fiber anywhere on the horizon).

I have a buddy that lives smack dab in the middle of Amish country in the middle of nowhere (nearest town is less than 1,000 people still 10 min. away, and getting groceries requires a drive of about half an hour to closest place with legit grocery store), and he gets (pretty good honestly) wireless internet from a local provider -- he can see the tower about a mile away from his place and given that it's Amish country it's flat, cleared fields everywhere so their coverage is pretty good.

However, I also know someone that lives juuuuust outside of town of a decent sized city with a MSA of around 150,000 people... and they literally have no internet options at all right where they're at (they're in between them all).

'Murica, everyone.

The $40 / 1.5MBps at home would probably still work good for unlocking achievements and other little online things that aren't downloading games or playing online. And refreshing this thread 500x a day, of course.

Sonic Racing Transformed is still at $15 and tempting me hard.
I enjoyed the hell out of it on my Vita when it was on PS Plus, the single player campaign is really robust. MK is the better game mechanically, but it felt really empty in terms of content after playing Transformed.
Sonic Transformed is a fantastic kart racer, better than MK imo. I love the intro music that plays when the game boots up, in fact a lot of the music in the game is great. Transforming into a boat or plane is also a blast. Well worth having on the XB1 or 360/PS3,

Definitely keep those movie ticket deals coming when you see them CodeTrader. As off topic as we are I don't think those posts hurt, and I assume most of us go to see the occasional movie.

I didn't know Crypt of the NecroDancer was coming to consoles, pretty glad to see it.

As for internet, I'm also in Michigan but my town is big enough to have a few options. Granted most of them are shit. I'm stuck with Comcast, who just fucked me over with a raise to $90 a month from $40. When I last changed plans it was cheaper to get the deal that included cable TV, which I never even hooked up. Now the cheapest seemed to be $50 and I had to take a pretty big speed cut down to 10 Mbps. I did at least learn that if you live alone then 10Mbps is actually enough. I'm able to stream video and play games at the same time, though sometimes I have to lower video quality if I am. The only things it has really effected are my game download times, along with whatever videos I digitally "rent".

Alright long post incoming;

Forza Horizon 2 Standard - 10th Anniversary Edition - $25.00 - 50% off

I never did get forza horizon 2

from a strictly single player experience what would you guys recommend buying from these?
As someone who plays the Forza Horizon games solo, they're def worth it esp at that price. Forza Motorsport is one of the best simulation racing series around thanks to Turn 10. Well Playground Games, the Forza Horizon people, starts with that base engine and then tweaks it to have a more arcadey fun vibe to it. Go with the base game & Storm Island, I personally never buy the "Ultimate" of any game but it'll largely relate to how much you enjoy the source content.

Who's idea was this?!?
I'm with you Bear. I used to be a big achievement hunter and oohh boy has that changed. Personally I strive for goals though, a lot of cool moments in many games were achieved via obtaining achievements I wouldn't have normally gone for (ally achievements, engineer/hitting level 60 in ME 1, bonus objectives on the tables for Pinball FX 1 &2, Challenge Accepted in Borderlands 2 - completing all the optional objectives with one character-, Free Runner-collecting all those god damn Orbs in Crackdown). A bunch of those would go along with listening to gaming podcasts too.

I can relate though as there's a plenty of achievements I have "achieved" and yet when I hop online to do an upload dump some or none pop, now I believe the game of said achievement needs to be patched fully, and I just get so pissed off for all the progress lost. There was a time when I got a bunch of achievements offline & while playing State of Decay that my Xbox literally told me, via pop up message, if I didn't go online and dump my local achievements they'd be lost.

Semi-related I had played through Halo 5 and beaten the game. Later on, I had then had issues, my Xbox wouldn't recognize me unless I was online, with one of the major updates my Xbox One got and the work around Microsoft and fellow company used was to factory reset the Xbox and redownload my gamer profile. That of course eliminates all the save files on your local storage but fear not you can just sync up online next time right. Well since it's fucking Halo 5, with half the updates for multiplayer, I had never taken that game online before so ... it's as if I never fucking played through the campaign - yet I do have the achievement progress of said conquest though.

Wow, how do you not have internet access at your house? Is it not possible where you are - like are you on a farm in the middle of nowhere or in one of those trendy tiny houses? Or is it just wildly expensive where you live? If for personal reasons, I mean no offense by my inquiry.
I'm the farm in the middle of nowhere, well Upstate NY as I'd say there's more places that are middle of nowhere than here (ie up in the Adirondacks or even hell, places in Kansas), right outside Cooperstown. My little town of East Springfield has internet access via Verizon and their cellphone tower, while folks 2 miles down the road on a major highway have TWC. This entitles us to 4G LTE speeds at 10 GB bandwidth cap, which we had to negotiate with Verizon support as they initially held us at a 5GB cap/month, at around over $100 a month, if we don't go over and get charged $15 per GB afterwards. The town over the hill is Springfield Center, where the library is, where everyone has cable with TWC. The town over the other hill is Cherry Valley, they've got cable too. Down the road on the other side of the lake is Cooperstown and they have cable but for Bassett hospital, the main thing in Cooperstown other than the Hall of Fame of course, they've got T1 pipped up through Oneonta, a town to the South.

We don't even have cable, and people want to jump ship from cable. All I hear is they're taking advantage of me, I hate cable, my speeds aren't high enough, blah blah and oh how I'd sacrifice a goat for fucking cable lol.

I had recently taken my system over to my Uncle's house during big holidays like Thanksgiving & Christmas. He lives over near Albany and I would do massive updates, downloads, etc but yeah that's not the best days of the year to do all that - also found out that a Xbox One fuckING SUCKS up your overall bandwidth as when I would come over all the other internet devices they'd use would suffer. I have previously taken my Xbox over to the only public wi-fi hotspot around me, my local library - which I joke and call my local Starbucks - via a setup in my Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Using its 115v outlet, a surge protector (even though the manual says lol use one device hooked up to it), a HDMI to Component video converter box, an external hard drive hooked up to the Xbox, the Xbox hooked up to the car's navigational/multimedia screen I could hook up via wi-fi to download games in my que and any updates in my que. Did I mention I used to be a Autotech Geek Squad guy.

As of last week I found out that I can't go this route anymore as my library added your typical wi-fi internet portal where as soon as you log into their wi-fi via a browser you're connected, before and not taking those steps you can't connect to their public wi-fi hotspot anymore. My Xbox connects and says alright, you're all set and sits there doing nothing like a retarded step child. I'm dead in the water...

Well at least I have a Wii U.

They have a plan to get us "high speed internet" here and other rural areas of NY, it's set for 2018.

No achievements, no go
See this was a thought previously of mine as well until I was unburdened by the Gamerscore meta system. When you play a game because you're enjoying it and playing it for the story or the experience you'll change that perspective. To all their own though, it's a pity I used to feel that way.

TLDR; fuck this 'er thing called the internets riiiiggghhht. *spits into spit jar, aka a Spittoon apparently.

ESO is officially getting a Morrowind expansion. The expansion alone will be $39.99.

New players can get the base game plus Morrowind for $59.99.

Some Destiny info has come out from a leaked MegaBloks set. Seems to line up with the Cabal themed expansion that was pushed back time and time again. It has Shaxx fighting the Cabal Red Guard (which currently do not exist) in the hangar of the Tower. Since we are supposed to be done with expansions it's probably from Destiny 2.

Two more leaked but don't mean much by themselves. A Cabal tank and a ship from the Vault of Glass.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1339356&page=1

From what we know of Destiny's troubled development, this is STILL content that was originally planned for launch or early DLC. To be fair it was last thing we've heard about from the original timeline of events, but the fact that this is likely going to be in Destiny 2 is insane to me. Normally I wouldn't think that much of a scrapped idea brought back for a sequel, but the fact that we kept having to pay for content that was cut from the original plan just kept bothering me. At least none of this content seems to have physically been in the base game like some areas of most of the past DLCs. Maybe it never got past the concept stages.

That was a really cool trailer. Is ESO any good as a solo game or would it be a waste of money if I'm not going to play it as an mmo?

All you had to say was "Comcast", man. My folks live over in Comcast country and it's pretty much a non-stop horror and gong show.

I'm fortunate enough to be in Charter territory. I know some other areas have problems with them, but dang are they rock-solid around here, including some excellent local service reps.

Be worse, gaming.... no, really.

Does that mean $40 a pop for each new region to fully unlock? Ugh...

The main thing tempting about the ESO Morrowind expansion would be just to play a "Remastered" version of Morrowind.

Are they planning to have quests tied to the original game? Or just the setting with new stuff?

Both Bizzquik and MoCiWe convinced me to jump in, mostly playing solo. And it is fun. Play it at your own pace.

This expansion is huge, to say the least. I think the price is fair.

So frustrating...

GIF of the day, right here.

So would this include all previous expansions as well?

EDIT - Objection, asked and answered.

So I guess buying the CE, then the base game digitally, and then buying the "Complete" or whatever version over the holidays wasn't the dumbest thing I could have done. Now, if I could only find time to play the game...

For anyone like me that has more consoles registered into the Preview Program than you actually own, and you find yourself having been allowed access to receive the latest update but not on any of those consoles (still with me?), read this:

https://forums.xbox.com/en-US/thread/6916968a-7617-4c6b-8131-130f75c0f466

I read this last night just before going to bed and ripped the blankets back to take care of it immediately.  Also, it wouldn't hurt to clean up your list of registered consoles.

Wait, hold the phone. Is it possible to get Ms Splosion Man as the Japanese GWG by changing my region? I would really enjoy playing that game. Would that be breaking any rules?

Quick question for you guys that have Forza Horizon 2 and Storm Island. I have Forza Horizon 3 and wanted Storm Island when it came out to do rally events. Does FH3 have that or is Storm Island a better experience?

It looks like the base game is like 9GB and then each additional episode is 4-6GB. Mine just arrived but based on those numbers I'm wondering if it's not a situation where they just put the core game on the disc then download the rest of the episodes and the disc acts as the DRM unlock for them. That's what other episodic games seem to be doing but it is weird if they took that approach on a game where they waited for it to all be out before releasing the disc version.

FH3 has snow racing so far.
