My console just got the RROD and it's out of the warranty period. It sucks but at least there was a price drop on the elite and I could use the HDMI port and bigger HD.

Are there any deals anywhere where I could get it for a bit cheaper. I was just going to buy it off Amazon but I figured I'd check here first.
 
Did you call and check? The warranty for RROD is like 3 years. I just sent my system back for RROD and I got my system in 2005.
 
I think there is still a %15 off code floating around for dell.com, but not sure. Also not sure if it's the fall elites.

thanks guys! i think i'll buy it there off of there. any idea when the deal ends? it says 10/31 for the coupon but i want to get the $30 off too.
 
Unless I was doing something wrong, it doesn't look like the $30 off and the 15% off stack. When I tried it it was deleting the $30 and only allowing the 15%. If anyone can get them to stack, let us know, MS also announced a $50 rebate today on the elite.
 
You can only do one or the other, I think 15% ends up being a better deal. I would still send in your system to get fixed like another member has mentioned. Also, you do know ALL 360 models have an HDMI port right? I bought mine when it was 20gb and it has an HDMI port, all of them sold have HDMI's now so you can get an arcade and use your hard drive or something.
 
Thanks for all the info guys -- I just got my 2nd RRoD last night and figured it was time to give MS more business. (Yeah, I know, I'm brainwashed like so many others.) My 360 is the original without the HDMI port, so figured I might as well upgrade - with the 15% and $50 rebate, the Elite comes out to about the same price as the Arcade... so thanks!

Just put in the order with Dell and noticed that they had 2nd day shipping for free.
 
I'd rather have the $50 than Lego Batman and Pure, since I got Pure for $10 at BB and could easily get Lego Batman for $20 if I wanted it, which I don't.
