This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

... I already owned 18/21 GwG. I think I have a problem..

Now if we're excluding physical copies, I already owned 12/21, which is slightly better, but still kinda bad.

And lastly, if we exclude stuff owned through a friend in another country, we're at 11/21 (Sleeping Dogs for $5 was a good deal at the time).

The worst part is I didn't own 4/8 of the replacement games (Shadowrun, Nuts and Bolts, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Tooie). But at least I just bought Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet? :wall:

Edit: That list forgot to include Fable 3, so it's 21. Edited my post to reflect this.

Acording to rumors on some Spanish forums May GwG will be:

1st-15th: Dust: AET / The Dishwasher.

16th-31st: Saints Row: The Third.

So i hope is The Dishwasher and not Dust as previous CAGers have found, since i recently bought it on that Ultimate Games Sale. On SR: The Third, I would have liked something else but free is free.

If anyone is interested in seeing what's been released for GwG so far since the program started, along with any regional variances, there's a good wiki page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Games_with_Gold_games

So far I've gotten 6 free games out of the 20 offered (I owned the other 14). I'm actually surprised that I made out with so many considering my massive collection and backlog.
I got:

AC II (already own physical Copy and 1000ed it)

Crackdown

Dead Rising 2

Lost Planet 2

Shadowrun

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas

Halo 3 (already own physical copy)

Iron Brigade

Halo Wars

Shoot Many Robots

Sleeping Dogs

Metro 2033

Toy Soldiers: Cold War

Sid Meier's Revolution

Hitman Absolution

That's 15 Games (mainly because we got other Games here) excluding 2 Games I already had as a physical copy...so 13 Games

Acording to rumors on some Spanish forums May GwG will be:

1st-15th: Dust: AET / The Dishwasher.

16th-31st: Saints Row: The Third.

The original Dishwasher? The one that hasn't gone on sale in centuries? I really hope so, I only have the sequel because that's the only one they ever put on sale anymore.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me to get both because the devs behind Dust and The Dishwasher are known to be friends.

And SR: 3rd would actually be a game I don't own at all (for Xbox, I have it on PC from a Humble) either, was just gonna buy the Full Package physically. May is looking up!

Edit: The second/last time the original Dishwasher was on sale was early January 2011, about a week or two after I first got my 360. :p

If this is true and we get all 3, that would be very rad.

Apararently The Dishwasher will be GwG for Argentina, so i'm not sure if we'll be getting it as well. Hopefully we do.

I really hope they are correct and we'll get SR the 3rd, I've been wanting to play that game for some time now but didn't want to buy it xDDDD

The Dishwasher would be the better choice for NA considering Dust: AET was recently on sale. I'd venture to think we'd the more violent of the two, considering past GwG were swapped out in other regions for that very reason.

A game with large purple dildos seems inappropriate for a GwG title.  I personally don't have an issue with it so don't flame me.  I'm just thinking about family/children-friendly advocacy groups that might pounce on this if MS did make SR3 free...

They don't have a ton of non M rated games to pick from.

Yeah, Dead Island is more children friendly, you only dismember zombies after all LOL

I already own both Dust and Saints Row 3, so I kinda hope they won't be the GwG's. But if I take off the selfish coat, they're two brilliant games, and I'd be very happy to play them had I not done so yet. If SR3 is indeed a thing, I hope they'll put some great sales on the DLCs as well, excluding its sequel, it's probably some of the whackiest stuff you've ever played, and the main game was already bonkers (the final hours especially).

Almost forgot, a Game Of The Century edition for Saints Row IV with all DLCs is coming out in May. It would make sense making people play SR3 in hopes they'll rush out buying the sequel.

The guys who are saying Dust have been right the last five months right? So I'm still expecting one of the Dust games.

Predictions for second game are all over the place: Saints Row 3, The Orange Box, GTA IV, Tomb Raider and a dreaded month of two XBLA games, the other being Skulls of the Shogun.

I hope its not Saints 3. If you wanna log into your Saints Row/old THQ account, you have to email them, and they have to reset your password. I'm guessing there will be a long wait time now.

I have SR3 and The Dishwasher...ugh

I got stuck on The Dishwasher years ago and can't progress any further lol, I am terrible at that game I guess

Saints 3 would be sweet just to have it on the HDD for anytime access. One of my favorite games this gen.

Don't own Dust or Dishwasher so either of those is a win for me.

Burgertime World Tour is gone. I thought I would at least have until 3 am but nope.
I was still on the fence even though others have said not to get it. I guess they made up my mind for me. No real lose.

As far as GwG (21 including Fable III)

Digital (strictly)--> I scored 19 of 21 (had Lara Croft from a few years back and Deadlight from this past holiday)

Physical --> I scored 9 of 21 if I include the physical copies I own (interestingly enough, I probably would not have bought the 9 games I didn't have)

Tremors is free to watch on Xbox Video...time to make my girlfriend watch some vintage Kevin Bacon
I saw that on the dash last night. My wife laughed and said, "who the hell wants to watch that crappy movie?!" I replied ME

People seem to be forgetting that Dead Rising Case Zero was also included as being free with Dead Rising 2 back in August. So technically we have gotten 22 free games so far

Sweet. I have the "Quadrilogy" on DVD (yes there were four movies, and I only liked the first two), but in for a digital copy. Good on you two for trying to get more fans of the female persuasion for the series.

Also, was it just Case Zero or was Case West also included?

LOL... I owned 1/20 GWG games... Civ Rev - only because I had bought it during the previous sale a couple of weeks before it was free. This has been pretty nice for me.

It was Case Zero that was free. If my memory is correct, I think Case West was on sale that week. Like, cross promotion MS has done before. If not, I KNOW it's gone on sale since then.

I also have the DVD quadrilogy. I think I stopped watching when they introduced tremors who had wings and could fly. I thoroughly enjoyed Tremors 4 though. The prequel set in the Wild West was so great. It's right up there with Super Mario Brothers The Movie

The only bad thing about Saints Row The Third is that it runs like crap on console, though SRIV is even worse. It's been free on PS+, so there's no reason it couldn't be free again for GWG.

You're right, I looked it up myself.

Also, the one with the flying ones is Tremors 3.

From the GwG I only had 6 games previously so far. That's nice. Downside is, of the games I didn't have, I'm only glad to have been  able to get for free like 3 or 4 games, I don't ever plan on playing the rest (that was the reason I didn't have them in the first place).

edit: 7 games so far, counting Dust now. Very glad that I can get Saints Row 3 for free :D

LOL... I owned 1/20 GWG games... Civ Rev - only because I had bought it during the previous sale a couple of weeks before it was free. This has been pretty nice for me.
Dust, Halo and Assassin's Creed II were the only ones I had.

Saint's Row 3 seems pretty cool, always wanted to try it out.

I've already got Dust and I don't regret paying for it, I got it dirt cheap late last year when most of you probably did.

I can finally compare gta and SR now and I'm excited about that.

Meh Dust (and no Dishwasher :wall: ), yay Saints.

Saints Row 3 was Cheapy's GOTY lol.

Dust is awesome.

Both great choices.
It's only his GotY because he's in the DLC. :p

In America, killing and gore is ok. Baring of skin or related activities - not so much. Go figure.
Yeah, but it's the opposite in Europe. That's how our crazy world works. :bouncy:

Both are great choices, agreed. Dust becomes more amazing when you realize it's made by one dude. Don't mind paying $5 or $7.50 for it a while ago and playing once for an hour.

Now, to decide if I want to trade in my physical copy of Saint's Row 3 which has been in my backlog for years.......

Wow.  I give up on GWG.  Out of everything I've played 2 new games.  Fable III and that Dungeon Defenders with the kids.  There's really no reason for someone like me to renew my gold next go around.  The best sales are free to everyone, the GWG have been either games I own or am uninterested in (50/50), and I rarely play online anymore.

Barring some new E3 news I guess I'll just let my gold lapse in September...

On the bright side, E3 is only about a month and a half away (June 10th - 12th), so either June or July should get some really good games for the good PR at Microsoft's presentation. I am praying one of them is a Banjo or Viva Pinata game.

It's just luck of the draw I guess. I've been able to get 12 months of Live for $35 multiple times, and I figure at $1.49 per game it would be worth the risk when you also factor in trading in/selling the games. Granted the X1 is my main system so I'll always be paying for live. GWG is a sweet bonus. I'm hoping GWG lasts till they stop production of the 360.

Already played SR3 on ps3 and 360, but it is a great game.  Got the plat on ps3, but still have some work to do to 100% on 360.  This will give me a chance to finish that up, I guess, since I got rid of the game a couple years ago.  No idea about Dust.  Is it a side scrolling platformed like seemingly every other arcade game?

Always wanted to play both but didn't want to pay cash for them xD

I'm definitely happy with this months picks. My backlog thought it was safe, too. Nope. fuck you, pal. More wood for the fire

Yes! Saints Row 3 was one of the games on my GwG wishlist. I'm hoping the DLC gets at least a 66% discount as well since the SR4 DLC got that discount about two weeks ago.

Already own both games, so meh, but I don't mind having paid for them. Try them out, they're both really good.

A couple tips, advices and facts from someone who bought the base game back at launch along with the season pass, and completed game and DLCs 100% (both game-wise and achievement-wise). The game is not extremely long (it's an open world game so you'll likely be messing around, but we're talking less than 40 hours if we don't count that), plus 6 more hours or so for the DLCs. The DLCs, as hilarious and awesome as they were, were hardly worth the full price (talking about the campaign ones, the small weapon & skin ones don't really matter), since they really are like 1.5-2 hours each for 100% completion. If they'll be on sale for at least 50% they are recommended though, also for the cheevos.

The game is not really difficult. At first you'll have massive troubles getting gangs out of the way, since you're quite weak with limited weaponry against giant armies. Same goes for some of the collectibles and stuff: if you approach these things early on, you will have issues because your character is far from powered up and not having the best weapons and vehicles yet. In fact, as you progress, you can upgrade your character (plus unlock all kinds of OP weaponry). I advice AGAINST upgrading your character fully when it comes to health and ammo especially. Why? Because the final upgrades literally make you immortal and with unlimited bullets. That is fun, as it'll be like playing a wacky GTA with cheats, but if you want to have some kind of challenge in an already fairly easy game, my personal advice is to wait out with the best upgrades 'till after you're done with the missions, and you're merely planning to screw around from now on.

Achievements. No missable achievements except for one that requires you to play a certain mission twice (but needs a new game to work, so either you backup your save or you start a new save where it'll take you 1 hour or so to get to that part again), everything else is fairly easy to pull off. A couple are time-consuming but I managed to do every single achievement and 100% completion without ever accessing a guide - and this still in the 40 hours or so needed for the base game. Just play at your own pace and liking, enjoy the messing around, and don't worry, you'll have time (and better equipment) to get all the achievements down the line if you don't unlock them while you play.

What else to say? If you never played SR3 and SR4, you did not play anything like this. Not even SR2 comes close to it. This is GTA on all kinds of drugs. The storyline is downright bonkers, some of the things you have to do are beyond anything you've done in videogames (not even gonna spoil anything, I'll let you find all the surprises, as there are plenty in both the base game and the DLCs). The soundtrack is great and very varied: you've got fairly standard pop, electronica and rap, all the way to pretty badass metal stuff like Between The Buried And Me - you'll likely find stuff to your liking. There's an impressive character customization, tons of insane weapons and vehicles, and many things to do. The only downside is the lack of proper multiplayer, but if you've got a buddy, the coop is great fun - just don't expect the kind of grand scale multiplayer you see in GTA V for example.

And if you find yourself on the fence about DLCs: the 3 campaign DLCs give you achievements, in some case new areas, wacky new things to do and more. If on sale, as said, they're worth it. If you're a completionist, all the extra weapons, skins, vehicles, etc. are worth considering, do keep in mind however that if you happen to like the game very much, you have good chances of finding the Game Of The Year edition cheaper than you could buy all the DLCs for, even if they happen to go on sale. Keep that in mind, before a DLC shopping spree. Lastly, if you enjoy(ed) the game, right in May comes out the Game Of The Century edition for Saints Row IV - it is more of the same, almost identical gameplay, except even more bonkers. The 30 bucks it starts off for the base game and all DLCs is definitely a solid price of admission if you can't get enough of Saints Row 3, because the 4th one indeed feels like a giant DLC, because graphics, gameplay, menus, etc. make it seem like it's SR3 all over again.

I hope this helps anyone, I'll probably post this again when the game becomes free, maybe other things will pop to my mind until then.

Well, I wanted Dishwasher so bad since i already own Dust. Haven't event touched Dust, bit for less than 3 bucks im ok. SR3, well... don't know if they relate but i haven't even played Sleeping Dogs so this one goes to the basement of the backlog. Speaking of backlog i 1000'ed Dark Souls 2 and was planning to dig through the pile, but damn this game is so good. Anyways i'm starting to think that my grandchildren are gonna hate with the backlog leftovers i'll be leaving for them.

In America:

Gore & Killing = No problem

Slightest Nudity = Won't someone think of the children!?!?!?!?
Same with language. A bunch of parents were upset at Goat Simulator because it had a few "bad" words within the game. They didn't seem to mind the being rewarded for murder, destruction of property, or sacrifices to Satan.

I'm looking forward to some co-op in SR3. Dust was a bit disappointing for me. I never finished it because of that voice acting. Mother of pur please no more
