Oh phew! ;) With normal mode, super mode, and arrange mode, I'm also very happy with it. I'll definitely play through it at least 3 times.
 
Anyone tried the 2k12 legend showcase mode? How good (as in authenticity -looks, signature moves, etc ) are the legends? If not, I'd rather just download some mod (already have PC version, which didn't get this DLC...). Very tempting though, wonder if it would go on sale again--finals maybe?
 
with jet grind radio finally coming i cant wait to play it. i hope it does well, now all i need is shenmue and power stone 1-2 on xbla. wouldnt mind evolution either :D

I'm withholding excitement on JGR until we get confirmation that all the original music will be in. Crazy Taxi took a big hit in my book without Pizza Hut, KFC, and the Offspring.

It's cell shaded so the look of everyone is completely different then how you see them in the normal game

The presentation and accuracy of the players is spot on and the game modes have been reviewed well.

I'm just on the fence because by buying it you're breaking the achivments in 2K 12 and wont be able to get them all in the game.

Couldn't you buy it, then promptly delete it from your system? That way, it shouldn't affect your game, and you can download it when you're ready.

No, that wont work

It uses the PS3 system of "get every other achievment" so there's no way to get the DLC and still get a completed game. The second you get the game updated for the new DLC you're screwed because then you have 1250.

You can't even get every other achievment in the game THEN have the "get every achievment" unlock, it's glitched.

As long as you're at 950/1000, buy and play the DLC getting all of its achievements, "the Whole Shebang" will unlock after the final DLC achievement.

If you get a SINGLE DLC achievement before getting all the other on-disc achievements, it will glitch on you and you can't get 1250G.

As far as the DLC, I thought it was complete rubbish at 800msp because it's basically just cell shaded mini games and blacktop modes we've already played before, but at 400msp I suppose it's worth it.

So far that's not true either

Every single person who's got that unlocked has been found to be cheating or a fluke unlock that happened before they unlocked everything.

That's how my friend unlocked it, I was there (well in the party lol) when he did. It's also how Sly Breezy did it, and he's as legit as the day is long.

I live in Europe but I don't have any connection troubles playing ranked and player matches in Gears of war 3 . I recommend everyone the dlc because its amazing.

Couldn't the DLC be purchased through xbox.com, then deleted from your download queue before your 360 tries to download it? After getting the rest of the achievements in the base game, readd the DLC to your queue from your purchase history.

Yeah, a third of those posts on there are from me lol. I do agree that first guy mentioned glitched it, but reading later on those people posting are legit.

As for Bloomy asking about downloading the DLC through xbox.com, that's a GREAT idea. I honestly can't see why it wouldn't work

Oh no, my information is out of date. I am still very interested in Under Defeat HD, but now I am a bit discouraged knowing I am locked out given my 360's region. My hope for a relatively inexpensive way to experience the game is now dependant on a potential localizer. I went from happy a great Dreamcast game I waited for to be confimed for XBLA, to a bit saddened I may not be able to enjoy another great Dreamcast.

Don't forget, Tower Records was another location in Crazy Taxi. Youngins may not know a time before the convienience of teh internets, it was a store I could get special orders from other nations such as Japan and the UK. Given how that retailer is gone due to being outdated, I guess it could be difficult to get permission to be in Crazy Taxi. Anyway, it is interesting that this is a unique game where product placement advertising added to the experience of a game. The only other type of game I can think of at this moment are the driving games with tracks/cars like Forza. Still the gameplay is still there just without hearing "take me to Foot Locker" from a passenger.

Thought it'd be worth mentioning here, a bunch of gfwl games are discounted(courtesy of xbldb.com). Seems they're Capcon games and discounted decently imo.

Street Fighter 4 is 50% off at 800 msp, Lost Planet Colonies is 1200, Resident Evil 5 is 50% at 800 and Dark Void is 50% at 1200 msp.....if I had a decent rig, I'd snag Dark Void and RE5

I'm still waffling pretty hard on the avatar stuff since it's still so fucking overpriced. Will probably cut that section in half or more.

Also surprised I couldn't find more DLC worth picking up. I went through all my XBLA and 360 games and was surprised to find there wasn't much DLC that I thought was worth picking up at full price. I want the Castlevania DLC but at $10 a pop they can go fuck themselves.

Might add a couple more XBLA games to that list too. Just have trouble paying 800+ points on a game. Strania and Iron Brigade are tempting me hardcore though.

Lastly I would like to remind everyone that Game Room still exists and there are some fun classics in there. I'll probably poke around in there myself this weekend and see if there is anything else I want to pick up.

Nin2-Jump is sweet, and I don't see it ever going on sale, so you should be golden there. I don't think you'll be disappointed with Swarm. I should pick up Quarrel, but meh, my backlog is too big.

Yea I suspect pretty much all those games will never go on sale at this point. If they do, I'm out 200 points (most likely) at most. Quarrel is kinda fun. I love word games and RISK is one of my all-time favorite board games. Swarm seemed pretty awesome from the demo and with the developer struggling to make sales (pretty sure I read somewhere that they are in trouble) I worry that they may close their doors and Swarm might get de-listed. Rather not risk losing out on a game for a couple of bucks.

I cut that avatar list down from 3520 points already. Might cut a few more out of there but I really want all the junk. I'm a sucker for Mass Effect anything so that's not going anywhere, and the Suns stuff caught my eye while parusing the avatar gear shop so that's probably going to stay (Nash is one of my all-time favorite players. I have a Nash jersey-only jersey I own), The rest of the stuff has potential to be cut still.

EDIT: Just remembered I want DeathSmiles 2X from Games on Demand. Looked at the price and I guess that's not going to happen. I thought it was $20. $30 for a digital download? No sir.

I ALWAYS had problems with online games it seemed(felt like I was getting cheated or something) and I believe it totally depends on your internet connection/provider. I've switched a few providers in the house I'm currently in, and each of the three providers has various online results when playing competitively. Right now I have Verizon Fios and I always have a positive kill to death ratio in Gears. Never could do that before with old connections.

I even re-bought Gears 2 and I was doing better than I used to. Aiming from the hip and all.

Check out Food Fight. Loved it on the Atari 7800, paid full price in Game Room, no regrets. Would've done the same for Desert Falcon if it was the 7800 version rather than 2600.

Single plays or buying a mascot (40 MSP each, 2 MSP back) could also be used get an even MSP total back to ending in 0, provided Game Room purchases count toward the Rewards program. Here's a 360 Achievements topic with medals that can be earned in a single play :

You pretty much hit the nail on the head there. It's all about saving anything we can and if 5% off is the best we can do, well then it'll do. I didn't even factor in how much I actually spent on points anyway. At most I spend 80% of face value on them. Some of the ones being used now were bought for about $30 per 4k so the actual cost of most everything I'm buying now is far less than retail. But, like most, I don't usually take that into account because that's still 4k points that could be spent regardless of how much I paid for those points.

I would laugh so hard if any of that stuff went on sale at this point.

I know for a fact Game Room stuff counts as I bought a bunch of games last time they did the 5% back. I think Food Fight was one of them, if not I'll snag it this time. I also snagged the Tempest mascot for Game Room last time. I'm a die hard Tempest fan so I had to have it. Been kicking myself since I didn't buy the XBLA version during the last sale. At least I got the chance to correct that mistake! I got 890 points back last time, I don't think I'm going to come close this time.

Spent 3000 or so points on rock band songs. They never go on sale or if they do, it's never anything I want. So with the 5% promotion it's like I'm earning a free song.

You could have earned just as many bonus points for free by doing Bing searches instead of spending $100 or whatever on the marketplace.

Even in Chrono's post, he emphasized how little he was saving. I think we're all aware that 5% is not a lot, but for content that people have been waiting forever on and are ready to just break down and pay full price for, 5% off > 0% off.

Awwww dammit ... I won a code for "Warp" (and in my elation, redeemed it). Now I actually am considering doing the House Party dump for the 800pt rebate. It wouldn't be so bad, except for the thought that I'm actually paying 800pts for Nexuiz. No offense intended to THQ/Illfonic, but I didn't ask for arena shooting to "come back", since there's plenty of good shooters essentially deserted. And worse, I'm now compelled to buy "Nexuiz" on Feb. 29th in order to get 5% back ... so in trade for my obsession for 50-cents, MS/THQ thinks there's 1 more obsessive "arena shooter" fan who HAD to have this game on "day #1".

How is the XBLA version of Lumines? I've been waiting forever for it to go on sale, guessing it'll never happen... I loved the PSP version and will probably get the Vita version when it drops sub $20.

It's pretty gimped, you get a base version with like 5 skins and you have to purchase the rest. The dpad on the 360 controller is not that great, definitely better on the psp
 
If you get Qubed, not only does it include Lumines, it also has the Advance Challenge Pack, VS CPU Pack, Puzzle/Mission Pack, Rockin' Holiday Pack, and both Genki Rockets skins (Heavenly Star and Breeze), plus Every Extend Extra Extreme & Rez (there's only 2 packs not included on the disc for Lumines, Booster Pack and Tokyo Club Mix Pack). You can pretty much get it for $15 at the most now, which is a GREAT deal considering each game is normally $10 on XBLA.

I knew there was a reason I bought that disc. Guess I should boot it up sometime. D'oh!
 
Wow, I had no idea this "Qubed" disc existed. Most definitely buying! $9.99 used is the best I can find, at GameStop.

Was going to buy Do Sex (Deus Ex) from Gamefly, but I think I want this disc more.

Amongst the XBLA compilation discs (see OP#3, then click "XBLA Discs"), there's a few great values (including Qubed) that deserve a once-over:
  • Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged (white/yellow case) ... under $7
  • Xbox Live Arcade Vol. 1 (green case) ... under $7 w/ an extra Sega Superstars Tennis disc included
  • Namco Museum Virtual Arcade ... $20'ish
  • Qubed ... $10'ish
  • and ... maybe ... the Triple Pack ... $20'ish

Good news everyone. Long-awaited Fez is coming to XBLA on May 2.

It seems odd to have a release date so far in advance. This such a high profile game that I wonder if there's a new house party/summer of arcade/game feast type of event planned for May.

I was gonna post this but didn't know if I should post it in the dotw topic or not. FEZ is probably the biggest arcade game to be released this year and I'm so exited it finally went gold!

Sucks that Microsoft was pushing for 800MSP but Fish wants it to be 1200. Either way it's worth it day one.
