XBOX 360 HDDVD PLAYER $154.27 + sh

I think that is the best deal going so far. I don't have an HDTV (yet) but I just may have to bite. Has anyone used the site before?

Even though I have the player, I'd wait until there's another $199 + fs on one of the Toshibas. They pop up every few weeks or so.

Pretty good deal for now, but I might wait another couple of weeks if I were you. Rumor is there is gonna be another price drop to $150.
Provantage is fine, pretty low prices (on many things the lowest), high shipping.
i am debating if i should jump on this ...but i have a feeling that by the end of the year ,the price will drop even more:whistle2:k
Picked a player up at Best Buy for 149.99 2 days ago.
I did too, but that deal wasn't alive 12 hours. I normally miss those.

And many people got them at Sam's on clearance much cheaper than this.

And people still have the YMMV option at CC with the $40 off $200 coupon (throw in a HD DVD).

I'm still grumbling about the Elite not having a HD-DVD player built-in. This format needs a jumpstart because it's going to be dead by the end of the year at this rate.
Try checking your local wal-mart. The price on the shelf was $169.
Yes, can verify this at my Wal-Mart.

Provantage is excellent!! They ship fast and there returns are easy too. 5 stars!

I was lucky enough to pick up the $150 BB deal. Personally, im not going to buy any HD-DVDs until I know what format wins (if any). Netflix here i come.

I don't think "The Perfect Offer" (not really...those aren't exactly stellar choices to choose the five titles from, which would explain why they're effectively FREE) works with this, as the PDF states that the buyer of the HD-DVD add-on needs the "original or copy of cash register receipt". I don't know...can anyone confirm that any sort of receipt shipped with the packaging would suffice?

If it does, lackluster choices or not, I'd be very tempted to 'jump in' at this pricepoint, as $180 is still about $25-$30 higher than my personal 'tipping point'.

P.S. Worst-case scenario, how long before the HD-DVD experiment is over? I've already conceded that Blu-Ray will win sooner or/than later, but could we really see the format dead within the next twelve months, pending releases completely scrapped? And if it dies quickly, will we see affordably-priced combo-format players down the line? What a fucking mess. Thanks, warring formats!!
Good deal if you don't mind only having one exclusive studio for your movies. :)
Here we go with this shit again.

Let's keep this to the deal and not a "blu ray vs hd" thing.

You can thank Sony for overpricing the format players. HD-DVD players were always closer to the consumer affordable side.

That's why I won't be buying a Blu-Ray player until it's in the $100-$200 range, which will never happen. Basically, I will never buy a Blu-Ray player.

Weird, I stumbled across this on Saturday evening, ordered one. Totally did not think of posting here about it. I have been on the fence about grabbing one of these, the recent price drop and the five free deal, plus this extra discount, kind of pushed me over the edge.

I also picked up two 12 month Live cards for $35, they have since raised the price of those, though they are still a decent deal at $42 or whatever.

Shipping was a bit steep, I think all told I paid $15, and it jumped a lot for two tiny cards. According to UPS I should have this tomorrow or Thursday.

Does anyone know if all the 360 HD DVD drives still come with the remote and King Kong? Not a huge deal breaker but I would buy it from Walmart to get the extras. I call provantages toll free number and the lady could not tell me what came in the box. Even amazon.com no longer mentions it in the item description. Xbox.com suprisingly shows what looks like a different boc (no pict of king kong or remote) but they still promote the bundle at the bottom of the page.

Mine came today, it came with the remote and King Kong. Never thought I would say this... but DVD sucks in comparison now.

Thanks for the info... I got impatient and blew about 30 in gamestop credit to pick one up for $167. Haven't cracked it open but if the xbox 360 HD downloads are any indication, I will be smiling all year long. (I can't find 300 on HD DVD anywhere. Plenty of Blu-rays but no HD DVDs.)

Always order from Amazon.

My problem isn't with finding the movie, it's just that all those combo discs are $35.
