Xbox 360 Elites in stock @ Best Buy B&M as well as $9.99 games (YMMV of course)

VWarrior

CAGiversary!
I went in earlier without even expecting to see any nor was I even looking for one. I just went to buy a MP3 player for my mom, went to the game section to look around and there they were. Cores, Premiums and Elites all fresh in stock, an equal amount of each SKU on the shelf.

Also, while in line I noticed a number of games for $9.99.

Some notables are:

Tales of Symphonia (GCN)
King Kong (PS2)
SOCOM 3 (PS2)
and many others including PSP and DS games (I don't remember them all).

This may indeed be their July 8th sale put on shelves early. BTW, I recommend purchasing a warranty along with it given their track record (I bought a 2yr).

I recommend not spending $70 for a warranty and just using MS's 1-yr and a credit card that adds a year to the manufacturer warranty, i.e. AmEx

I believe the gamer term for this is "p0wnage". ;-)

Unless i'm mistaken, Microsoft will possibly replace your console with another refurbished one. A retailer warranty such as the one I have grants you a brand new one.

Whatever. Do what you want.

Don't mean to stear the thread in a dif. direction, but this is the first I've heard of this. How does using a credit card nab you an extra year on top of MS's 1 year (I have an AmEx if that is needed btw)

some credit cards double the warrenty. BUT you have to go though your credit card company if something happens in that 2nd year. Its best to call up your credit card company and make sure you get this before thinking u do

The Best Buy warranties can be nice since you can just swap out the older version of a product for a newer one. Did that when I brought in my original PS2 and traded it for the one with the online pack. Although with the Elite having just come out, I don't see what you'd potentially upgrade to within 2 years.

Microsoft will soon be manufacturing a the consoles with a new chipset that is supposed to be much much more reliable than the hardware that has been shipping by Christmas time. The Elites are supposed to be a bit more reliable than the other two SKUs given their better heatsinks but i'm pretty sure the new chipset will be manufactured in all 3 SKUs making them all even more reliable.
