Xbox 360 120GB HD $135 shipped at Amazon

Cheaper to buy the scorpio 120 gig from Newegg.com for $53 shipped, then just follow the tutorial posted on YouTube. You do need an HDD shell but if you've already got a 20 gig, you're good.

I have been thinking about this too. But it involves getting a HDD key from a 120GB. Couldn't MS check for DUPE id codes and ban everyone?

this is what i need! thanks!

can you post more information on this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136045is that the harddrive your talking about? and how does this effect the warranty?

Yeah..you more or less need a real 120gb 360 harddrive to get the unique file to make your cheap $53 one >.>

If you're evil enough to buy a used one from Gamestop then damage it and return it; little farther than I'm willing to go even if I loathe GS.

Not a bad deal, but there are cheaper options out there.

Not if you want it new ATM.

This has actually been this price for quite a while. I bought mine last week at this price along with some headphones.

If you can find a GS near you that has a used one in stock you could get it for $80 after the "eternal" 10% off plus your EDGE discount (assuming you have an EDGE card). Thats what I just did. They are reformatted/refurbished and have a 30 day guarantee.

None in stock around here, and EDGE won't work online with the HDD.

I have two 20s, and see ebay has them for $40-50 a pop (why?!)
A new HDD would come with a transfer kit, going for $30-40 on eBay (modding?)

Worst, $40+40+30=110
Best, $50+50+40 =140 and I come out ahead.

Not bad, but still not cheap enough for me I could kick myself for not picking up one of these when they were down to about $85 at Circuit City a couple months back.

I don't think I ever heard of anyone getting banned for it, yet. I do know the process involves taking the hddss.bin file from your original hdd and putting it in the new one. I think that's what you're talking about.

True. I read it over, and it seems that part of the process is just for back up.

Still, the hack has been around for nearly 2 years now, and as I mentioned before, I haven't heard of anyone getting banned for it, yet.

Got mine on ebay for $90 shipped before xmas. Then sold my 20 gig hdd for $35 shipped on a private forum.
A 120 gig hdd for $55, not bad, not bad at all.

Is there any point in having two 120 GB drives? For example, use one as a backup, or split your installed games between them?

I don't even know if either of the above scenarios would work. Is the new 120 GB drive completely blank, so the only way you can use it is by using the transfer kit first, rendering your original hard drive unusable?
I would rather not have to switch back and forth. And, as time goes on I doubt 2 HDDs will hold up.
Yeah, the more I thought about it, the more I thought, "nah, I won't really do that" (swap them back and forth). And leaving a memory unit plugged in all the time (with my profile on it) would ruin my 360's sleek black looks :).

Hmmm... Released on April 17, 2007. Wonder if they'll be releasing a larger version soon? Anybody have any speculation there? I'm going to hold out with my miniscule 20 GB for now. That's just too rich for my blood. Would love to get one of these for $75 when/if a 320gb version comes out...
