xbox 360 controller with source??

I bought day of defeat: source and I can't seem to control the look up and down functions with my xbox 360 controller... when i try to configuree it in the keyboard section, it registers fine, but it doesn't work in game... left and right works well however...


I thought google was a friend, but she didn't tell me squat... I tried to follow these guides

but was unsuccessful... the main thing that these guides contain that my game doesn't is the "joystick look" button. My game has an enable gamepad, and swap sticks on dual stick controller buttons, but they don't help.

hmm... tried this already, as shown in my first two links... but i'm gonna try harder and see.

The main problem I'm having is using the right stick for looking. I can configure it just fine in the menu, but when i try to look up or down, it doesn't work.

yea man, i tried everything... can't get it to work. I could use xpadder or something, but really rather not to... anyone have any other suggestions?

Don't know what to tell you other than to just practice using keyboard & mouse. You will like it more in the long run.

Ahhh... the whole point was to replace my 360 with good cheap games as well as free online service. I don't think that I could ever conform.

try using xpadder i had a source mod that wasnt cooperating (in a similar way to dod for you) and xpadder made it playable with the joypad. And despite what the keyboard mouse elitists tell you, you will be able to hang in there; you probably wont get first but you wont get completely annihilated either. I can only use a controller because of a hand surgery i had when i was younger and I play tf2 and I am usually in the upper 3rd each game.
