  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I dont think I've had more fun gaming recently than I did when I first got the Ultimate Shout in Dead Rising 3. I just ran around like a kid in a candy store sending thousands of zombies to their graves.

oh and the Jazz Hands too. Doing gun-kata in crowds never gets old.

Cuz Third World problems. But who knows, at this pace i might upgrade by the end of 2015 at best and getting another console might happen 2 or 3 years later lol, as i said third world problems.

I used to always think that, but its usually no more than 4 to 5 mins of ads on a 45 to 50 minute show. You can always just use the phone to browse the internet or do whatever during ads.

Yeah, it's the same proportion of ads to content as you get when watching TV and even less in some cases. As a model to provide free streaming of TV shows the day after air (in most cases) I'm 100% OK with. That you still get the ads in the paid model is debatable but you're paying then for the access to the content on more devices than PC and a larger amount of content than just the most recent couple of episodes (depending on the show) and full previous seasons and shows that are off the air. Trade offs that I still think are fair for what you're getting and it would probably carry a higher price tag to drop the ads as well.

Unless MS gives me a free compatible TV along with the purchase price of the One nothing is going to make me buy one until my current non-hdmi TV dies, and hopefully that won't be for another five or six years.

 
Awesome, picked up both free games for X1 from my PC, don't own an X1 yet. I'm planning to go for it around Christmas finally, and there'll be plenty of games ready to be played by then. It's great I can do this from by browser rather than bothering a friend with account transferring and stuff. At this point I could even buy a couple X1 games, assuming their sale is amazingly good (though I don't expect 90% sales or the likes for a while, keep in mind how X360 barely had good [50%+] sales until like 2-3 years ago). I'm not even gonna lie, with all the freebies and great news about X1 and X360 alike, I'm really hyped for what they'll do on E3. They sure have my attention.

 
The past digital sale of Tomb Raider for $30 and FIFA 14 for $35 were fairly decent in my opinion, both great games. It's definitely a good start and I'd imagine especially during the holidays you'd see some sweet Xbox Live deals.

Sweet, after doing a few searches this morning I hit the $3 Xbox Gift Award for Bing. A lot better than the new 5 apps for 5hrs thing for $2 imo.

I already had Max, fun little game...great price now. Halo SA seems to be a lot more fun with a controller than it was on my phone, I just wish it had local co-op.

Yeah... Is living with some fat ancient TV really superior to having a modern TV and being able to run modern machines on it with the default cable? I guess we all have different financial situations though...

On a 30 minute show which is only 18-22 minutes of actual content, you get about 3-4 minutes of ads for the entire thing which is 4-6 minutes less than watching it on tv. Most half hour shows will put one of those ad chunks at the end and come back from ads to show you the credits so if you back out there, you're only sitting through 2-3 minutes of ads for a show.

On top of that, every now and then you'll get the option to watch one full length ad before the show and have no commercial breaks throughout. Its still an ad but it feels like a little treat.

Yeah I was watching Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic today and they had this option. I actually rather them go the ads before and after the show but not during the show. The ads are annoying but way less than if you had cable and Hulu Plus is way cheaper (since it doesn't matter what service you pay for there's still going to be ads that are marketed to you, that's the way the system works). Been using the service for some time. Love watching anime, American Dad, Agents of SHIELD and Arrow on it.
 
Amazon Coins is Amazon's version of app credit. So you can choose to buy games and apps through the Amazon App Store, or Amazon proper, with the coins instead of money. You can also buy coins in larger quantities for a discount. Over the last couple of weeks Amazon has gone crazy giving away coins. There were five apps they made free and each had 200 coins. 100 = $1. I'm sure you saw the topic, but if you bought GTA: San Andreas they gave you 2000 coins, so $20. Unfortunately a lot of the better games on Amazon's App Store are only for Kindle devices. You can use coins on in-app purchases though. I personally use coins on Zen Pinball HD tables.

The ads are annoying but way less than if you had cable and Hulu Plus is way cheaper (since it doesn't matter what service you pay for there's still going to be ads that are marketed to you, that's the way the system works). Been using the service for some time. Love watching anime, American Dad, Agents of SHIELD and Arrow on it.

Once I finish everything on Netflix that I want to watch (if that ever happens). I'll probably make the jump to Hulu. I hated the ads last time they had a free trial on Xbox, but as you said it is still better than cable.

EDIT: Finished Soul Suspect earlier today. Not a horrible game, but felt like something that should be $40 at launch (if not less). The first X1 game that I didn't record any clips.

Anyone know if the new update makes my VUDU movie library free for silver account? I'm curious because I can't seem to find anything about it online.

I had Netflix but then I watched everything and I was just watching crap. When I realized that I dropped it. This was before House of Cards, Orange is the new Black mind you.

Combat isn't coming along hard at all... I'm just playing it smart. The two bros with spears in the burg gave me a run for my money but I got back, drank a bit, and procedures to lay the smack down. I saved at that closest campfire and promptly turned it off for the day. So far I'm very pleased with Dark Souls.

I'm rolling as a Knight using that broken hilt in my offhand. It's made fighting quicker than with the shield or 2 handed option. That Dragon made me cringe though... I gotta fight it don't i?

I will say this to new players... DONT GO INTO THE CEMETERY WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE ASYLUM.

Smart, that's how it is meant to be played. It gets even more pleasant along with more effort and patience, or just keep playing it smart. You sort of have to fight it, but i don't want to spoil it for you or anyone, that and the cementery comment.

You will always die at some point, regardless of any mastery you might posses on rolling. O&S don't give a fuck about rolling mastery for instance.

 
I'm sure this has been asked and answered several times now so I do apologize, but...

If I don't have a One, can I "purchase" the GwG One games through the site, then gain access to them when I eventually get a One?

It is just like PS+ now right, as long as I'm Gold I can play the games, on the One.
