XBLA - Bubble Bobble Neo - 800pts - 8/16
There is a way to save, but it's only temporary saves. Just pause and quit. The next time you play, it should give you the option to resume your save file (which will then delete the save file).
Awesome news. Will try tonight, was at level 58 and wanted a break so I stopped.

I tried that last night and it started me over at level 1.

Also I changed my control scheme, backed out of the menu which brought up a 'saving preferences window' yet when I started in again the controls were reset to the default.

You can abuse the save feature, just quit when you get hit (but before you respawn), and you can reload your game with all your lives intact. That's how the japanese got such high scores in the leaderboards, they abused each level (grabbing a potion for the bonus round, etc). It's also useful if you're trying to get the 3 hidden rooms (reach level 10, 20, 30 without dying) and other things.

The only drawback is that after level 90, any save you do will put you back at level 90, so you are on your own after that.

N/M - I figured out where I went wrong. I elected to not continue on the 'death' screen, hence starting over at level 1. Pausing and quitting the game is what allows you to continue, as mentioned above.

Made it to the mid-50's last night without much hassle.

Has anyone played both the Wii version and this one? Is this version a lot better then the wii version? I'm inclined to get the wii version just because I've got a ton of points there, but if this one is significantly better... hmm.

I already posted that this one looks and sounds much better and has nicer menus. Plus the Achievements. It'd be a mistake to get the Wii version.
