This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Double post. Found another drop.

Dead Island: Riptide - $11.99
I bought new copy for like $5 this week, from retailer here, who got rid of their older games. Also got ZoE HD for the same price. Good to see MS offer is not cheaper than that.

How to Survive - $7.49

State of Decay - $9.99
Been waiting for How To Survive, but still 7.49? Skip for now.

LOL. Finished Zombie Apocolypse on Saturday. If I didn't know how shallow the first game was I may have picked up the 2nd. :)
Haha, even playing with a friend, we both get quite bored at the end of the game. There are way too many better co-op titles on 360, so can't recommend this to anyone.

Guess nothing for me this week. At least there is Saints Row The Third for Gold members and probably will burn one month code, so i also can play a bit DSII pvp as well.

Pretty good sales, especially considering Europe doesn't get the bad side of the deals mostly. Dungeon Siege III is slightly more expensive (just over 6 Euros rather than 5 bucks), but it's a great price anyway, been meaning to play it and that's a lovely price. Considering Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which I bought on PS3 2 years ago and never started. For a fiver I'd rather play it on X360, but it'd be a good idea to use the PS3 version as a demo at the very least. State Of Decay and Plants VS Zombies are great games worth the full price too, even though the sales on them are fairly small I recommend them, both can easily give dozens of hours of fun. Likewise, 2.50 for Zombie Driver HD is a great deal, I admit that the game does get repetitive and tedious after some hours, and the lack of multiplayer is a huge minus for such a game, but at this price you'll have enough fun with it.

A pretty good drop, overall, and we will likely have more stuff on sale in a few days with Saints Row 3.

Does anyone know if you can still play Kane and Lynch Deadman's multiplayer online? I would just wanna play it with a friend, so I just wanna know if it's possible not if people are actually online.

Ah the game that started GiantBomb.

I'm pretty sure that both Kane & Lynch and its sequel's online servers have been shutdown and have been for a good year or two. I still think you can couch co-op the campaign splitscreen on a tv, not sure if the other multiplayer options are available for couch co-op offline play. But if you want to do online play I think you're out of luck.

Btw, Jim Sterling revisted Destructoid's review of the game just around the time of the sequel's release and wrote an interesting article

I hope so, because I want to buy some minor SR 3 DLC's at half price. Specially Nyte Blayde, since I already own the big DLC's from previous sales.

Crap, didn't realize that the Minecraft skins were going off sale already. Guess there's always next year. :whistle2:(
Tuesday kind of snuck up on me as well, but I am glad it did as I won't waste anymore money on skins packs when I always just use the same skin anyways. Plus, I may double dib on the next gen Minecraft since it's supposed to be a lot larger with less limitations, and I highly doubt our content from 360 will carry over to the Xbox One.

After an hour of searching it turns out the sale was only for two days according to one article I was able to find. Oh well I guess.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Lightning Returns DLC?  I'm seriously considering picking up the main game.  Not a fan of FF in general but I enjoyed the demo for this one.  Is the DLC basically just new skins?  If so, I'm not interested.  The Xbox descriptions aren't very helpful to someone like me that doesn't understand all the lingo - Is a new "schema" a good thing? -

I really like Dungeon Seige 3.  I haven't finished it so I can't speak for the longevity but it reminded me a bit of Torchlight without all the awesome loot.  I think it's a good deal at that price.

Sorry dude, but the reduced DLC's are all skins (schemata is skin apparently in this case).

According to TA people have unlocked online achievements very recently and I never heard about any server closures for these games...

The DLC is costumes and weapons, but they're not just cosmetic, they come with unique abilities and attributes. The Yuna, Aerith, and Cloud costumes are quite good and very helpful. Everything else is not really worth looking at unless you just want to collect 'em all.

Thanks! I was looking into those that you mentioned. More specifically, the Legends Pack. I think I'm gonna go with that one.

Oh, and Zombie Driver just because.

So I finally said fuck it after seeing what is on sale today and downloaded Sacred Citadel and Jungle Hunt DLC.

I have to decide if its finally time to download State of Decay and How to Survive. I passed on both the last time they were on sale. Now the key here is will they go cheaper? They are the same price as the previous sale. Decisions.

Major Nelson's post indicates that the original Dead Island (50% off), original Plants vs. Zombies (75% off) and Black Ops II Nuketown Zombies (50% off) should also be marked down for XBL Gold and Just Cause 2 (67% off) and Quantum Conundrum (67% off) should also be part of the Square Enix sale, though it doesn't look like those drops have taken effect yet.

I am really intrigued by Battlestations Pacific. Any opinions? I am really bad at shooters and sims in general. However playing World of Tanks for the last few months has me thinking I may enjoy this one.

June Games With Gold are Dark Souls, Charlie Murder, and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition for 360.

Yes, three. We're getting a bonus.

The program is launching on Xbox One with Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault. Additionally, Deals with Gold will be coming to the one with discounts on Ryse and Forza 5.

source

Also, Xbox 360 and One entertainment apps will no longer be bound to Gold subscriptions.

It also says Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault will be freebies on Xbox One. Hopefully they can be bought on the web marketplace without needing to own a system.

Is State of Decay worth it at $9.99?
Yes - it is incredibly fun - but you must play it consistently/regularly - or else pretty much everybody dies. Kind of a bummer if you only play it sporadically. Unless I am missing something - this happens to me each time I play (with a few weeks between sessions).

I would stay away from the new Xbox One without Kinect if you plan on using features such as snapping, recording clips without pausing gameplay, navigating the dashboard without pinning everything, etc.

Just got Charlie Murder not long ago from a sale. SSF4 is good timing with Evo right around the corner. Dark Souls was on sale not long ago too. Good choices for GWG. Own all three.

I don't have either of the Xbox One games, so I'm looking forward to playing those.

I think there is a vacation mode you can turn on.

dang, bought Dark Souls a few month ago when it was on sale and haven't played it yet. They should make it a rule not to give away a game that's been on sale within the past year. I'm glad the GwG are getting better games though.

Ugh, I own Dark Souls 1 and it's as a GoD as well. So no digital bonus for me. I also recently picked up Charlie Murder in the last sale after missing the first one during the holidays (must be selling like shit for the constant sales and now being given away). :wall: Only thing I'll be able to "buy" will be digital version of SSFIV (which I have on disk.. twice, in addition to a copy of standard SSFIV), which I'm sure is a GWG so Capcom can make bank on people upgrading to Ultra digitally for $15 (so basically they're doing it to be greedy). A note, buying Ultra at retail gets you all the costumes (both existing and new), upgrading digitally does not.

Great month for anyone who has 0 of the games though.

Oh, if anyone's confused as fuck about which Tomb Raider DLC comes in what pack, so you don't pay for the same thing twice, let me know and I'll post the breakdown for you.

SF4 is likely free because of the upcoming Ultra upgrade. The flowchart Ken army will probably make return.

I already have all 3 games, but at least I can get friends to play Charlie Murder.

You guys seem to be missing the important thing about the Xbone GWG:

We’re pleased to bring Games with Gold to Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One in June. Members will have subscription-based access to free games ranging from top hits to breaking indie stars.

They are going the PS+ route. They'll also start offering deep discounts (50-75%) on XB1 games for gold members starting in June. Works for me!

Really not so enthused with these GWG, but hey free is free I guess.

Dark Souls' reputation is such that I don't even want to try to play it, I gave up on Ninja Gaiden on the original XBox pretty quickly and returned it, and since then have heeded any warnings about difficult games by entirely avoiding them.  And I'm really not very interested in Charlie Murder, but we'll see once I have it.

Street Fighter might actually get played the most out of those 3.

I'm incredibly disappointed in the lack of variety in GWG thus far.  We have yet to see a Kinect game IIRC (which I know is no loss for many opinions, but still it seems rather odd).  There has not been a single sports or racing game.  We've had endless varieties of shooters and tower defense it seems though, and some RPG-esque ones like M&M and Dust  (though not a single true modern open-world RPG I think, unless you want to count Fable 3 as one, and as part of it).  Also Civ: Rev has also been the only true strategy game.  There has been no puzzle game either that I can recall.  Street Fighter would be the first fighting game I think.

GWG really desperately needs some more variety.  I'd be perfectly willing for more Arcade games if it meant a wider variety of genres to be included.

I own all 5 of these >.<

That said, all 5 of these are worth owning! So for people missing some/all you'll get some really fun games out of this batch!

I know I shouldn't have given in when Dark Souls was on sale for 4,99€ the third time lol...Anyway I wish it was just SF4 (because I have that as Retail) and would have 2 copies to play online against myself..it seems online is dead since arcade and higher editons came out (and no it's not possible to play against arcade edition owners if you only have SF4..)

I have to disagree with this. There hasn't been many similar games yet with GWG. The tower defense games are very different types of tower defense games. The shooters are different as well. M&M is a puzzle game. The closest to a similar type of game would be Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row 3. That might not even be accurate to say though because of how different they are.

I'd love to see sports, racing, and more fighting games too, but it isn't really fair to say there hasn't been much variety. Sports games would have to be really recent with how soon their servers get taken down. I wouldn't mind getting Madden 25, NFS Rivals, or SFxT port* for Xbox One.

Yes - it is incredibly fun - but you must play it consistently/regularly - or else pretty much everybody dies. Kind of a bummer if you only play it sporadically. Unless I am missing something - this happens to me each time I play (with a few weeks between sessions).
This has been said every time SoD is on sale but I believe it has been patched where they can't die on you while you're away. The speed at which resources dwindle go down each day I think so even a week later is not that long in game time. Hope that helps anyone. I've yet to play it myself since I bought it in December.

Happy I didn't jump on dark souls yet though. If there's one game I've been tempted to get at launch and experience online community with, it was dark souls. But the griefing scared me away and the sequel will probably have to wait unless I beat this one and love it.

Dang, bought Charlie Murder in a sale a ways back and haven't touched it yet. That's the way love goes.

Great selection overall. Free is the right price for me to give Dark Souls another shot and it'll be cool to have SSF4AE on the HDD for easy access, at least until Ultra comes out in August anyway.

. For Xbox One Games with gold you will need an active membership, I believe 360 will be staying the same. From Major nelon's page:

"Free Games Offer: For paid Gold members only. On Xbox One, active Gold membership required to play free games you’ve downloaded. Must download titles during designated window. Kinect and/or hard drive required for some games."

That makes sense since you're only supposed to need one XBL Gold account per Xbox One for multiplayer. On 360, you still need it per account, so they make enough money there that it's not an issue, and they need a way to compete with PS+ on PS3.

Competing with PS+ on PS4 is easy though, since Sony only offers two games a month, MS just has to match that (which they are).

Edit: Biggest news today is that Microsoft is selling Xbox Ones without Kinect.

Here's the thing: I don't even really LIKE Kinect games, or racing games, or even open-world standard RPG's and the like. The fact that I'm saying "Gee it'd be nice if we at least had one of those" kinda' speaks to just how narrow the option have been IMO.

Thanks for the clarification and that majorly sucks. I was hoping to continue to get free games which I could keep when I decided to get the One.

It's a bummer to see but I won't be getting rid of Gold ever so it's not a huge deal to me, I did kind of expect that to happen since the system isn't that old yet though.

In case you do have to "have" an xbox one to get the free games for it with gold I'm sure you could have a friend with the console put your profile on their xbone and "buy" the free games for you.
