1UP reports of an SNK Playmore pamphlet circulating the halls of Tokyo Game Show, advertising Metal Slug for Xbox Live Arcade. Allegedly, the text translates to "the original," suggesting that Metal Slug 1 will arrive on Microsoft's download service. But when?

Aside from the XBLA pipeline being jammed full of pending titles, Metal Slug also has its unofficial successor, Alien Hominid, to contend with. With Hominid well ahead of Metal Slug in the queue, and (hopefully) a more dedicated effort from Microsoft to diversify XBLA content as the service evolves, SNK's classic could fall by the wayside. We predict a late 2007 rollout.
From Joystiq.

Contra, Alien Hominid, Castle Crashers, Metal Slug..

I kind of find this a bit silly. You can get the trilogy of metal slug on Xbox. Metal Slug compilations coming out on PSP and Wii have 6 metal slug games...... So it's hard to see one metal slug game coming for XBLA a year from now as terribly exciting.

When the fuck are these game going to come out!?! This is bullshit, I'm sick of Microsoft being a cocktease. I feel like I'm going to die before we get some of these good announced games on the XBLA.

Yeah no shit. I see 2006 as one long year of serious foreplay from microsoft. And there better be a big load all at once coming after all this teasing.

That is the worst logic I've seen today. Its like saying "Boy, its sure hard to get excited about Metal Slug on any platform because its readily available on SNK machines"

I'm not overly excited because I've played the franchise to death. I assume this is the mystery franchise on Xbox Live right?

Exactly. It's kinda cool if you like waiting... but I'll be grabbing all 7 arcade games (6 is included now) as soon as the compilation hits.

One thing that none of the other versions offers is 2 player on-line co-op. These games are fun due to co-op. I'll bite for 400 points. More than that and I'm not so sure... I just got 4 & 5 for $9 at the last CC sale, but again - no on-line co-op there. We'll see...

With all the games they've got announced for XBLA, they could probably release a game a week for a year now and not get them all out. And they're constantly announcing more and getting more companies interested. I hope the flood gates open on this thing and we actually start getting multiple titles. I think the pricing will adjust a little too, when gamers actually have enough releases that they can pick and choose each week instead of just gobbling everything up because there's finally something new available.

I don't know. That statement that was made sounded like the "mystery franchise" game would be available sometime during this Bringing it Home campaign over the next week. Maybe it was just worded poorly.
Um, where does it say online co-op? I mean you would think that would be included but these days you never know.
Well it's one of the primary features that MS looks for in arcade titles. It's included in Cloning Clyde, Gauntlet, and Smash TV. It's announced for Contra. Has there been an XBLA game yet where that feature was part of the original game an not implemented on XBLA? I don't think so. If they put this up without it, it will be a complete and utter waste of space.

oh fuck ya. 3 is by far the best one. I'm so syched to hear this. Now there is just the part about it finally coming out which it never will. Hell we heard this news last year and we still haven't heard barely anything on it since.

Eh, I've been waiting to pick up the metal slug games once they get bc but if this comes out for 400pts I'd buy it.

Wow, this was before the anthology.. I was hyped then. While I do love Metal Slug 3 (probably my favorite one of the series, actually), I already own it on XBox and via the anthology collection. I'll get this if it's 400 points and has co-op over XBox Live.
Um, where does it say online co-op? I mean you would think that would be included but these days you never know.
It doesnt, but Metal Slug 1 on Gametap already has online coop, so Im sure it will have the same features as that version.

BTW, you can play MS1 online coop on Gametap for FREE.

This had better be a $5 purchase. Even then I may not get it. Ive got Metal Slug anthologies falling off the shelf.
Hell yea, I love metal slug 3. I don't care how much it cost, I'm definitely buying it.
That's because you have a shitload of free ms points :p

This would have been cool but with the anthology hitting wii, psp and playstation 2, seems like we are kinda getting the short end of the stick.

same for me. they could price this at whatever they want and I would still buy it. def. going to be my next live arcade purchase.

while metal slug 3 is good, I'd much rather have metal slug x. but I'll take it since I'm such a sucker for metal slug.
On a related note: when in the fuck is Castle Crashers coming out?
It coming out Early 2008. I'm Glad to Hear Metal Slug 3 is coming out pretty soon, geesh it been a long time since they announced it.
On a related note: when in the fuck is Castle Crashers coming out?
That's what I wanna know...haven't heard anything since.

Castle Crashers was delayed until early 2008 last I heard...which means late 2011 when you factor in Microsoft's certification process.
Way overpriced..can find Anthology all over the place here at under $20.
1) Some people don't have a Nintendo 6...err.. Wii or a Playstation 2.

2) A lot of us cashed in on 20,000+ free points from SmarterChild. Free is always the right price.

Not for 800 points. I already have like 15 editions of this fucking game.

I mean, if they released the whole trilogy for like 800 or 1200 points, that would be one thing.

i do love metal slug, but i dont know if i'd want to use 800 points to buy it, maybe if i got a lot of extra points, great game though.
