CheapAssGamer. If you haven't played Portal after all the time it's been out, I don't know if you can be called a gamer. Dudebro, perhaps, but not gamer.
Wow, go to hell. I tried Portal, but it is very overrated IMHO. So maybe you're a dudebro for only playing games that are popular. Think I made a generalization based off 1 line you wrote? Guess what you've done too!

Way to put the "Ass" in Cheap Ass Gamer. Not everyone likes every game, get over it.

And back on topic (sorta), it does seem silly that they only had a sale on 2+ year old games and dlc...

Son of a bitch! After more than an entire year of release, Black Ops map packs are STILL Not on sale. No way I'm gonna pay $15 for any map pack. Activision's so fucking stubborn. Oh well, there's only one thing for me to do...

*uninstalls Black Ops and sends it to storage vault, moves to MW3*

I think I'm done with the sales for this year. Only bought Bastion and Gears Avatar Lancer prop. I'm glad those bing searches really paid off.

I have been trying to buy the Gears of War 3 season pass for the past 5 hours and now the sale is over. I keep on getting the error 'Status code 80153016' and it refuses to let me complete the purchase online. If they don't want to take my money that's fine, guess I wont be buying any of the DLC for this game.

PS: I fucking hate 'Error code 80153016'

Was this only on your console or through the website as well? I got that error last night, tries it on my laptop and was good to go.

anyone know if the MW2 map packs are worth it just for the COD4 maps in em? since COD4 was the best and MW3 sucks, isnt it better to just get MW2 and play only the cod4 maps that it has?

If you think 4 is the best, why are you playing MW2?

after COD4, BO comes closest to being the best. MW2 is a crapfest like MW3 is, but i thought with 4 COD4 maps it might redeem itself.

Was thinking about getting cod4. 2 Questions: 1.Is it still very active online? 2.I don't know the official term, but can i buy it on my wife's console then download it on mine where she can can play and i can play it as long as i'm on xbox live?

Don't know question 1 but you are correct on question 2
IIRC correctly CoD4:MW multiplayer is basically overrun with modders and hackers.
same thing with the second and W@W. Pretty soon I can see the same fate for Black OPs. Is it me or is anyone else kinda bored of COD alittle bit now?

I don't play much, but I've never had a problem getting into a game with CoD4 (last played a couple weeks ago) and I haven't personally had any issues with modders.

I hate to admit i am. For all the hate they get, the gameplay in multiplayer was always super tight. There is nothing technically wrong with MW3, but it just seems like there is no soul if that makes sense. Lately I've been playing BF3 and with all the "WOW!" moments, it is hard to convince myself to play COD anymore. With all that said I'm disappointed COD1 was not on sale. I guess I'll dig out my PC copy :/
They have gotten better because they are competing against Xbox live. Competition is whats driving the advancements and innovation we have seen in the online gaming market, not people speaking up and demanding more. The Playstation Network is where it is today because of Xbox Live, period. Competition is what drives innovation in a free market. Its always been this way and it always will be this way and this goes for the PC market as well as the console market.

As for the game pricing, your comparing the PC market to the console market. Don't get me wrong, your certainly entitled to do so. It just doesn't make any sense to do so, at least not in regards to game pricing. PC games are, for the most part, significantly cheaper than the console versions especially when talking about Xbox Live Arcade games. There is a smaller price discrepancy with On Demand games but Xbox Live Arcade games....well, MS is never going to compete with Steam's pricing in regards to these games. Its simply never going to happen. They are two completely different markets in regards to pricing. Piracy is one of the main reasons that this discrepancy in pricing exists. The consoles are just a completely different market and if you go around expecting MS to compete with Steams pricing....well, your going to be disappointed quite often.
I fully understand it is competition which drives down pricing and improves service, but I also wanted to factor in the fac tthat consumers tend to voice their demands before they vote with their feet and abandon one company for a competitor. So it is a combination of speaking up and, if it comes to it, switching over to a competitor.

I don't expect MS to offer deals as wonderfully insane as Steam, I would just like to see them loosen their grip on publishers in determining who can offer sales and when. Maybe they will come around, things have been better over the years, but the Xbox division seems to act like the Windows division where they don't feel the urgent threat of competition as much as they should.

Anyways I am going to enjoy Bloodrayne and Renegade Ops (picked that up here instead of Steam because of friends on Live) and I am thinking of picking up Shadow Planet. It's been a great Christmas sale for me personally, but I fully understand why those who bought the Summer of Arcade and aren't too interested in DLC would have liked to have seen some more standalone games on sale.

Now I am crossing my fingers for Shank and that list bit of DLC for Mass Effect 2, so I can finally do my insanity run, in the upcoming EA sale.
can i buy it on my wife's console then download it on mine where she can can play and i can play it as long as i'm on xbox live?
No, you cannot. You will have to buy the DLC twice.
No, you cannot. You will have to buy the DLC twice.
no you're actually wrong, i've done this many times, you get 2 licenses for dlc, one for the console one for the gamertag, shared many arcade games and dlc this way. Since I'm logged on to her xbox, i purchase it under my name, then anyone on that console can play it, when i download it on mine, since i own it I can play it as long as I'm signed into xbox live
"2.I don't know the official term, but can i buy it on my wife's console then download it on mine where she can can play and i can play it as long as i'm on xbox live?"
I'm not sure about download games, but the map pack is a yes for sure. I've done this with friends for every COD and Halo map pack through Black Ops. The first console gets to keep it permanently and content can be re-downloaded on any console to use on your personal account.

It probably would work, Arcade games get licenses like map packs so Games on Demand probably do to. Report back if you try it, it's worth a shot.

Well only bought Sonic 4 Episode One since CM on Xbox Live. Good. Now I can use more money to pay off the mortgage and still have points left over for Vudu and the occasional game....well maybe just one game lol.

I suppose that when you release the same game every year and it sells a billion copies every time, you don't have to put anything good on sale.

was really hoping for black ops maps, as that would've lead to me picking the game back up since I absolutely hated mw3 (didn't really like mw2 either though, mw1 was good but I've preferred treyarchs cods overall). i dont really get why they didnt include black ops maps, but oh well.

I missed Sonic 4 sale, been waiting for that one too:cry:, I got the LA Noire/RockStar pass though:cool:. Would have bit on that zombie map I'm missing also:roll:, well I still have some points from my 1600 gift card don't know what I'm going to do. Do rockband songs ever go on sale anymore?

I'm sure I'm not the first to ask, but how disappointed is everyone with this years sale? I remember the past couple of years I bought multiple games, even this year during the black friday sale I bought a couple! This is the first holiday sale since I got my xbox that I won't be buying anything.

To me, the daily deals started out strong and midway through became a bunch of re-hashes and crap I just didn't want.

I still think the holiday deals that last until next week are pretty good though.

They were dumb about the cod sale. Should have put BLOPS packs on sale since MW3 is already out. No reason not to discount the older title maps bc I'm sure it's the only way more than very few people will buy them now.

This is random but man, I've wanted Rocket Knight for so long, but at 1200 there's no way I'd bother with it. I bought the first one on the spur of the moment at KB Toys when I was like 7 or something, and I remember picking it out of the bargain bin for $10 and absolutely loving it. But in this day and age I'm not paying more for the new one then I did for the old one

Slightly off current topic, but still within the confines of the Holiday Sale. I got the Kinect bundle that came with Fruit Ninja for Christmas and am having an absolute blast with it. Totally disappointed that the DLC for Fruit Ninja wasn't on sale on Christmas as well. Does anyone think they will ever go on sale? I mean they're only $2 each so it could only be really discounted to a $1. Normally I'm a a pretty strict CAG, but I just may bite on all 3 of these instead of waiting.

P.S. Apparently these DLCs can only be bought from the inside the game menu (?) as they're not listed on Xbox.com or on the Dash.
Still disappointed I was unable to get the Gears of War Season Pass. Will there be any sales after the New Year?
No one knows for sure, but keep in mind the Gears 2 content was on sale multiple times.
Was this only on your console or through the website as well? I got that error last night, tries it on my laptop and was good to go.
I got an error on the PC as well, I have no idea what the problem is but I want to punch someone lol
No one knows for sure, but keep in mind the Gears 2 content was on sale multiple times.
Got rid of GOW2, I've literally didn't like GOW1 online and with each iteration I've liked them more and more.

Crossing my fingers for a surprise set of January Sales, although if they even did do any it'd probably be more like January Fails.
Crossing my fingers for a surprise set of January Sales, although if they even did do any it'd probably be more like January Fails.
lol, funny. I didn't think the sales were "bad", Bastion for 600 msp, along with Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (insane name), Gears DLC. Although I admit the cod sales were a let down.

Ok? All I was saying that if Gears 2 content has been on sale multiple times, there's a good chance 3's content will also be on sale again.
I loved the old Genesis/Mega Dive games. I sort of found the new one to be a bit soulless, with the transition from pixel art characters personality of the old games over to the new current angry (in the Kirby boxart sense) polygons. The enemy and collectable spacing feels quite separated. I would not know if there was "no following" from my perspective, because many I knew enjoyed the old games, they were advertised back then ("this one goes ballistic") and the sequel was multi-platform also on the SNES/SFC.

I do understand your mindset where the Xbox Live pricing is high, because I feel 1200MSP is asking quite a bit comparatively too. Being a Konami digital release of a beloved franchise, they sure did follow that theme with a non-sale price of XBLA titles at 1200MSP between Hard Corps Uprising, Castlevania: Harmony of Dispair, and Vandal Hearts. Konami digital releases of 800MSP tend to be of new franchises (Battle: Los Angeles, Leedmees, Zombie Apocalypse) or of series no one cared about (MLB Bobblehead Pros, Burgertime: World Tour, Rush N' Attack). The 400MSP or less club of Konami XBLA releases tend to be of old arcade games like Yie-Ar Kung Fu, Contra [I preferred the home versions over the arcade ones then], Frogger, and Gyruss. I assume the rule of thumb is the more you desire a Konami XBLA title, the more likely its base price will be higher; so the trick is to um ... not want it. Good news, Konami has worked with the Live team and had Hard Corps Uprising, Castlevania: Harmony of Dispair, and Vandal Hearts on Deal of the Week before (tho Vandal Hearts was at a time before 1200MSP games got discounted 50%, but instead to just 800MSP).
You know what needs to go on sale and for 400 or less? Raystorm! 1200 for it is freaking crazy man. I'm sure like 50 people paid for that price .... lol. I've been waiting forever for it to go on sale.

That game, you may even feel ripped off at 400MSP. The demo should be indicative of the whole purchase. The original game was on a 4:3 aspect ratio (non-tate, screen was left as-is not turned sideways), and they "HD" remade it by zooming in to the bottom a bit, then stretching the image wide to avoid the letterboxing, then cropping the top off. That makes a vertical shooting game (or STG, I hate the other term) which is already limited by being a non-tate-mode game almost unplayable. Imagine if your Gears game basically took the lower portion, where Marcus now fills up half your HD TV, it would make it difficult to play. Sure they did in theory smooth out some of the old textures, but the HD is not worth it. It would be better to hunt for the old PS(1) game and pop that in your PS3.

To keep this message deal related, I think for my New Years resolution, I will help this community. In March, I will buy, at full price, if my Microsoft Points have not been claimed by others sales, and if it hasn't gone on sale, the XBLA Soul Calibur so it will finally go on sale. This has happened to me before, I have literally purchased an app in iTunes, only to see it drop from $1 which it had been forever to free for the very first time one hour later. So I believe why you guys have not gotten what you wanted on Deal of the Week, is because they are waiting for me to break and buy the games at full price. I am on to you Xbox Live team, you win this round. Everyone can thank me then ^^.

i think the last unannounced sale was kinda different depending on your meaning of the word. there are some free games on taiwan marketplace and trials hd was on sale for one day only a long time ago.

I could almost swear it'd been on sale before, but sure enough, I don't own it... maybe not then?
