This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Nice to see you back BobbyTastic, with your disappearance at Halloween, people thought you must have been shanked by a crazy. Congratulations on the babymaking......adding gamers through reproduction is how we will win :)
Seriously, I love playing games with my kids and you will too.
Thanks! No, no shanking occurred. (Fighting making a joke here.) But there was a crazy or two involved, haha. I figure adding another gaming nerd to the world will be one of my more meaningful accomplishments. And again, thank you. Your words make me hopeful, I really do pray that's the case.

Glad you are back Bobby. I did get Zombie Driver HD + 2 DLC's and a skull helmet through Facebook. It was a brutal competition. If you wanted something it had to be during the first minute it was posted. Thanks to whoever posted that deal here btw (I discovered they were giving away codes in this thread)!

edit: YES!!! Strider is already in the marketplace (but can't be bought yet, of course): http://marketplace.xbox.com/es-ES/Product/STRIDER/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584113c7
Thanks. I'm glad someone aside me got to get some free stuff and could feel my pain as we fought against the million lurkers for codes. Took me like 5 days to get something. How long did it take you? Did you get the other DLC they didn't give away?

It sucks that Zombie Driver HD doesn't have multiplayer though. Would be perfect for that.

STRIDER'S OUT TODAY? I had no idea. Well, it's either going to be fantastic or flop terribly. I guess it's time to find out.

For those of you missing your Games tab, I am too. I went on to buy the rest of the decent sale items and I freaked the fuck out at first though thinking it was some sort of weird new ban (like my international "travels" finally caught up with me), but I was still online. Just use Bing (ironically, something learned from international "traveling").

After reading MajorNelson's post, I think I have something pertinent to say.

LOCOCYCLE FOR XBOX ONE IS PERMANENTLY PRICE-DROPPED, NOT ON SALE.

Do not buy thinking otherwise.

Edit: Oh Cleaner, you rascal, you beat me to it.

\Mirror's Edge - pretty sure I have it on disc for both 360 and PS3, and I just now realized it was in the Humble Origin Bundle that I bought (to be fair, though, I don't currently do any PC gaming). Very good from what I played, but can only handle it in short bursts to avoid motion sickness.
See, I just recently got back into PC gaming because of the bundles, and as much as I hate buying the same thing cross-platform, I think games in those kind of bundles should be an exception. I mean the basic-tier of the Origin bundle (which came with everything but BF3 and the Sims) was only $1. Can't go wrong there. As for buying ME3 DLC before owning the base game (same here), it's a good idea because ME DLC is so erratic with sales patterns. ME2 DLC is on my "Probably Never Going To Happen" Wishlist along with the Banjo-Kazooie games and NeoGeo Colosseum.

Damn you! You got my hopes up, lol. As much as I'd love for the game to be released today, I can't help but feel that it's just a promo page for the game's eventual release later this month. The wait is killing me. :(

Don't get too excited for Titanfall, it's still in alpha with only a month before release, that is NOT good. The beta drops in like 2 weeks or something. It's going to be rushed.
If I were to have played the Alpha, outside of allegedly containing just two maps, I would not have been able to tell it was an Alpha as it was one of the most polished games of its genre that I ever played... that's if I actually played the Alpha. Also, no telling how old that build was; purpose of releasing it (in addition to hype) was to test servers. Sounds like you're a pretty respected dude here who's opinion is valued and I'm just a lurker, but saw your post and just wanted to offer a different viewpoint.

I didn't read your post, but i'm sure I would have appreciated your comments (if I read it).

Blame E.Nich! Maybe it'll come tomorrow? I just hope it's actually good, because if they make a crappy Strider game, the series will be dead in the water forever.

I appreciate you giving your "hypothetical" opinion. I wouldn't say my opinion is valued, but thank you for taking the time to share your viewpoint even though you're usually a lurker.

As for my skepticism, considering the state of Battlefield 4 who also rushed their beta, it's understandable to worry about the quality of an EA multiplayer FPS, I think. Combine that with the fact that I'm 100% positive Microsoft was pushing hard on the devs to release the game ASAP to give people an exclusive worth getting an Xbox One for, and we have a possible quality problem.

I'm surprised to hear an alpha is so polished though, very unusual (unless they really are done with the game aside from server issues). You can't deny that dropping a beta this late in the game is a bit worrisome, but at the end of the day, we'll just have to wait and see. It's why I said not to get TOO excited as compared to avoiding the game altogether.

Aside from concerns of it being rushed (with a giant day one patch like Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Battlefield 4), the only other thing that I'm concerned about is the 6v6. I know they said that it was because of AI balancing issues, and I want to believe that's really the only reason, but i'm not sure. Can you comment on how 6v6 felt, hypothetically?

I've found myself rebuying way too many games that I still even have yet to play due to all these damn bundles. I got a new gaming laptop a year or two ago, and I think it's just like you said, it's hard to pass them all up when the basic tiers are $1. Of course, now my backlog is completely inflated as a result :p

Also, welcome back Bobby :)

No worries... I completely agree with your worries regarding Titanfall server wise after the Battlefield fiasco. But, to say that Microsoft has more than a rooting interest in the success of Titanfall would be an understatement, so I'm sure the companies are doing everything in their power to work together and make the launch of the game a success. Obviously, next weekend will be a tremendous test.

I would put to rest any worries about the game being rushed (at least from a gameplay standpoint, content is TBD). On a long list of adjectives I'd use to describe the game (if I had the chance to play it), "rushed" would not enter my mind.

I would say that all the previews you've read about the game, going back to last summer, are extremely accurate. So think of all the time that has passed since the gaming press first got their hands on the game to play it and how excited they were at that point in time... obviously Respawn has had a very solid build of the game for quite some time allowing them to polish things up and that's very evident.

I also wouldn't have any concerns over 6v6. Based upon my experiences with the game (which could involve reading articles or watching gameplay videos), it is like two different games. When the game starts, it is pretty much like most shooters you have played and maybe a bit like COD Ghosts in that the maps are big and there's not a lot of people on them so you can move around (which is interesting in its own regard with the jetpacks and parkour)... then give it about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes and all chaos breaks out for the rest of the game.

My concerns stem from wondering if it will have the teamwork element that made COD4 so much fun to play... yes, I know you can "Rambo" your way around and be extremely successful in those games, but you can also work as a team with friends and have a blast controlling the map. It will be interesting to see if it captures the "competitive" gaming crowd because I'm not even sure if it's out to do that. I'm almost hoping it doesn't become that competitive of a game but then am worried it will be like Killzone where I log in at night and there's 1500 people playing. But I don't think that will be an issue.

It appears to be a fine mix of Call of Duty (fast paced action, in-the-mix spawns), Battlefield (mechs instead of tanks/helicopters) and Brink (movement) [one of these things is not like the other; one of these things just doesn't belong].

One of my main Battlefield complaints, is that the vehicles spawn too fast after being destroyed which doesn't place a value on them like they have in Halo. This game has what appears to be a great system in place to address that issue.

I would expect Titanfall to be one hec of an "Xbox, record that" experience. Hopefully it turns out to be the type of game I'll be logging hours in throughout the summer. Black Ops 2 was really the only shooter that kept pulling me back to play on the regular past the first couple months since MW2.

Titanfall is going to sell a metric fuckton of copies and move at least a million XBones by itself. Anyone arguing otherwise is either playing devils advocate or a Sonytard that's upset their favorite generic shooter Killzone is about to get completely shat upon.

But it's coming out on 360 too. Why would people shell out $500 to play a prettier version?

I've found myself rebuying way too many games that I still even have yet to play due to all these damn bundles. I got a new gaming laptop a year or two ago, and I think it's just like you said, it's hard to pass them all up when the basic tiers are $1. Of course, now my backlog is completely inflated as a result :p

Also, welcome back Bobby :)
I just finally got my first new desktop since 2006, a few months ago, and I've been experiencing the same phenomena you have. It doesn't help that I'm kicking myself over missing a great bundle or two, as well (I missed out on the Humble Jumbo Bundle and the Humble WB Bundle and it sucks). My Steam library went from like 10 games to 90something in a heartbeat, never thought I'd have a PC backlog on top of my 360 and Wii backlogs.

And thank you!

Picked it up at the last minute as well. If anyone wants to play some coop on this hit me up.

gamertag: twisted poke
So did I. It's a great beat-em-up based on a good semi-niche fighting game series. I just wish the DLC had been on sale too.

I might hit you up if I can get this damn Sony HDTV to work (the cold apparently fucked with it).

There we go, an articulate, well-thought and researched opinion. I think you sold me more than any hype trailers ever could.

I have no doubt that Microsoft wants the game to be great, but I'm just wondering if they'd sacrifice quality for selling more Xbox Ones earlier. I'm glad it's polished, though lack of content is another thing that could be affected by lack of dev time. We'll have to see.

Good description of the gameplay, sounds really interesting. Never thought Brink would ever be used for a good comparison, haha. I hope it turns out the way you predict, I really do.

I doubt it'll turn out very competitive. Microsoft has Halo for that.

Whoa whoa whoa. Nobody ever said it wasn't going to sell. I mean, Battlefield 4 sold REALLY well despite being a load of hot garbage. We're just discussing whether or not it'll be any good. I don't think it's going to move a million Xbones, but it'll sell a decent number of them with a Titanfall Xbone bundle.

No need to bring console wars into this (even though I agree about Killzone), relax.

But it's coming out on 360 too. Why would people shell out $500 to play a prettier version?
It's most likely going to be significantly gimped in comparison (a lot more effort is being put into the original Xbone version). I'm not buying an Xbone quite yet, but I'm not sure I'm going to shell out the money for what will probably be a vastly inferior version. We'll see how good the 360 port turns out and if I need that itch scratched.

Bobby, that was the first time I've ninjaed someone here and it wasn't even intentional :p

For Titanfall I'm thinking the beta might be more of a demo like I've seen other shooters do. Basically the game is all ready to go but they're doing additional stress tests on the servers. At least that better be the case! That and Destiny are my 2 most wanted this year. Hopefully with Respawn's history they'll have a smooth launch. Let's be honest, MOH and BF4 have had troubled history for EA in recent years but COD thrived and that's a better history with the Respawn team.

i feel like the game will be different since the 360 won't have access to the same servers that the Xbox one has and it's being made by a different team.
Although I agree, I still think Microsoft really hurt themselves here. If Titanfall would have been just on Xbox One and PC, I could have seen it moving a ton of units, but if people are still hesitant at $500, they may just pick it up for their 360 and rebuy it later when the Xbox One price drops. Microsoft had a true next gen system seller and dropped the ball by releasing it on the 360. Also, if there are any problems with the launch, I can not even imagine the backlash that will be had.

From what you said they are helping themselves. Instead of only selling 1 game, they are getting people to buy it twice. More money

It's okay. You have a Rabbid as a display picture, I can't stay mad at you.

I'm hoping that's the case as well.

Is there going to be any preorder bonus for titanfall? If not should I get it as a digital download on the One?
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/titanfall-preorder-bonuses/1100-6417453/

The only pre-order bonuses are physical items and gift cards/store credit. I'd say get it as a digital download if you want.

I think what he's trying to say is it doesn't hurt Titanfall sales, but it hurts Xbone sales. Which it does, absolutely.

Walmart has some patch you get with preorder. gamestop has a poster. Newegg, best buy, and Microsoft store has $10 gift card. target has $5 with $1 preorder card.

all these are for the standard Xbox one version

When you're putting out a new IP that you want to be successful, you want to g et it in as much hands as possible. I'm sure Microsoft wanted it only on Xbox One, but EA and Respawn probably talked them down to take an "Xbox" exclusive or nothing at all. At that point I imagine Microsoft would rather take it on both platforms, dump all their money to make into making it look like an Xbox One exclusive but still have the 360 version to sell.

for those curious how Titanfall plays once you start learning the map & controls... watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMNkvOm57rg

as far as the bots go, they're worth only 1 point compared to a 4 point human kill. Also, killing the bots speeds up the time it takes for your titan to be ready.

The gaming press has expressed a ton of concern over the 360 version of Titanfall.  No one even knew which studio was doing the game up until a couple weeks ago and there still hasn't been any footage of it.

It will be interesting to see what happens if the 360 version is half-assed (Respawn says it isn't of course).  Will that put a bad taste in the mouths of peeps sitting on the fence with their 360s and steer them towards PS4?  Or would the buzz generated for the Xbox One version of the game be enough to overcome a mediocre 360 experience.

A poor 360 version would also make Titanfall's efforts to displace COD as the most played game even harder... that's already a challenge given that there's a new COD on the way this fall and no telling when the next Titanfall game will be ready since it's presumably just one studio working on the game as opposed to COD with Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer and Treyarch taking turns.

But like someone mentioned... too much $$$ left on the table for them not to produce a 360 version... they're already losing out on Playstation sales of the game so can't fault them on trying to make a buck.

I can understand them not wanting to show footage of the 360 version and have it water down the imagery the general public has for the Xbox One version, but if they don't let any press check it out prior to release, that's a serious red flag.

And you cats are tough on Killzone haha... I actually enjoy Shadowfall more than Battlefield 4 or Ghosts but that's not saying much!  It's definitely flawed, but I've had some fun with it.

My impression was that Bluepoint was known for well-received, high quality ports. Maybe the issue is that the 360 version looks too good, i.e., the Xbone version doesn't seem like enough of an improvement.

D.R.A.M.A.!!

Also a reminder to swallow this week's weak sales: on February the 12th World of tanks will be released, "free to play" if you are already paying for Gold.

Side-note: Are you still running the Club Nintendo rewards thread? Holy shit it's been disappointing lately. December and January have been terrible. Can't wait for the new set of digital downloads.
Indeed I am, though running it is perhaps too strong a term, I'm mostly just updating the OP (which of course no one actually reads :p). I haven't been buying a ton of Nintendo games lately so I've run dry on my points at the moment, but I guess there hasn't been a whole lot of anything worthwhile to spend them on anyway.

Soon as I buy a 3DS I'm certainly done for though, the library of games I'm wanting to play on it is more and more trying to push me into getting one, not to mention the two Layton titles :whee:

Good to hear. I liked that thread. I'm sure the maintenance is easy because Club Nintendo never really adds anything. Sucks you missed out on the game cases and posters though.

You mean THREE* Layton titles, don't forget about Professor Layton x Ace Attorney on the way. :) Figured you'd be excited, since the display picture and all.

Do you know what kind of 3DS you're going to get? Are you just holding out for a sale?

On another note, WOLF AMONG US EPISODE TWO IS TOMORROW. GET HYPE.

Seriously the only thing to look forward to this week on the marketplace. And I guess World of Tanks the Wednesday after. I expect plenty of Wolf Among Us discussion here because of the free episode 1 + very early discount on the Season Pass (I know I did).

Edited to correct myself because I can't count.

I don't think a single other platform has seen a sale on it besides the 360.
I'm pretty sure The Last Specter (which was on the original DS) was the first game of the new trilogy, so Azran Legacy should be the third and final (for now) game in the series. But Layton X Ace Attorney, why do I always forget about that game

I'm mostly waiting for a sale yeah; I bought a Vita on BF so I don't really want to buy another handheld so soon, but those Layton titles are calling to me...I'd be happy with pretty much any XL model, but if they ever come out with a Layton themed 3DS (perhaps for PLxAA), lord help me.

And yes, I'm freaking psyched for WAU EP2! The other platforms have definitely gotten sales though, I believe the season pass was $13 on Steam during the holiday sale, and the same on PSN a few weeks back.

It was also briefly given away free on facebook, which I might *ahem* gotten in on ;)

So other people like The Maw then? I thought it was far to easy and kind of boring.
Yeah, the Maw was really easy, it was OK but definitely my least favorite Twisted Pixel game (though I haven't played LocoCycle, obviously).

Is anyone picking up Fable Anniversary? I decided to buy it since I never got to play the Lost Chapters content and remember loving the original the most. Also, did anyone see that video of the intro to the game recreated using Project Spark? It was cool and brought back memories of those early quests. I can't wait for the beta to expand to consoles so I can use my code. I'm still using Vista so my PC isn't good enough.
I want to get it, Fable 2 and 3 are still in my Xbox backlog (which is thankfully getting smaller) but I want to play the original first. I was hoping Redbox would have it and I'd just force my way through it over this coming weekend, but right now I don't see Redbox having a listing for it.

Every time I see you post in this thread, I think about calling my ex-girlfriend to see if she'll take me back. :)

I remember being so excited about the original and enjoying it so I was hyped over 2. Then they messed up the coop experience and screwed over people who bought the LE by giving the codes away for free to anyone and that killed the game for me. Major nerd rage. Playing 2 again years later and a little of 3 now that I'm not angry made me remember how much I liked the series. Heck I even enjoy Fable Heroes and own but haven't touched The Journey. Let's say Anniversary is a great place to jump in. I'm ready to return to Albion.

I wish RedBox would stock next gen games. I wouldn't mind renting Ryse for a few days since it's so short.

I just noticed that on the GWG page Dead Island has a T rating... my physical copy has an M. Was the rating changed, is the free copy censored, or was it a mistake by Microsoft?

I'm almost 100% sure the season pass was $10 during the countdown sale because I remember buying it.

EDIT: Yep, I paid $10 + tax during the sale on Christmas Day

I thought Bobby was implying it hadn't seen ANY sale on other platforms, which was what my comment was referring to not the price; that was a killer deal for $10 (which I would have likely jumped on if I didn't already have it on PC).

OK... I'm gonna sound stupid here, but here goes...

I finished the Borderlands 2 story last night. Then you just have quests remaining... So there is no way to just start the story over again like in Diablo III? Do you just continue to do quests and kill the big bosses over to get loot? I'm just kind of at a loss as to what's next...

If you go to the title/login screen, I think you hit Y to select your character. Select the same character you finished the game with, only now you have the option to play True Vault Hunter mode, and do everything again at a more difficult level. You can switch back and forth between normal and tvhm at will, and all your gear and levels etc will be present in both.

When you load your character, there should be an option for True Vault Hunter mode. This is a new game plus. Note that none of your side quests (or main quests) will carry over between modes, so if you are wanting the achievements/trophies for certain related things, you may want to clean up the remaining side quests. You can always switch back to regular mode and do them later, though. You won't lose any progress and you'll level up faster in True Vault Hunter mode.

Now you've got me itching to load this up tonight...

I don't think they'll do a Layton-themed 3DS unfortunately (maybe you can get a custom shell?), but I understand you wanting to hold off since you just got a Vita. I had a used launch 3DS and I have a Pikachu XL now, and I have to say, I like the XL better overall, so yeah, go with that. There's some concessions, unfortunately (internal speakers are noticeably weaker, 3ds game resolution isn't changeable, cheaper feel, etc.) but ultimately I felt it was the better model. It doesn't hurt that it cost me $50 to upgrade to a Limited Edition XL either (from when TRU had them on sale for $160).

I didn't know it was on sale on Steam. Surprised I missed it. They gave it out on Facebook? Which version? Steam?

And here I thought Microsoft actually tried getting us a special discount. :( Oh well.

Welcome back Bobby. I was wondering why this thread exploded since yesterday considering how poor the deals are this week.
Lots of ex-girlfriend issues today, I see. ;)
Thanks Tyler. It's good to be back. My humility refuses to let me take credit for the thread "exploding", I think it's more likely that people are here for discussion while checking for the new deals, before finding out they're garbage.

Since you're here, I feel as if I should specifically apologize to you, the one who bestowed the responsibility to me in the first place. So again, I'm sorry for what happened. I hope you understand.

And yes, ex-girlfriend problems are pretty popular today, but I'm pretty sure it's a universal constant, haha.

I remember being so excited about the original and enjoying it so I was hyped over 2. I got the Platinum Hits version of Fable 2 (my first Fable game, actually), and loved it. Now I own the original + Lost Chapters, Pub Games, Fable Heroes, 3, and yes, even the Journey (it was $10, I couldn't say no). I even hunted down a used Collector's Edition (missing the slipcover though) and then bought an LE code off of here (I heard about the DLC fiasco, I can't believe they forgot to ship the games with codes). Cost me like $35 overall, but it was worth it. I did not love Fable 3 enough to pay $70 for an LE though, yikes.

I'm hoping the Anniversary Edition will get more people into the series. And that MAYBE, they won't screw up Legends. Maybe.

This. I thought some new deals came out. The Fable sale is supposed to happen no? Anyways, welcome back Bobby.
Thanks!

Also I find it funny that you're still better off buying the GOTY edition since they didn't put the DLC on sale.
Don't forget the GOTY edition comes with The Ripper mod that came with all "Special Editions" from GameStop. It's not available for purchase on the Xbox Marketplace either. But yeah, they missed a golden opportunity for another sale on the DLC. Not quite sure what Deep Silver is thinking.

I thought Bobby was implying it hadn't seen ANY sale on other platforms, which was what my comment was referring to not the price; that was a killer deal for $10 (which I would have likely jumped on if I didn't already have it on PC).
Your line of thought was correct. He just misunderstood, I'm guessing.
