This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Let's keep pretending the guy with a Storm avatar doesn't read comics and doesn't know who Apocalypse is.
How do you know he knows who Storm is? Maybe he just randomly found it and thought to himself, "I love that punk rocker look! I will make it my avatar."

Side note: everytime I see your gif on the left, it looks like she's trying to be like a frog eating insects.

Holy crap, I did. Thanks! I never would have figured that out on my own.

* Wow. Ok. So I just read how to transfer licenses. I really have to redownload EVERYTHING? Totally not worth it. I just got a newer console, the hard drive is the same. Does that matter?
You have to "redownload" it, but when the console sees that the game is already in the HDD it will turn as download completed automatically, and now it will have a license attached to it.

So you won't have to download any game complete again unless the devs uploaded a new patched version of the game and you own the previous one.

Hope my explanation is understandable xD

Yes, that is awesome. Thanks! Looks like I'll be transferring after all.

I've been able to get Punch Cards for Xbox Live Rewards from using the Gamespot, Twitch and Machinima Apps. I know it says all apps apply, but just to let people know which have worked.

his power is pyramid moving? crazy how do you stop someone like that
The X-Men give him a handheld system with Tetris. He is forever distracted by stacking moving objects and craves batteries.

Bryan Singer took the handheld system from one of the young boys he knows.

Yesterday night I watched Castlevania LoS 2 how it always was meant to be, on youtube and with pop corns (don't be offended you who like to play mercury steam games). And while watching the "movie" I missed A LOT the fantastic Symphony of the Night soundtrack. Besides the gameplay, my main complain with the LoS games is the soundtrack (or the lack of it).

I got punch cards for the A&E originals and the ADHD apps too. Need just one more and I got my 2,000 points

In regards to my top five gaming music tunes, I would have to stop and think about that one. Going back to all my games I've played the past 25+ years.....THAT is tougher than asking me to name my top 5 games

What difficulty are you playing it on? The game is less difficult than the demo thanks to the automatic checkpoints. Shooting with the scope seems to give me an auto detect which makes the game easier for me. The story is moving slow otherwise I'm liking the game so far.

And thanks for those who replied to my GTA IV post. I have the PS3 disc version and haven't played it yet. These games are just too hard for me.
I'm playing on Hard to get the achievement. The AI is sorta similar to Far Cry 2's where once someone sniffs you out, the rest can see you from miles away (possible hyperbole). Either I suck or I'm dying too fast haha

Lol but to be fair it's a lot easier to do now, through the site compared than everything on the console UI, *shutters just thinking about it.

I am not trying to ridicule you. I'm just trying to figure out where you're coming from. However, rather than wasting time and keyboard clicks arguing back and forth, I will explain how business works in general. You're obviously a young guy so you may or may not know this.

In the world of business you almost always want to target the lowest common denominator. You want as many people as possible to be to buy whatever you're selling, since more buyers means more money when you are selling a uniform product. That's why when a publisher puts out a game they produce only a small number of "collectors" editions. These special editions sell for a much higher price, but that's not where the publisher gets their main cashflow. Makes sense right? If they produce nothing but collector's editions with figurines and soundtracks, they will probably go out of business since they will be catering to a far smaller segment of the population.

It's sorta the same way here. While Grim Fandango may not be at the very top of most people's list. It is likely in the top 10 or 20 or whatever. Will you only buy your #1 choice game and nothing else? Of course not. You will most likely be interested in any game in this so called top 20 list. Number 1 choices tend to be highly subjective and dependent on the person's own taste and experiences. My personal #1 choice would be a remake of Shining Force II. It's a fantastic game. But should I expect it to be on everyone's top 20 list? Ofcourse not. That's why it's much less likely that it will be remade. Grim Fandango is not even in my top 5. But you know what? It is in my top 20, and it probably is in a lot of people's top 20 so that's why they picked it. It will sell a whole lot more copies that Shining Force II.

I hope that sorta makes sense.
It makes sense, but that's overanalyzing my posts. I don't know how to put it any simpler, one game is not unanimously on top of everyones list. That's all I'm saying. Many people proved my point in this thread by posting what their true desired remakes are and none of them said the same game. So that's pretty much it I'm not going to say anymore.

I approve.
Your thumbs up GIF is perfect for what you said. xD

Way to avoid what I said. You keep changing your argument.

There's plenty of impressions. It's been out on PC for a while.

65/100 on Metacritic.
I wouldn't go by that necessarily since apparently it had a lot of issues when it was released and the devastating have actually worked on and fixed the game since then. Total Biscuit did a review recently and approved of it. Sold me on picking it up for $1 on Steam while it was on sale though I've yet to find time to try it.

Regardless it's pretty impressive that they got front page on the dash and store.

Is this on the 360? Indies? I didn't see this earlier?

I know it's been on amazon and steam for $1 a few times. Seemed decent from what I've seen of videos.
Just came out on 360 in the last week I believe. It's been advertised on my dash when I log in and when I go to shop for games.

So I'd like to hear more about both of these things. Is this a joke about using pass-through, or are you people wizards?
I would assume Eldrich is using pass through. I had a twitch stream going. :p

What's everyone's top 5 video game levels/set pieces?
Multiplayer-wise my top 5 would include Facility from Goldeneye, City Street Large from the Rainbow Six games, Blood Gultch from the Halos, Office from CSS, and Containment from Halo 2.

Went ahead and nabbed RE Revelations. I decided to go ahead and start it and probably about a quarter of the way through it's fun. I would just really like to know why the RE series suffers from such dreadfully poor ally AI. Enemy AI seems better than ally AI. At least it's not as bad as the ally AI in RE ORC was. That was the epitome of bad AI "Oh look a mine I'll run right into it" "Oh look I'm standing in fire, I think I'll stay here for a while" "Oh look the player is laying down a stream of fire on that hunter, I think I'll run right in front of him and stop."

Final Fantasy XII needs to be HD and they should HD Robotech: Battlecry.. truly a beautiful game to begin with. The celshading was spot on when it came out.

I'm not sure that the Kingdom Hearts collections are going to bring any clarity to the overall storyline.

As far as remakes are concerned, I'd love to see these games get a new life on the new consoles:

Seaman - Now that mics are included in everything, this could have a resurgence amongst the crazy indies we get.

Gunpey - Great PSP music puzzle game originally created by the Game Boy creator that took cues from Lumines. Plus, it had a skin centered around a dog crapping out stars and other weird things.

Geometry Wars Galaxies - A good DS/Wii spin-off of the original GW that added unique levels, drones, and the gem/multiplier mechanic that was used in GW2

Retro Game Challenge - Faux-retro collection of NES clones based on Game Center CX.

Boktai for Vita/3DS - Since both of the new handhelds have cameras, there's no need for specialty hardware to sense light, so they could just do a digital-only remake.

Since Capcom did such a great job on the first game, I would love to see them redo Resident Evil 2. Or at least release the Gamecube "REmake" for Xbox and Playstation users to enjoy.

With the graphic capabilities we are seeing, I think it would be pretty sweet if "Monster Party"  for the NES was remade. Hit monsters with a bat, turn into Bert the Demon, and battle giant snakes, mummys, and dinner appetizers. In 1080p  :D/

Don't forget RE0 I'm lucky that my gamecube still works so I can still enjoy 0 and the 1 remake. Wouldn't mind remakes of 2 and 3 at all. Although I wish they'd update the controls if they do.

I'm not sure that the Kingdom Hearts collections are going to bring any clarity to the overall storyline.
I'm not looking for clarity on the story, I'm looking for the story. I haven't owned a Kingdom Hearts-bearing console since about 2006, so all I've done is beaten the first, the GBA iteration of Chain of Memories, and part of the second. Since they're introducing the franchise to a console that hasn't had a single game in said franchise, it would make sense to get those players in on the actual story, similar to how Microsoft is getting Halo onto the One, so the younger players can get the story of Chief.

Thinking about picking up Horizon for $10. What exactly is the issue with the the digital copies? I bought a retail copy for $15 way back but flipped it a long time ago. Will I not be able to use my save file?

First time in this thread, so pardon me if I missed the debate, but I have enough store credit to pick up an Xbone now. Will I really be missing out on much if I get the $400 bundle without the Kinect or should I just put another $100 on a card and get the Kinect?

Do you like the concept of voice control to get around menus, or potential hand and controller gestures to be used in games? If no, then you should be okay skipping on the Kinect. If you like motion and voice control, or are interested in it, then it might be worth getting. It's just an expensive 'might be.'

Another way to look at it; that $100 could be better used to buy games or accessories, so make sure you have an interest in it. Research the games you would buy and see if they have any benefits from Kinect that might interest you. If not, then it should make it easier to skip it.

It's highly dependent on your usage of the system. The Kinect can be nice for navigation, especially for media purposes. If you JUST want to play games, it's not that useful, unless you really want to say, "Xbox, record that." I don't even turn my Xbox on with my voice much because it doesn't work half the time.
