Xbox 360 Game Install Sizes and Loading Times: 900+ games! (Celebrating 5+ years!)
Already on the list but thank you for posting. I'm currently looking for anyone that has a 360 game starting with 'Y' or 'Z' so that we can complete the alphabet :D
Looks like Your In the Movies! and Zoids Assault. Both which are out (YITM came out this week). I know a few CAGs have Zoids but I can't find their gamertag anymore.

Thanks for finding the titles. I JUST remembered Zoids a few minutes after posting. hopefully people see this and post the install size. We have OVER half of the 360's game library listed (554 games including N.A., Eur., and Japan) though this list contains 99% N.A releases.

If anybody's wondering if NCAA Football 09's ridiculous load times to get to the main menu ae fixed by installs, they're not shortened at all. I'm guessing the developers force the game to try to connect to the EA servers every time, which it fails 99.9% of the time when it times out.

Quick question about installed games. If you have a game installed do you have to hit Y and then click on play from Hard Drive, or will it load the game from the hard drive if it's installed when clicking on the game on the main menu?

It automatically runs from the Hard Drive. Now, I'm not sure if you can do that vice versa (you have it installed on hard drive but want it run normally -- not sure why you'd want to do that, but still).

Is anyone installing games on a 20GB drive and then deleting the data when they are done with the game? I'm wondering if it's worth doing the one installed game on my HDD and then deleting/switching installed game information when I move onto a new game for awhile.

If all you have is a 20GB HDD then that's really your only current option. But i would see no problem with installing a game (or two), beating said game, deleting it, and then installing a new game.

I designate days when I play offline or online so I don't have to do it often. And even if I did, it's still worth it since it only takes 15 minutes at most, enough time to give your eyes a break.
I feel really, really bad for you.
Thank God for Gamefly.

It's honestly not all that bad though, no where near what reviewers have been giving it, it's pretty much a more basic GH, with some great covers, and also some horrible covers.

Not terrible, not great.

When you install a game to the hard drive, how do you handle multiple disk games? I have lost odyssey and the list says around 20 gig. Do you install one disk at a time or all at once? I ask because I got a 20 gig drive I'll be using once I get an xbox.

You can install one disc at a time. Probably best to install two discs if you can that way when you have to switch over to another disc, you don't have to back out to the dashboard. But you're presented a save point before switching over so it's not that big of a deal.

Thanks. I guess my 20 gig drive will be enough since I usually only play one game at a time.

Honestly, i have a 120GB drive and i only have about 4 games installed, one of which i'll be uninstalling soon. 20 GB should be plenty for 1 or 2 games if you don't have a lot of DLC/demos.

Just an FYI to the OP , GiantBomb seems to be putting the install sizes in their reviews .
The install size was listed at the end of the Banjo review I read over .

Nice. That should help with newer games. I wonder if we should start a wiki since we have the best list so far...
the show spoiler thing is really a pain in the ass
Having 259 games to scroll through in the first post is as well ;)

EDIT: keep in mind this is more for reference than browsing. The way it is setup now, people can go to the letter, show spoiler, and bam, set. No scrolling, nothing.
Isn't there a text limit on posts? If so, how close are you to said limit?
I've been trying to figure that out myself...i checked the FAQ and nothing.
It's 10,000 characters, I believe.
If you include code, my post has 13,151 characters according to MS Word.
the show spoiler thing is really a pain in the ass
Added the complete (non spoiler-ed) list to the bottom of the first post. Also, there are over 25,000 characters in the post according to MS Word...go me :D

"Sonic the Hedgehog" is in the wrong place. You need to move it down a couple of rows. Also, my Need For Speed Undercover install is 5.1, not 5.0. I wonder if different systems have different install sizes, maybe based on how fragmented the drive is? For the record, if anyone is curious, the install on NFS:U (the only install I've done so far) makes a HUGE difference in load times. Certainly worth it, in that case at least.

Thanks. I corrected Sonic The Hedgehog's location and i changed the install size of Undercover to 5.1GB. Better to over state the install size.

i had installed several games on my elite last week, then it RRoDed. i borrowed a different console today, and it said that i could only play installed games on the original hard drive and console i installed the game on. i would have to delete the installation and reinstall on this console. LAME!

honestly, i dont see the point, because you still need the disc.

Maybe it's 100k then. I ran into it once, but I can't remember the exact number except for having a one and some zeros.

Can you fudging read?
this is a suggestion, you should collect loading times vs installed and not installed. slowly of course :p
So how would people want to see this implemented? Seconds Faster as in how many seconds are shaved off loading? %? An average of say 3 comparisons?

Personally, i prefer the Green/Red highlighting to indicate if a game loads faster or slower. The example i used a few pages back;

AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack.......[3.4GB]

Ace Combat 6...........................[6.4GB]

read what? first post is a giant list. link please?

what i meant was i moved my old hd with all the installs to a new console. it said i would have to reinstall the game to play from hd, despite all the SAME data already being on the hd. i KNOW that i still need the disc to play.
...and suddenly the thread went quiet.
With 259 games reported...not much to talk about :) This was meant to be a reference post rather than one of discussion. I would however like everyone to report details on which games load faster when installed. I'll slowly start to update the list with Green and Red to indicate faster/slower.

Here's a few more for the list:

Call Of Juarez - 6.2GB
FIFA Street 3 - 6.6GB
Blazing Angels 2 - 6.4GB
Blitz: The League 2 - 6.8GB
The Godfather - 6.1GB
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 5.3GB
Need For Speed: Pro Street - 5.5GB
Guilty Gear 2: Overture - 5.4GB
Hour of Victory - 4.9GB
Quake 2 - cannot be installed

This should now bring the list to around 272. BTW, ever think about putting this list on WikiPedia?
Thanks for the updates guys, we're up to 262 games :)
Little did you know you were creating a monster lol!

I don't blame you. According to xbox.com there are 966 titles they have listed there for the 360, though that includes original Xbox titles and Xbox Live Arcade titles as well. If WikiPedia is right, there are 478 original Xbox titles that are compatible with the 360. I'm estimating around 200 Xbox Live Arcade titles there too, leaving you with roughly less than 300 Xbox 360 titles (to date) to chronicle. Since some European Titles and some Japanese titles will eventually make it to the list, that could push it over 300 before the end of the year.

In less than a month, you've got a huge chunk of titles already tested for size. Considering that all of the games I have are already in this list, I'll try to add some of the missing games to my Gamefly queue so we can complete this list ASAP.

While that would be greatly appreciated, try to use your Gamefly account for games you want to play :)
