Not too much work if you're tech savvy or have built your own computer before. For me flashing firmware is business as usual so saving $50-60 bucks was totally worth it.
I agree though, it's a good price if you don't know your way around DOS and Firmware Utilities.

True, they have not banned anyone. I doubt they will since M$ has their hands full trying to crack down on those that are actually hacking games and flashing their DVD drives to play burned disks.
You can still play Xbox 1 games if you copy the 2nd partition from your old HD if you are using a Gen 1 360. I'm pretty sure that the Xbox slim 4gb has the backwards compatibility built into the 4gb internal memory.
