I just ran across this post over on SlickDeals and was curious if anyone could weigh in on the risk and/or feasibility of this deal. Thanks for your input!

Before everyone starts to give me the thumbs down, hear me out here.

a Site that sell Defective items has Xbox 360's tht have 3 flashing red lights for $119. I bought 2 of these a month ago. They came in and I called 1-800-4-my-xbox and told them they had 3 flashing red lights, they said no problem and gave me the 3 year warranty.

They had been regisitered already so I told them I bought them on eBay. He was cool with it and changed the info over to me. I did not have to fax a receipt or anything.

I imagine it is becuase of this.
Press Release

It did take several weeks to get it back, but it came with 1 month of Live for free in it.
You can buy accessories online and make it a premium for around $200.00

This is YMMV, but I have done it twice and actually just bought a few more to sell on eBay when they come back.

Deal or no deal? This is no deal! It will, however, probably work. I still say this should be under discussions, not deals.

I would say this is NO deal. It says it's defective. It does not say on the site you will get a system with 3 red lights. My guess is you could get a system that is totally junk.

if you buy a core system, you're not really buying an xbox 360.
to quote penny arcade, you get the xbox 3-shitty.

now:
"You can buy accessories online and make it a premium for around $200.00"

200 + 119 + s&h = probably not that much saved
coupled with the fact that premium bundles now come with two free games (marvel UA and forza2)?

this is not a deal
please make it go away

Nice observation. It's too risky.

Um, actually:

Product details:

3 Flashing Red Lights. UNIT ONLY. The warranty Seal has not been broken.

But did they mean that it would be a extra $200 to make it a premium or did they mean you could make it a premium for $200 total?

if you can find a 20 GB Hard Drive and a wireless controller for a combined $80... let me know. (To bring the total cost up to $200 for the system/other premium stuff).
