PAC-MAN returns in this enhanced version of the all-time classic videogame! PAC-MAN Championship Edition™ brings you back to those classic days of pizza parlors and arcades with the first brand new mazes released in more than 26 years. Think you can break your old record? With mazes that dynamically change shape during play, new timed game modes, and high-definition graphics, it's time to experience the evolution of PAC-MAN and play the Championship Edition now!

 • A brand new game: PAC-MAN Championship Edition was created specially for the first-ever Xbox 360™ PAC-MAN World Championship held in New York City in 2007. Now you can play the Championship Edition on Xbox LIVE®.
 • New mazes and game modes: All-new mazes feature great gameplay challenges. Try the Darkness Course where maze walls are invisible and only the area around PAC-MAN and the ghosts can be seen. Or check out the Freeway Course, a high-speed challenge where everything moves at twice normal speed.

I think it's high time they released Pac Man: Nobody Gives a Shit Anymore Edition.

I wouldn't consider that "something that would go down in gaming history" but if they actually remastered it for high-definition, I'll grab it.

And here is why they are able to release shit.

Yeah, damn me for buy a game I like especially since I don't own a copy yet.

Eh. They release this crap to curry favor with Namco. NAM/SOFT 4 LIFE.

Yes and no. Maybe in this particular case that's true, but there is absolutely no question that if gamers didn't buy this stuff, it wouldn't be made. Microsoft and developers are doing it to make money, if they aren't they will stop. What would you rather do as a company, make the millionth Pac-Man re-release or develop a brand new game?

Hell, I can't blame them since there is obviously a market for it. But I'd wager than a good percentage of people that bitch about the price still purchase some of these games.

What's mindbottling about this is that MS actually thinks that this is something hardcore XBOX fans want...and at 800pts that's a double whammy slap in the face. At 400pts I may have given it a chance but now even if I like the demo, 800pts is way to steep for Pac-Man Widescreen HD.

It was one of the top-selling XBLA games.

I think it's a decent idea....not a 800 point idea, but 400 points would be great.

As for the announcement surrounding it, that was just plain dumb.

They could have released Pac-Man Vs. with online multiplayer and maybe some people would have been excited. But this is just weak!

It can't be. What place is it at sales wise...Regardless, if it was a top seller at 400pts, 800pts will be a totally different story.

I could have swore it was up at MajorNelson like a year ends list of XBLA but I can't find it anywhere.

I think it was number 3.

800 pts? WTF are they smoking?

Looks cool, but not $10 cool. This should be a freebie to anyone that bought both Pac and Ms. Pac already.

Considering that Nintendo was the developer of Pac-Man Vs. (if memory serves, Shigeru Miyamoto was involved with it), that's not very likely to happen.

As far as the actual announcement, Microsoft may have used a wee bit of hyperbole beforehand, but I think a lot of you are slamming this unjustly. It's been 26 years now, and Pac-Man still manages to sell well. You might not be the target audience, but there are a lot of people who are going to buy this game and love it.
if there was a 2-player co-op, that would rock.. but sigh :(
Sorry but that feature is being saved for Super PAC-MAN Hyper Turbo Edition X on the Zbox 720.

w/ fingerprint, voice, retina, & subdermal chip recognition. that way you can feel "safe & secure" that you're not playing co-op with a "domestic terrorist."

I AM the target audience and I still say it is lame. If it was 400pts, it would be a whole different story.

For reference, Ms. Pac-Man is my all time favorite game.

Let's break this down:

- Major announcement? Not on your life?
- Not that big? Not even small
- Cool nonetheless? For 800 pts? No

If it was free, then it might be worth it. This is a bigger rip than the VC's Pac-Man. I'll pick that up before this.

I'll give it a fair chance, and who knows, maybe even buy it if I feel it's that much fun...and I guess once upon a time, changing the original pacman so much would be big news, but ummm...a lot of the current gamers didn't grow up on pacman, and it means little or nothing to them...Ms. Pacman is one my all time favorites too, but still...I can see why so many think it's a let down..
I think it's high time they released Pac Man: Nobody Gives a Shit Anymore Edition.
Actually I think that's exactly what this version is :p

I like the idea of this release but for 800 points it should have included Live multiplayer, and even then its a bit overpriced.

I would def. be in if it was Pacman Vs. That was a game that came free with select GCN namco games. 3 people played ghosts and one person played pacman. I would gladly pay $10 for an XBL version of that. Single player is not worth $10...

as an anouncement, it was a bit of a letdown. However, it is a cool little addition.

I'll definitly give the demo a whirl tommorow and see what happens. Who knows, it might actually be worth the 800.

Looks like it's big enough news to make the front page of Yahoo.

The new game, "Pac Man Championship Edition," is the second and final version Iwatani personally designed, and was created for the final round of the Xbox 360 Pac-Man World Championship in New York, when nine finalists played it for the first time.

I was almost right with my post in the "GiANT ANNOUNCEMENT" thread.
