Xbox 360 bundle packages coming in October - Elite & Premium confirmed @ BB.
They're probably hoping to sell through most of those before the bundle comes out, and the bundle will be a limited time thing, so they can just sell them for the current MSRP down the road after the bundles are all sold out and people have no choice.

Same thing happened with the Sega GT/Jet Set Radio bundle of the original X-box. Went for same price as the console, and the console only stayed the same both while it was out, and after it was sold through.

The bundle is just to spike holiday sales some.
well we'll have to see. according to Dean Takahashi, whos been right more than wrong in the past; the 65nms were getting ready to be shipped to the US back at the end of Aug. the Halo 3 editions were made in July i believe (correct me if i'm wrong) & arrived at stores a couple weeks before halo 3s launch. so if the supply chain is steady that means that, barring unforseen circumstances, the Oct timeframe should theoretically be in line w/ when the 65nms should arrive given Takahashi's take on the assembly timeframe.
I haven't seen anything about a color change, so that might be the case. The old thread (mentioned in the first page of this one) might've shown a picture of it, though everyone though it was a bad Photoshop job.
yea it does look like a bad photochop, it just seemed to fit w/ the story so im just making an assumption.

65NMs shouldn't have any impact on whether the bundle and non-bundle 360s are priced differently though.

If they spur a price drop, I'd expect both to get it. The whole point of bundles is that the can advertise free games included. If the bundle costs more than the system alone, then they can't market it that way.

Ah, you just threw me given the post of mine you quoted was talking about the potential different prices brought up by the other guy. :D

As for store incentives, again I don't recall any on the non-bundle systems last gen when the Sega GT/JSRF bundle was out. Don't think the stores much cared which they sold.
The question now (besides the chip set) is going to be what version of M:UA are we getting? Oh also will the Live Arcade disc also be available for sale on the cheap elsewhere?
Expect that disc, along with MUA & Forza 2, to be traded-in everywhere once the bundle hits.
They should just get rid of the two games and drop the systems 50 more bucks.
I'd be all over that.

* New Xbox Core Sku "at the end of October" that will include a new version of the system with an HDMI port, wireless controller, 256MB memory card, and five arcade games on a physical disc. The games will be Boom-Boom Rocket, Pac-man, Uno, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2. This package is expected to retail for the normal Core price of $279.99.

They should lower itt a little more just to really get in Nintendo's face.

Rumors around that there is 65nms in the wild, of course not confirmed. Who is to say that the current stock has not been going down? And that MS has been stock piling the 65nm 360s? Or at least, started the 65nm production awhile ago? I can not wait to grab one of these, but I may wait for Black Friday, since it really is not that far off, for a good deal.

Official Press Release

Hot on the heels of a price reduction for all Xbox 360 consoles, Microsoft is now giving holiday buyers even more value by including two great games with every Xbox 360 console and Xbox 360 Elite, a retail savings of $90 for consumers. The acclaimed “Forza Motorsport 2” (Microsoft Game Studios) and “Marvel Ultimate Alliance” (Activision) will both be included for the recently reduced prices of $349.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 and $449.99 (U.S.) for Xbox 360 Elite. Both bundles will be available retail-wide by the end of October.

Nice. $350 360 with 2 games VS. $400 Gimped PS3 with no BC and Spider-Man 3 Movie. Wow, wonder what kids will want (Well, the Wii...but second!)?

But no official date. I really hope the Premium one comes this week, otherwise it's throwing a wrench in my plans. :(
so if you buy a system within a month, can you exchange for this bundle later? Does BB have some kind of upgrade policy?
When I went to replace my broken 360 (first time) they wouldn't even let me get the bundle with the old Madden. They made me dig around through the pile until I could finally find one without a bundled game.

Wow, I'll have to get one of those XBLA Game disks packaged with the cores! And It's looking like i'm going to buy an elite even though I have a 360 already. (120 gig HDD and a DVD Drive that opens and closes = Win)

For what it's worth:

I just checked out BestBuy and Circuit City around here. Both were totally out of Premiums. BestBuy said they expect to get some more on Friday, and the guys seemed optimistic that they'd be the bundles. Circuit City, I was lucky to get the girl to know what I was asking for, but eventually one of them said that they have a truck coming Friday as well.

It's entirely possible, though I'm not getting too optimistic, that they sent the bundles out of the warehouses on the 9th and they'll be on the shelves Friday. They got me to hold off for now, but if they don't have them by then I'm just saying screw it.

Hopefully they'll still have The Orange Box. They were just stocking them when I got there.

Today at work (GS) we got an e-mail saying that we are changing all remaining stock of Premiums and Elites into these bundles, starting this friday (10/12).

From then on all Premiums and Elites we get in will be pre-bundled.

Woot! Corroborating evidence! I know what I'm doing Friday now.

Costco only had the Halo 3 SE console packs yesterday, and they didn't have any 360's two weeks earlier when I was in there.

I'm hoping that they have the reg consoles after this coming week, because I don't want my only choice on a swap of my loud POS to be a Halo 3 SE console.

Finally took the plunge with the insane deal posted in the Deals forum with the premium bundle, plus Orange Box, Bioshock and Two Worlds for $399.99.
