I don't know if I should preorder now or not. Sders are all ready buying them up to resell and I haven't decided if I really want one yet. Maybe I'll hold out for a GS pre order...Can the resell value be worth it on these? Damn it SD!
The elite isn't limited and the elite doesn't ship with the 65nm chip till Fall. Wait and get the good version.
Is this confirmed? Will the Elite with 65nm chip be black?

I don't see these selling out. I hope these people get stuck with them. If it were Christmas time I could believe it but not in spring.

It's set for spring release? I thought it was late fall and very close to the time Halo 3 is set to be released. There is no way it will have the 65nm chipset if it's out in spring.

Microsolft, limited? Yeah , right. They will sell as many as they can and them some. This will be as limited as Halo 2 LE, which MS made like a zillion copies.

I do want this though, it will go good with the PS3.

The 65nm definitely won't be in the first Elites, but systems manufactured after the new chip is complete (in the fall) will use it.

I agree that $180 is stupid for a 120 GB hard drive. Thankfully, we are CAGers and the most we'd have to pay would be $140 at Circuit City.

Still, you can already use a certain kind of PC hard drive with the 360 as a 20 GB hard drive (see xbox-scene.com) but the hacker responsible doesn't know if we'll be able to use the full 120 GB with PC hard drives yet.

The elite is coming out April 29th without the 65nm chipset.
I feel stupid for asking but what are SDers/FWers?
People who need to get punched in the face!

This sucks, it means I have to buy a new console because it's new, and black, and new, and cool, and 120 gigs, HDMI, $200 trade in, $179 HD, fuck!

Buy the Elite for $480 and then sell the 120gb hd to someone for $180 and you got an hdmi core 360 with wireless controller, headset and component cables, etc for $300.

sweet, now I have a black 'tard pack and can't save. The smart thing to do now is to get the cheaper 20 gb HD and I get it for $400 and get a total savings of $0.
HD-DVD playbck willmax out at 1080i over component, FYI.

HDMI and VGA are the only ways to get 1080p playback through your 360.
Don't believe me? read this: " http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/09/21/xbox-360-hd-dvd-playback-maximum-1080i-via-component-1080p-vga/ "
and? your point?

i love how people think 1080p is any different for 1080i for movies.

its film. aka 24FPS. 1080i will display as 1080p easily w/ a pulldown on virtually any 1080p HDTV

http://hometheatermag.com/gearworks/1106gear

the only advantage HDMI has for 1080p is when there's 60FPS and youll never see that w/ a movie. or w/ any game this generation (360 or PS3). they just dont have that kinda power yet. granted you could display at that resolution, but you would have to tone down all the other graphics.

drawing a triangle in 1080p is easy. drawing billions of them isnt.
But watch...it may just sell like hotcakes. People will love it in black, and if they think it's "limited" they will gobble it up. Plus it's called "elite" (oooooh....aaaahhhhh!!!) so people will think it is worth the extra $80 above the Premium.

Hopefully MS will couple this with say, Halo 3 for $500 or put it out around the release of Halo 3, so it will move. I've waited this long for an X360, but I will definitely wait longer until the 65 nm chips are in, a quieter drive is in, more reliability/less red ring of death, etc. Also a price drop or Halo 3 combo, or other deal.
there's no doubt the new BenQ quiet DVD drive will be in the elite. theyve been putting them in the premiums for 5 months now.

65nm isnt though. i was disappointed to hear that. but 65nm was supposed to already be out, they pushed it back to summer.

i really doubt the elite will even last to the end of summer. probably the end of june is when they'll stop shipping them out. and introduce it as the premium again in white plastics. w the old premium dropping $50-100.

who's going to buy a used one for $180 when they get a new warrantied one for that much?

maybe $120

and sell the old 360 for $250, move over the 20GB drive

so that makes it $110 to upgrade to HDMI
People who need to get punched in the face!
lol

oh yeah, Sabres are going all the way.

SDer = Slickdealer
FWer = Fatwalleter

Slickdeals and Fatwallet are deal sites for everything, not just games. Never sure why CAG always has so much hate for them, as both are indifferent to each other and CAG.

Shhh... I mentioned that in this thread earlier - but I don't see that post anymore (might be 'cause I mentioned the name of the app).

Still, they're probably going with the WD 120Gb drive (like they did with the 20Gb drive) - the bare HD retails online for less than $80 - I'd much rather crack the 20 open and replace it with the 120 than pay $180 for the 'official' version.

Good info.

What a stupid thing to say. Grow up. Like the last guy said. They are indifferent to CAG and each other. Why pick a fight? You just make all CAG's look immature and bad.

buying a 360 w/o the 65nm chip at this point seems like a risk not worth taking

80% of the people I know w/ a 360 have had at LEAST 1 red ring of death episode and 95% of them complain about the noise the console makes

I know this is off topic..LOL I made this years ago   glad to see its still getting around.

Has anyone read anything more about the specs on the Elite?

I would like to know if it's capable of doing "dual" output via the existing AV connector and the HDMI simultaneously. I'm not asking for the purposes of getting dual monitors going, but rather because, my current home theater setup does not include an HDMI-capable receiver. So, in order to use the HDMI video output, I'm forced to use the HDMI-Audio.

The simple solution is for me to shell out $500 for a new HDMI-capable receiver. Great...now my cost of an upgrade went from $480 to $980. Nice.

Sorry, Microsoft, if this was your attempt to match the PS3 feature set, you've failed miserably. (And BTW, I'm a huge 360 fan, but am willing to admit that the PS3 is better piece of hardware...it's just lacking in the software and online departments.)

I may be misunderstanding your situation, but according to Major Nelson's podcast, the Elite will come with an audio only cable that plugs into the existing AV port on the 360. So you should be able to use HDMI for video and still use regular TOSLINK for the audio.

Well, thank the gods for that. :)

Now if I can only convince someone to offer the Elite in white (am I the only one that likes the white better?).
