Just days after revealing Bubble Bobble Neo! would be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade, Taito have officially announced the game at Microsoft's Spring Preview event.
The game appears to be a port of the recently released Bubble Bobble Plus! for the Wii, complete with new 3D versions of the player characters, arranged and regular modes as well as 4 player multiplayer, online leaderboards and rankings. Whether this will also have online multiplayer is up in the air at the moment.
Bubble Bobble Plus! was considered quite good, but the characters had a lot of aliasing due to their very small size and 3D nature. Hopefully the higher resolution of the Xbox 360 will rectify that.

I'm super excited for this title :whee:

The game is set to be released in 2009 for 800MSP, and if it's anything like the WiiWare version you can expect downloadable content as well.
Bubble Bobble was one of my favorite NES games. I'm sold already. Day 1 purchase.
Ditto. I still have it for NES and played the shit out of it when I was a kid. One of my favorite games period, not just for the NES. I'll be grabbing this Day 1.

After reading this post earlier this morning, I've had the Bubble Bobble song stuck in my head since. I agree that this is a day 1 purchase. Taito needs to lock down a release date. I can't wait!
Nice, Bubble Bobble on XBLA, I'm so going to... wait, 800 points? Pass.
Same here. For some reason it does seem high looking at those screenshots.

Oddly, I love Bub and Bob bot because of Booble Bobble, but because of Bust a Move 2. I never got into Bubble Bobble, because it just felt like... The more boring version of Milon's Secret Castle... XD

On the wii version, some of the later stages in this looked really cool and inventive (I've seen videos, y'see.) The graphics seem to be really sharp here, light a perfect update to the minimalistic styles of old Nintendo games, with all the color they had, as well. This is how I've wished more Community games looked!

Games need Character, and Personality!

And Man, this game would benefit from a solid stage creator, too! It's so nice and modular, as if it was all made on a grid...

Bubble Bobble, Worms 2 & Serious Sam (on top of regular RB purchases)? I'm going to be hurting for points in the near future.
What happened to this? I thought it would be out in May??
I haven't seen anything new, I hope it comes out soon.

Bust-A-Move 2 is what got me to play Bubble Bobble, actually. Now, I love both series. I have actually beaten the arcade version of Bubble Bobble.

I didn't even know there was a Wii version, but I'll wait for this.

As of right now it's unkown if were getting this game this week:
As Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time is not coming to Japan, the Japanese will get their hands on Bubble Bobble Neo! - a HD version of the recent Bubble Bobble Plus! for WiiWare. The game is certainly coming stateside, but whether or not its this week is anyone's guess.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

I downloaded the demo last night...pretty sweet game, brings back a lot of memories, definitely getting it day one...whenever that is. It sucks that the "unlock full game" option is there but won't work on my US account :bomb:

You also unlock 2 gamerpics for pressing start . I got one on them on my gamercard.

Now THIS is how you handle a remake (I'm still bitter over aesthetics of Turtles In Time Re-Shelled, lol). You're allowed to to make new graphics if you actually add significant gameplay functionality... 4 player Bubble Bobble, yeah baby!!
well, it looks like this will finally get released on Wednesday along side C&C: Red Alert 3 - Commander's Challenge
Link?

BEST GAME EVER

You can get Happy Ending easily in this game. Just plug in 2nd controller on Level 100 and beat the game. Make sure both are alive at least.

It's the same as the Wii version but the graphics, sound, and menus are wayyyyyyy better. The widescreen borders are nice too. Any Bubble Bobble fan should not hesitate to buy this.

This is a remake I can get behind! I hated the paint-job on Turtles in Time. But in the case of Bubble Bobble Neo, any loss of "authenticity" is offset some significant new functionality (4-player).

played the demo and absolutely loved it.. havent played this game in almost 20 years it seems. but no online multiplayer really hurts the sale for me. would it really be that hard to add it to the game, seriously?

Game is super awesome! I was playing co-op with my sis and we were fighting over the goodies the enemies leave behind...etc. Just had a blast, brought me back to the old days. Some levels in the 50's are insane though.

I'm a tad disappointed. I was expecting a little more than a polished NES game for my $10. It's still fun though.

I couldn't figure out level 35 last night. Multiple enemies stuck in holes I couldn't get to and no lightning bubbles to zap 'em.

There is a way to save, but it's only temporary saves. Just pause and quit. The next time you play, it should give you the option to resume your save file (which will then delete the save file).

That's as robust as the save system really needs to be for this sort of game.
