I got MvC2 and waiting for Beyond Good and Evil on Monday. MvC2 is kinda disappointing. The difficulty and speed has been ramped up from what I remembered it used to be on the Dreamcast. I used to be able to beat the game on medium stars without dying and having a leisure time with it, but on medium and even easy on the XBL version I'm getting my ass handed to me in the later levels.

Maybe you're just out of touch? I didn't notice any upscaling of difficulty but then again I literally haven't gone a month without playing it the last 10 years.
The consensus I got is that the Pinball FX2 "classic" pack is skip-able, right? Grabbed the Marvel one and debating the Core.
For half price I think the core is well worth it. They are more basic tables but they feel more like real pinball tables because of it.
I think MS limits you at 10K
No sir. I've got triple that in my account.

The limit was a daily redemption limit of 10k per day last I remember.

It's faster than the dc version, and it does seem harder in the sense that the AI is better at reading your inputs. Still, I wouldn't call it anywhere near hard, no matter the difficulty level.
I downloaded the demo of all the tables, played them all and decided to get the Core and Classic packs, didn't like any of the marvel tables much. I prefer the classic and core packs over the marvel completely. The Secrets of the Deep table is my favorite, and Agents and Rome are good too. I don't really like the Extreme table or Biolab much though. Either way, I don't think the Classic pack is skip able at all, it's great. Better than the marvel pack to me at least.
The tables are cool...but the Classic Pack does not have the split screen head to head multiplayer that all of the tables that come out under FX2 have. For me, this means I don't play them b/c I usually play h2h with my wife.

Wait..Pinball FX2 has split screen Head to Head?!? I swear I tried to do this option and I could not find it in ANY of the levels...are you sure?

I've been thinking about trying a fighting game on 360 (my only experience with fighting games is SSFIV3D), and I was wondering if Marvel v Capcom 2 is a good option. I'm a big Marvel fan and this seems like a good price but will it be fun for a fighter noob like me?

MvC 2 is considered by many (including myself) to be the best if not one of the best fighters of all time.

If you are a button masher then you will enjoy yourself. It's not hard at all to play but be warned there are a lot of people that have been playing this game basically non-stop since it's release so there will be a lot of experienced players online that will destroy new players such as yourself.

It's not very noob friendly so you might have some trouble adjusting unless you put a lot of time into it. Or you could just button mash :p

you're getting owned on easy and medium??? that's on you

Okay, thanks for the replies. I think I'll give it a try. I realize, this game has been out since 2002 or so, so and this is one of the main fighters people play when they play a fighter, so I know if I venture online I'm going to have my butt handed to me. But maybe I'll find some fun in arcade.

I don't know what a person just getting in to fighting games would think of MvC2... I want to say it's nice to newcomers. You probably won't get instantly blown up like in other fighters. Plus some of the low-tier cheese in that game is pretty goddamn strong. Not strong enough to steal matches, but you should have fun.

It's probably the best fighter on XBLA, and 320 points is amazing. I fucking bought a dreamcast solely to play that game. So much of that game was the community though, I don't know what anyone would get out of it without that. Like I can get online and play some matches and it's fun, but damn does it feel lonely.

The fanwank is pretty weak compared to the sequels IMO, but the random characters are still pretty cool.

Also to that other dude: I'm pretty sure the game enables Turbo by default? Try checking the options to disable it? I think it might be stuck on that though.

okay, yeah, im definitely going to pick it up. great discount for what sounds like an amazing fighting game

and yep, still a little nervous about the purchase, but i just downloaded it

Decided to skip on Warhammer Kill Team, didn't seem to have much to it. I'd highly recommend buying the Marvel pinball tables for Pinball FX 2. I'd recommend all the packs to purchase that are currently on sale and that alone will give you at least half the amount of tables they've released so you'll be kept busy for awhile.

MvC2 is worth the purchase as well and for that price, it's a steal. MK Kollection shall be mine..

Deiced to pick up Warhammer Kill team myself, seems simple but enjoyable. Full House Poker will be a no-thank you though. Never realized how bad that game is... just really don't like anything much about it. Just left me asking, "how do you mess up poker this much?" Oh well. After Warhammer, The Baconing, the Marvel and Core pinball tables and BG&E tomorrow I'll still have plenty of MSP, most of which I got from playing Kinect demo's. haha.

You won't regret it. There's a reason this game used to sell for way over retail years ago. I still come back to play it some more every so often. If you have some friends to play against locally you will find it's really a blast.

I loved the heck out of FHP despite the issues, but then I played the game to learn how to play poker. With the game having unobtainable achievements I would have a hard time selling it to someone now though. One of my few full price purchases this year and I don't regret it. When I heard about the seasonal achievements I knew it was going to be now or never so I bit.

I'm a fighter noob too but I adore MvC2. It's a bit hard at times but there are a lot of fun characters to play and the game is just a blast. Highly recomended for all Marvel fans.
I don't know what the hell people were expecting, and looking at last years BF XBLA sales they weren't that amazing, people are acting like last years sale was 75% off everything or something !!
halo, trials, splosion man, GTA SA, monkey island, portal. all for $5 or less each

I just don't like the interface or lack of feedback on what the other players were doing. Video poker for me has never been something I really like, so much of poker is the other people in the room.

As a semi-professional poker player and writer for the past 10 years I have a bit of a different perspectice on Full House Poker. Let me preface this by saying that I just picked it up yesterday and overall am glad I did. Having more poker options is never a bad thing. I could get into a detailed discussion about the actual poker mechanics but I'll try to leave it pretty basic.

-As a regular online poker player the pace of this game is painful, especially offline. Most full 9 or 10-handed cash games online will run anywhere from 50-70 hands per hour. You probably get in about half of that with FHP. The fast-forward for offline is nice, but there's no reason you can't just skip entirely to your next action. I'm not thrilled anymore by the novelty of playing poker so I don't need to sit and watch AI play 75% of the time.

-The AI strategy is just awful! Hopefully no one thinks that this is actually how anyone plays poker. Actually, I suppose it could be but they would have to be either immensely wealthy and just enjoy throwing away their money for the thrill or a complete fish who will get frustrated and leave the game soon enough. There are no starting hand standards, players will continue to stay to the river with no hand or draws, and they either blindly raise every hand or passively call you with nothing. If you have the patience for it and you avoid suck outs you can easily win 90+% of the hands you're involved in.

-The avatars and novelty animations/chip tricks do add some personality that normal online poker is missing. This is pretty much the most interactive poker software you can play out of those accepting US players. Online, PKR has an incredible 3D poker room but US players can only play for play money. Of course, this all slows the game down immensely. Most cash games, whether in a brick-and-mortal card room or online are pretty sterile and cold. As it should be, the focus is on the game at hand rather than extraneous software additions or socialization. It's part of what makes FHP different and enjoyable.

-I haven't tried multiplayer yet but I imagine it's going to be cringe-worthy. I can't imagine that half the players know what they're doing and any skill advantage you might have would be largely negated by having 5 or 6 players in every hand going all-in on whims. As there's no punishment for playing poorly why not? It's amazing to see the difference in play even when browsing .01/.02 games online. Again, just hopefully people don't get the idea that this is how no-limit hold'em is actually played.

All that being said, it's still fun to have a poker game I can load up any time when I'm on the console and don't feel like serious games on the computer. I'll be working on trying to wrap up the achievements over the next few days.

Also, yes, Chrono, I looked up those seasonal achievements. It's neat that they had those seasonal Heat tournaments but you can't play them anymore, obviously. At least you can get the 200 on the base game. Is there even anything going on for Winter? The last achievements I see are for Summer.

They would have done a winter season by now but the community complained the Spring season was too short so they streched out the next one extra long (way way to long imo) to give the slow people a chance to get the achievements. They can be earned in just a couple sessions so there's no reason to stretch out the season this long. At this rate the Fall season will start after Winter beings. I haven't heard anything on the next season just yet but I would hope it's coming soon.

If you're looking to get into Pinball FX 2, this would be my current opinion of each table.

Classic Core Pack:
Agents - *****
Speed Machine - ****
Buccaneer - **
Extreme - * (By far the worst of any single or packaged table)

PBFX2 Core Pack: (this would be my suggested pack)
Secrets of the Deep - *****
Pasha - *****
Bio-Lab - ***
Rome - **

Marvel Core Pack:
SpiderMan - ****
Blade - ****
Wolverine - **
Iron Man - **

Individual tables:
Sorcerer's Lair - ***** (fantastic table, and a great choice for beginners)
Mars - ****
Paranormal - ****
Excalibur - ****
Earth Defense - ***
Captain America - ***
Street Fighter II Turbo - **
Nightmare Mansion - **
Rocky and Bullwinkle - * (I loved this table on PBFX1, but the better ball physics of PBFX2 make it insanely difficult.)

I don't currently own the Fantastic Four or Ms. Splosion Man tables.

Got Paranormal for free a few weeks ago and started playing PBFX2 today. Really enjoyed it, and ended up buying the classic core pack!

I ended up buying the Core and Marvel packs after playing all the trials. I can't say I'm disappointed, especially when it comes out to 100 points for a table. Thanks to all those who recommended these!

Ms. Splosion Man is a wonderful table to play! If you at all interested in Ms. Splosion Man, or pinball in general, it's a great buy! I haven't played the Fantastic 4 table all that much. In fact, I forgot I even had it until trying to remember how it plays lol

What turned me off from Ms. Splosion Man is that I already own the game itself, and ALL of the music and sound effects from that table are recycled from the game. If it had new voice samples and music, then I would have bought it. As is, it just seemed like more of the same that I already heard way too much. Thank goodness for trial versions of tables.

Ah makes sense. I only played the trial of Ms. Splosion Man, so all of that is new to me still. I was going to get it on sale, but Splosion Man got so hard around world 3, it became a chore to play rather than fun. To this day I still can't beat world 3-6

It doesn't help that each time they've had a season, the achievements have been glitched for the first few weeks.
Ah makes sense. I only played the trial of Ms. Splosion Man, so all of that is new to me still. I was going to get it on sale, but Splosion Man got so hard around world 3, it became a chore to play rather than fun. To this day I still can't beat world 3-6
Splosion Man is a fantastic game, but I agree the game is too hard at times. Co-op became a nightmare of timed button presses between you and the other player.

Also, my main gripe with Splosion Man is the lack of creativity in the game as you progress through the stages. It just felt like so much of the game was the same thing. It could have really benefited from more environments, enemies, and hazards.
They can be earned in just a couple sessions so there's no reason to stretch out the season this long.
I'm confused....are you saying that the missed seasonal achievements can be obtained still later?!? I thought they were seasonal and year specific!?

Meh, I worked a 12-hour shift yesterday and later bonded with the lady, so I forgot all about the BF sales. I can live without Full House Poker but would definitely like to see Kill Team on sale again. THQ publisher sale maybe?
If it comes down to it, I may have to get more points to get BG&E HD on monday. For now, should I get one of the Pinbal FX2 tables?
If you enjoy Pinball FX at all, I'd say they're pretty much a must-buy.

Actually, I only played the first FX in demo form. It was good, but I passed on it back then.

The newer tables are better than the original ones. If you just want to play a little every once in awhile, it may not be worth the money. Best thing to do is demo the tables and see how irritated you are when the time limit is up :D
If you're looking to get into Pinball FX 2, this would be my current opinion of each table.

Classic Core Pack:
Extreme - * (By far the worst of any single or packaged table)
I have to add that Extreme is almost an exact mirrored copy of infamous real life table
Black Knight 2000 (BK2K)
Which is I might add one of my all time top 5 favorite real pins.

Is Extreme as good as BK2K? No. But short of playing Virtual Pinball recreations on PC this is as close as it get.

"You've got the power, You've got the might, get ready for battle, beat the black knight" :D

I had PBFX 1 and 2, and bought the Street Fighter 2 table I think for full price, and have the couple they gave away for free over the years.
I've been waiting forever for the tables to go on sale... FINALLY I have PBFX2 Core and Marvel Tables!
More PBFX sales please...

Honestly, the only reason I even bit on the two packs I did buy (Marvel and Core) is because the damn paranormal table gave me one achievement so now the game is mocking me on my played game list! Okay, more seriously, now that I actually have one table it just seemed like a waste of HD space to only have that one and besides, it isn't like I paid for my points in the first place so why not?

Still need to demo Outrun, don't normally care to much about racing games but with it getting pulled at the end of the year I'll give it a shot.

Heh, totally woke up this morning and thought, "where are the cyber Monday deals!" then remembered it is only Saturday. Blah.
I'm confused....are you saying that the missed seasonal achievements can be obtained still later?!? I thought they were seasonal and year specific!?
I was saying that the seasonal achievemnents can be earned easily. They are seasonal so the unobtainable ones are still unobtainable and will always be. My point was there is no reason to stretch out the seasons as long as they are.
It doesn't help that each time they've had a season, the achievements have been glitched for the first few weeks.
I was able to obtain all the summer achievements in the first game, but yea they are very glitchy. The standard 3 months for a season is more than enough time imo.

I have to give xbox credit for offering the Paranormal table for free on Halloween. I was never really a big pinball fan, but got the Paranormal table when it was free and became addicted to it. I just bought the Marvel table and might buy the other two if i become addicted to Marvel.

:applause:

I agree. Giving me some free DLC is the best way to get me to pay for more.

That's why Ms. Splosion Man looked interesting. Looked like some of the worlds had more personality than the original. Still, the original is fun. Just frustratingly hard at times.

I picked up MvC2 at the last minute last night. If nothing else it should be fun trying out all the different characters' moves....I was originally thinking of just waiting for a great sale on MvC3, but after reading the comments here and watching a few videos, the successor didn't seem all that impressive.

Despite my propensity for twin stick shooters/adventure games, I decided to pass on Kill Team. It seemed like a decent enough game for $5, but I still need to play through Guardian of Light, and I'd rather save my money for a[nother] sale on the Alien Breed games.

The Black Friday sale over all was pretty 'meh', but I can't really complain. I anticipate the Cyber Monday sale will be about the same (for some reason I have hardly any interest in Beyond Good and Evil).

The Fan Appreciation Sale has been pretty stellar though. Super Meat Boy was an insta-buy after playing the demo a while back, and right now I'm on the fence with Weapon of Choice. I didn't really care of the Baconing demo, nor any of the other games on sale, but it's still a pretty good spread. The toughest choice I'm facing right now though is with the pinball packs...

After a second demoing of all the tables, I'm finding the Marvel pack collectively the best (with the Blade table being the standout). I actually really enjoyed the simpler nature of the Agents and Buccaneer tables in the Classic pack, but the Extreme and Speed tables were so bad I probably wouldn't ever play them. All the tables in the Core pack were pretty cool, if not terribly compelling. The sound/music in Rome and Pasha were a little annoying though, and that aspect of these pinball tables really influences my ability to enjoy them. My favorite tables so far though have been Excalibur, Mars, and Sorcerer's Lair. Hopefully they'll go on sale one of these days too...

As a huge fan of XBLA releases and those sales, it's surprising that Microsoft has completely fumbled sales and such for Games on Demand and only recently have they even begun to think about the possibility of putting those games on sale. I don't believe for a second that any game that isn't a big name does well enough that they couldn't put a random game on sale each week for $9.99 or less for special cases to give those games a boost in purchases and interest in the service as a whole. Despite not having as deep as Games on Demand, Sony's been far more aggressive in pushing those kinds of games since the PS Store came back by putting a number of them on sale for $9.99 ($7.99 w/DLC for Burnout Paradise and $15 for Borderlands GOTY) to get people on board when the standard $30 or $40 price is out of the question for them.

Seeing the Xbox 10th Anniversary sale feature Halo 3 for $30 was a clear sign that Microsoft has no clue what they're doing with this stuff when they think that's a great deal. Put a random game on sale for $9.99 every week and they'd see a lot of people be much more interested in Games on Demand titles. For now, doing 25% off of $30-$40 games just isn't cutting it.
