You *do* get better, sorta. I only got x7 once. But I can usually get x4 or 5 easily now.
 
Damn! Was killing my best score and the game locks up on me again! My custom soundtrack freezes, screen freezes, the controller doesn't respond. You have to manually shutdown the 360. Hope they patch this soon.

I had this game lock up on me in the demo when I tried it as well.

bought this Friday night, fun game but man do I suck at it. My highest score has been 73 thousand and change. Watching the top videos is depressing, man there is no way I could come close to what those people are doing

I got a 6 last night, and I used all my slow-mo to get it.

One thing I found that helps start off a chain is to bomb something to get a horizontial chain first, it makes the next sets of pairs easier than vertical ones, and the bomb gives you a 2x to start I believe.

The 24x chain is a lie. It's impossible.
 
Yeah I do all my chains in slow mo too! But it runs out too fast :bomb:..hence why I usually only get a x5-7. The first time I got a x7 was an accident, so that was pretty nice.

I guess getting the 1 million isn't that insane. If you can keep getting those challenges they pay off really well. I think the highest bonus I ever got was 45,000. The 9 flushes aren't hard either, and they are 10k each.
 
For those with freezing issues:

I checked the xbox.com forum for this game and the developers found out that the bug causing the problem is something that never showed up on dev kits and only showed up on retail systems. They were able to create a patch that should fix the issue and a couple of other bugs, and have submitted it to Microsoft for approval.

Thats great because i have really wanted to get this, but after it freezing in the demo after a mere 1:26 I have been waiting for a patch to get it.
 
Yeah I was really into this game, so I was waiting for news of a patch since I had two solid games wiped out by that bug. I give them props for working to fix it ASAP
 
Question for getting high scores. I am basically getting most of my points by getting the hands that have a time limit that show up on the side. Is that how others are doing it? I've hit near 500,000 and other than trying for royal flushes and getting the hands that show up occasionally on the side for bonus the rest of the points are very small. Are you able to really get a good amount of ponts doing combos? I can't get more than 3x and once in awhile 4x.

combos is what you need to do to set yourself up as they work as a multiplayer. Now I really suck at this game but what you really want to do is first off getting the biggest combo chain you can at first (though it is better to keep up setting up combo chains through the whole game) and then work on your hands as the combos is your multiplier.

still wish I could find more people playing this online which I think blows away the single player

My Girlfriend loves this game. Which is funny cause she bought me a points card, she never played this game, I bought this game, and now she plays it at least a hour every time she is here.
 
I've cracked the top 700 on the "All Time High Score" leader board. I'm also in the top 200 "Longest Chain" leader board, with a 9x chain.

It's an absolutely fantastic game, but the 24x chain and million score achievements are both absolutely asinine.

Heck, I really suck at combos.

DLC is probably not worth it though. Just more puzzles and two new backgrounds (which probably means two new songs too). The DLC should be free for what little it adds to the core game. Backgrounds and more entries to a secondary mode shouldn't carry a cost.
 
Well I will probably buy it anyway just to support such a great game. It costs less than crappy picture packs or themes which are utterly worthless.
 
Yea at least they didn't follow Lumines Live price points. I'd pick up the puzzle one if I was half way through the puzzle one but I'm a retard lol. I just got the 5X combo today though and lasted till scroll speed 48^^
 
Definitely worth the points! No freeze-ups here. I still haven't seen any posts explaining how in the fuck Puzzle 20 is solved. Bueller?

I did figure out that puzzle, though, about 5 minutes after I posted this.....

I remember loving the demo when the game first came out, and I finally picked it up for 400 points from the Game of the Week. Wow... so good. I love puzzle games- not so familiar with poker- and this game is possibly the most addictive puzzle game on XBL.
 
I purchased this game @ release date and never had any regrets. for the 400 points it costs now that it's on sale it is a bargain and i'd say buy it. need online multiplayer help, achievements or just wanna play? PM me I have never played anyone online...yet lol
