Xbox 2 Pic. and Specs

Thats actually pretty cool, i heard there is no "X2" on the top tho, which is fine by me. I hope its called Xbox 2, although i could live w/ Xbox Next. Nextbox is just stupid...its be foolish to break away from the "Xbox" name after its popularity

Having 3 CPUs plus a high end GPU will be very expensive. I wouldn't be supprised if the Xbox 2 has only one or two CPUs.

You don't get it its a single cpu with 3 cores.

2004 called. It wants its rumors back.

Actually the number of CPUs is a meaningless cost factor when the actual attributes of those processors is unknown Since the entire point of a multiprocessor design in a dedicated device like a game console would be to optimize highly parallelizable code (which graphics and many other game operations do quite well) so as to enable a collection of less expensive chips to do the work of a single high-end brute.

If you look at CPU price you'll see the prices drop sharply when you get a couple speed grades away from the current performance champ. So long as you have an application that lends itself to being coded for multiprocessing those chips can out perform a single top of the line CPU that would be the obvious winner in a one on one match.

So, three slower CPUs performing in unison can be very cost effective. The trick is making it be non-painful to program.

Oh I see. I was a little confused by that.

I really doubt it will look anything like that. I image that it will look like something that can displayed in every livingroom in America. Microsoft wants into every home, it doesn't want to scare anyone away.

the pic looks like a fan made it.

if that were a real prototype design from microsoft, i'd expect it to look waaaaaay more realistic.

I never said it was a real pic.... probably just a fan made thing on some picture editing program. But you gotta admit, that would look pretty damn cool, although there is no way that they could fit all those processors into that small thing. Not to mention the hard drive.
