This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

They finally updated XBL rewards with my July points. I'm 100 points from 5,000. Bastards just had to take the survey away and not give me points for adding a 3 month last month. I requested a deposit, but it would have been nice to have those points.

fuck, I regret not buying the Ryse season pass when it was $10. SMH, hopefully they put it on sale again soon.
I seem to recall buying it when it was on sale. The sad part is that I haven't even opened the game yet! (got it for ~$23 new at BB a couple months ago when they had the weird thing going on with the website)

After a couple meh weeks of sales, I'm thinking hard about the Banjo Bundle since this or tomorrow might be the last day. I loved me some scavanger platformers, really liked the first 1/2 of Kazooie on N64 before i lost my save and never played Tooie. How do the controls hold up? Camera? Is it still fun?

I started it not too long ago, and it is fun.... the camera however, hasn't aged well.

That sucks. Which mics will work with it? I have a RB1 mic and 2 wireless Xbox mics.
I'm pretty sure that any microphone from an actual music game will work. I was trying to use a headset, which worked with the earlier games. Google says that headsets won't work now, though. All I get is "connect a mic".

Regretting the purchase now..

How is it controlled on the Xbox controller? If it's with the right stick, I could see that being annoying. The lack of C buttons does pose a problem.

Wish you lived near me. I have 2-3 of those mics I have no use for, as well as 2 guitars.

Yes, it is with the right stick. What i found annoying was the fact that the camera isn't as free as the last games i have played, perhaps that is why i feel it kind of unconfortable.

See, I have a family who hates board games. At least, they hate the best ones. I love the long games like Risk and Monopoly, but everyone else hates them.
That's because those games suck. Get some good board games (i.e. not Hasbro) like Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, Flash Point, King of Tokyo, et al. Most of the "classic" American board games are awful.

EDIT: Also if you want something a bit Risk-like, Small World is pretty fun.

Microsoft just released a browser version of Catan. The rest, I don't know, and I'm not using a stranger whose tastes I don't know to judge what I'd like.

Yeah, since they had it controlled with the C buttons on the 64, it wasn't able to pan like a stick does on modern games, and a stick feels incredibly awkward controlling that kind of camera, I imagine. That sucks, really. I wonder if putting those games on the PC would do better, where you could WASD move and use the arrow keys like C buttons for the camera.

For those who have local access to Fry's: Lost Planet 3 is listed in their weekly ad for $9.99, a few bucks cheaper than the digital sale. Shipping pretty much kills it at $2.99 though.

Definitely worth it at that price. It had a nice little Dead Space and Mass Effect feel to it. Best one out of the 3.

95% of the stores don't know that is isn't listen anymore, and the signs in store probably still include frys.com

The computers still list them as an option under which store they are PMing.
I'm just stating what is in their policy. If you wanna try, go ahead, but don't get angry at them if they deny you.

You don't have to trust me, read some reviews. Ticket to Ride has a 5-star rating with nearly 1500 reviews on Amazon. Of course, game taste is subjective so you may not like it, but it gives you an idea of the collective Internet opinion at least. The ratings at Board Game Geek are also informative. For example, Monopoly is rated around 4.5/10 whereas all the games I listed are in the 7.5/10 range (the highest rating on the site with any significant number of voters is 7.8). For even more info see defective yeti's Good Gift Games guides.

But we are getting off topic so I will step down from my German game advocacy soapbox now. :)

It would drag the competitor users. If a ps3 owner knows a xbone can also launch 360 games (those games he refused when buying a ps3) that would win him over. Same thing with changed names, perhaps even more clear: if a ps4 could run ps3 games i'd fckn jump into it without second thought. Add to the mix the PS+ gimme free games program (or the watered-down GwG) as topping: four or more free games a month for your only console.

As others pointed out: the gen gap this time is way more smaller than xbox-360 or ps2-ps3 so a 360/ps3 library doesnt feel dated at all compared to new released games. And the ps4/xbone library isn't precisaly very large so far. Concluding: BC is a winner.
I agree with this. I would buy a ps4 in a heart beat if it played ps3 games. I want to play them but I don't really want to spend the money on an old console feel weird about it Idk.

With PS Now, you can play PS3 games on PS4. Prices are a bit ridiculous, but if there are only a few exclusive games you'd want to play, it could still be cheaper than buying a PS3.

Redbox is having free game rentals 10th-16th. They have some great games if you can find them available.

So MS just sent me the July summary email.

Included was this stat:

:/
What game? That's a damn lot...

I use to have Raptr track everything, but last I knew it wasn't working with the X1 so I gave up. I think I had over 300+ hours in Gears 3 and Halo 3.

It didn't bother telling me that.

Yeah mine was 2546 which is over 3 times the actually number of hours in July.
Yeah, the total it gave me is 56.xx days. Apparently I have a time turner and forgot!

You guys ever finish a game...look at your backlog and try to decide on which one you want to play next....then after an hour say "fuck it" and end up not wanting to play anything at all?

That's me every night the fiance goes to work. I look at the games, and then a yawn creeps up and I say fuck it, I'm not going to start anything new tonight. Then I move over the the Blu Ray shelf and the same thing happens. I end up going to Netflix and browse for a bit and usually put in a staple of mine, like American Dad, Code Monkeys, Bob's Burgers and usually fall asleep before I even finish one episode. I literally spend more time trying to decide what to do than actually doing it.

Lmao damn guys, that's exactly what happened to me. I was looking at my 360 backlog. "Hmmm...Injustice, Dead Island, Ninja Gaiden RE, Dead Rising 2 Off The Record...nope." Then I looked at my Blu Ray collection for half an hour. I settled on AlienS for the 5,000th time but was too lazy to out the disc in. Finally decided to post on CAG about my propensity to spend lots of money on entertainment only to seldom use those items to actually entertain.

Are you me?

Wow, guys. I'm completely the opposite. I'll look at my backlog and pick a game and play it, then get bored after about 20 minutes, look at my backlog and pick another game, and switch them out. Then I'll start watching a random movie or TV show online while I'm playing the game. Then I'll get on my phone, turn on Pandora, and start texting my friends while doing the other two things. Every so often, someone comes over unannounced and I'll just turn it all off and go out.

Maybe there's just something wrong wiOMG SQUIRREL

Haven't played much Suits Strike Zero and can't say it has been enticing me. But I'm loving Crimson Dragon and would have no doubt paid 15-20 dollars for this.

This is exactly what I do.

Tonight I'm deciding what game to play after work. Settle on Tropico 4 Gold on the 360. Install it, load it up, look and see DLC I would want and go "well I'll wait to play this until I buy the DLC". Take it out, delete it from the HDD. Pick out Port Royale, install it, load it, see there is DLC that I'd want to play, then do the exact same thing I did with Tropico. Now I'm going to fall asleep to 80s commercials on YouTube like every night.

I'm expecting either Forza 5 or Killer Instinct Season 1 to be the first full retail games on GwG on XB1.

You guys ever finish a game...look at your backlog and try to decide on which one you want to play next....then after an hour say "fuck it" and end up not wanting to play anything at all?
On occasion. Also, sometimes, I'll finish a game, think about what I should play next, and then decide to replay the game I just beat.
