That device would work with the PS3 and I am eager to see how much it'll cost.

This is an EXTREME YMMV but you can MAYBE find these at a GameStop for $8. I got mine "used" but in brand new perfect condition for $6.65. Using it for my TV, stereo, PS2, XBOX, and 360. Thing is awesome, not sure if it's worth $50 though.

That means they treat it as any old 360 remote. I almost feel bad for whoever traded it in.

I sort of wanted to hold out for one of the rechargeable ones (720 and up I guess), but I'd be willing to bite it if I see it for $50 or less. I'll check around the local BBs

Yep they do. I worked at that GameStop so I got 25% off thanks to Emp+EDGE. The guy was trading in stolen stuff but we couldn't prove it...

Thanks for pointing out that they treat these as regular 360 remotes at GS. Obviously, like you said, extremely rare, but I'll keep my eyes out, now.

I got one at gamestop also for like 6 bucks after coupon. I used it for a bit until I figured out online that i could use my harmony 1100 that i got a couple weeks ago works with my 360. Might try to trade someone on craigslist for a game or something for it.
Logitech is making an adapter for the PS3 that allows Harmony remotes to work with it.

I imagine this one would work as well. I don't KNOW that, but all Harmony remotes are essentially the same thing, aye?

Just a heads up.
I'd be interested if it came out at less than $50, which seems unlikely since other IR to Bluetooth converters are well over $100. I currently use the $20 Nyko BluWave remote receiver with my PS3 and Harmony. It works quite well. The only thing it can't do, obviously, is turn the system on or off. It also takes up one USB port, but my PS3 is a launch model so it's not like I don't have three others to spare. It requires some manual configuration, but Logitech's software makes it pretty easy. Once you're done, it's set it and forget it.

i have been using my harmony with ps3 for a while now using an ir to bluetooth that uses the insides of the official blu ray remote, $50 for the 360 is a great deal, i also have the harmony 520 which looks like the 360 harmony but in silver. The 520's build quality does not even begin to compare to the 360 harmony, they are crap.

You can't turn the PS3 off by programming the remote with the PS button. Then press and hold the PS button. Select turn system off. Kinda clunky but that is hold Sony likes to run things.

my adapter has the turn off sequence built in, i just press off and it does it by itself

Finding this for 6 bucks is insane, that would be a killer deal. For 50 I think I might jump since it would cover my 360, PS3, receiver and TV and I don't have a great enough set up to warrant a more expensive remote.

Great remote. I paid $75 for mine around 2 years ago and haven't regretted it all. Makes using the home theater system idiot proof. More convenient for me, and usuable for friends and family who visit who had to ask me how to do everything before with my old manual universal remote.

I use it for my, TV, 360, Receiver, HD Cable box and Blu Ray player.

I got the Harmony 520, and I agree it is pretty crappy. The remote is not responsive and the signals take awhile to register for some reason. Also the feel of the remote is pretty cheap.

But hos is the Xbox 360 remote compared to the Harmony 550? My friend has a 550 and it's pretty good. You can occassionally find it on sale for $50. It can also control the Xbox, but I think you need to program it manually first.

This was in stock at the BB in Eden Prairie, MN but they were still $89.99 so I didn't pick one up. I also called both nearby Gamestops and neither had the Logitech remote in stock.

Pretty much identical. The 360 remote is the 550 in a different color and with 4 more buttons (X,Y, B, A).

and way better build, when you press a freaking button on the 520 the things makes this creaking noise like its about to fall apart, and it's not the one I own because my dad has one as well and its just as crappy. the 360 one has more weight to it.

Well fellow CAGers I'm reporting in to unfortunately say that the closest one that MIGHT have one in stock in the Inland Empire is the Riverside, CA Best Buy that is off of Tyler Ave.

However I have something great to add in case you can't find the 360 remote.

After getting the employees to look through their stock I found the Logitech Harmony 550 for $50!!!

In case no one believes me or requires proof (which seems to happen often since some deals seem unbelievable) I have included a scan of my receipt AND a pic of the remote IN MY HOUSE!

I'll try it out this weekend and leave my thoughts in it in the appropriate place :D

:D

Wait, what? The 550 is functionally identical to the 520. It just has a few extra buttons (I believe 2, an A and B button) and has a better build quality. You've just set your remote up poorly.

The 550 is nice... I have that one, which I got from Amazon for $49.99 eons ago.

I'd like the 360 specific one, because the 4 additional buttons would make navigating the menus easier, but it's not wrth the $50 upgrade for me.

true, very true in regards to the buttons but for me at least it was there and I couldn't pass it up. It was either drive another 10 something Miles for a maybe or pick that up right then and there...so far I've been happy with it :D

I picked one up as well and had problems because I have an older HDTV. Tech support reprogrammed it over the phone, I downloaded the new update and now it works like a charm.

Now hopefully the PS3 adapter will be cheap.

Ugh. There's only one store in STL that has this remote--and I'm not even sure it's on clearance. I'm going to call tomorrow to see if if it is.

If it's not, any kind soul willing to pick me up one? I can pay by check or PayPal. :D I'll let you guys n gals know tomorrow what I find out!

Amazon's "Deal" of the Day is a REFURB Harmony 550 for $45. Not much of a deal IMO when they've repeatedly had a new 550 for $50, and even Best Buy has had new 550s for $50 ($45 AC) - but there it is.

I have limited experience with the Harmony 360 but it seems to work OK and looks cool. OTOH, some buttons are less than ergonomic (difficult to press), and if you move so much as a muscle it lights up.

looking at the remotes now I have to ask...does anyone have any experience with both of these? Would hunting down the 360 version be worth it versus having the 550? The big differences I see are this:

Green light vs Blue light

White casing vs Black casing

15 devices vs 12 devices

360 buttons vs "misc" buttons.

I mean granted the software lets you map the buttons but still would there be a HUGE difference or is it just aesthetics at this point?

Yeah i have a xbox harmoney remote that i got a long time ago for $30 from sears. Its not bad able to easily sync up with alot of devices. The only problem i have is when i use it for the 360 it keeps turning on my laptop because its a media pc.

I agree it's functionally identical. I do have my 520 set up the way I like. I'm just saying the feel of the remote is cheap. Also, I don't like the positioning of the PREV button on the 520 compared to the 550 and the 360 remote.

Anyways, I asked a BB employee to look up the price of the remote in the stores in the north Chicagoland area. MOST were at $49.99, including the store I was at. Therefore, I picked it up. Thanks CAG!
To those the bought the remote at $50.00, was it the last one in stock?
No, they had 4 left after the one I picked up.
