XBLA - Carcassonne (800pts)

Well, all i need is the 'Lord of Carcassonne' achievement and i'll have them all. Thats 50+ points over an opponent in player match...so if anyone wants to help me, that would be great :) Tonight i was in a room with 4 of us total and 3 of us helped each other get the Metropolis achievement (city with 9+ tiles) so that was pretty cool :p
 
gahh I want to buy this but I only have 780 points :cry:

I played the demo for probably over an hour and i kinda really like it. Would love to play some games later if I get around to adding more points to my thing..

Nice...I'm still 5 achievements away. I'll be on for the next few hours playing if you want some help going for that last one.

Big thanks to Marten for helping me get my final achievement for the game. This is now my first game that i've gotten all of the achievements :)

It's easy to get all the achievements in Pac Man Championship but I do know what you mean as I can't get all the achievements for Catan or Assault Heroes or Astro Pop, go 32 levels without using your supa weapon, shit!

Oh I tried that x button tip, it just shows you the gameboard?!

Not a problem. I should attempt at least getting all the achievements in one game.

I'm 11/12 in TMNT. I just need to slap the fuck out of Shredder and not get zapped in the process.
 
Ya, the only game I have all the points in is UNO, and that took a while (40 wins online), but I really like playing it, I play it probably 3 or 4 times a week. I play some of the other games a lot, like R6 and Forza, but I'm eons away from getting some of their achievements (Elite status and $1,000,000 online respectively)
 
Well, I got around to getting the points. I got the full game, and I'm getting the hang of it pretty quick. Would love to play some matches with some cags later.
 
Yeah, I've gotten about all I can out of this single-player and would like to play some CAGs too (and get those last few achievements).

Well, I'm not talking cheating, just talking playing multiplayer since it requires you to do so for some of the achievements. I can try to get them legitimately in CAG games, at least at first ;). If you guys are too good, well, THEN maybe I'd be up for some "cheating" :lol:.

D'oh! I dunno, man - I haven't had it freeze on me on Carcassonne.

And thanks to Marten who did help me get one of the achievements last night and then promptly beat me in two regular games ;). I've gotten too used to single-player where you can win easily with farms - need to be more careful with other people playing!
 
The online seems to be getting better, I think they fixed the server or something, because it now pops up and says if no games are available.

Anyways, I was down 52 points going into final scoring today, and ended up TYING the guy. I had to go look at my Carcassonne rule book (from the physical game) to see if there was like a tiebreaker or something, but there's not. My record didn't change either.

I learned the same lesson a few games into online. A farm here and there is nice, but when I was running out of people and drawing monasteries or pieces to complete roads, I realized my folly.
 
My general rule of thumb is one farmer until very late game. Usually I try to nab a central location for that farm (something that will hopefully score around 15 points). One of the most baffling things to me is why people don't use their meeples at the end of a game, farms are worth 3 points per city they touch, that's a lot more points than extending your road or city by one square with the last tile, you should be laying down a farmer somewhere. The game I tied last night I was able to make such a comeback because I had all my meeples down and the other guy had 3 still.

I notice that to. once the tiles wind down I sart unloading on my left over meeples... usually on incomplete cities and roads, but farms if I'm lucky are fine as well.
 
Anyone wanna try and get a 4 people cag game going later tonight?

Also, I noticed it only froze when I was holding the back button looking at other people's farms and the player laid down their tile. So from now on I've only been looking at that during my turn, and I haven't had any problems. Anyone care to test this out later? See if maybe its a bug in the game?

they rotate the map peice is probably what they mean.
 
so i had a guy just lay pieces down like an idiot, not buil anything, just put pieces in the stupidest places. didnt make any sense. it wasnt like he was building stuff and trying to sabotage or build off others.
so annoying.
 
ill be on throughout the day. send me invites, i want to play cags. preferably in 3-4 player matches to get those achievements.
 
Ok, this was weird. I just tied in a 2 player game on XBL, and it gave me the Lord of Carcossonne acheivement (beat an opponent by 50 points or more). Must be a glitch.
 
About half of my losses are from other people quitting and it tells me I win, but I end up with a loss on the leaderboards. VERY annoying. I hope they fix it.

That's how I got mine as well. Granted I had 2 games back to back I won by 49.

I really enjoy this game, I play it daily, it's sort of taken over UNO as my relaxing game.

What does rivers 2 do? I wasn't that impressed with 1.

I was really hoping they would have the other games like hunters and gatherers for expansions.

If you didn't care for 1, 2 isn't going to change that. it's basically more of the same. 12 tiles, two lakes, a fork and some start/end points.

Eh, if it doesn't add new rules or ways to make points, not worth 300 pts.
 
Rivers 2 is literally more of the same. It just makes a long river to start. I don't know if I can even recommend it for 300 points, that's about 100 more than I was looking to pay for 12 tiles.
 
I blindly bought the Rivers II expansion. Hadn't even tried the Rivers I expansion that was included in the game until right now. They're pretty cool and I don't mind supporting a smaller game. 300 points is definitely the highest I'd go though. Plus I have a ton of points from the CC deal last week so I don't mind splurging for once.
