Today at X05, Microsoft unveiled an incredible lineup of games for the Xbox 360 as it gears up for launch on November 22nd.

A series of special guests, including Cliff Bleszinski, lead designer for Epic Games Inc., Todd Hollenshead, co-owner and CEO of id Software Inc., and Gerhard Florin, executive vice president and general manager of International Publishing for Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), joined Xbox executives Robbie Bach, J Allard, Peter Moore and Chris Lewis on stage to talk about their new titles for Xbox 360.

Titles that will form part of the impressive Christmas holiday portfolio include these:
 • "Kameo: Elements of Power" (MGS-Rare Ltd.). Renowned game developer Rare introduces "Kameo: Elements of Power," a mystical action-adventure game available exclusively on Xbox 360, in which the ability to morph into unique and incredible warriors allows Kameo to search out and battle ever-present evil. Boasting impeccable next-generation graphics and innovative gameplay, "Kameo" shines as a giant leap in game development. Continuing its legacy of creating dynamic puzzles, immersive combat and enormous environments, Rare fuses multiple genres to create a strikingly fun gaming experience destined for widespread appeal.
 • "Perfect Dark Zero" (MGS-Rare Ltd.). Joanna Dark returns in the Xbox 360-exclusive "Perfect Dark Zero," the prequel to the international award-winning and multimillion-selling first-person shooter "Perfect Dark" from famed game developer Rare. A secret war has begun between shadowy corporations bent on world domination. Joanna Dark and her father, Jack, are caught up in the fight for the planet's future. A routine bounty-hunting mission rips open a global conspiracy that will change Joanna's destiny - forever.
 • "Project Gotham Racing 3" (MGS-Bizarre Creations Ltd.). The popular "PGR" franchise zooms onto the Xbox 360, expanding many of the "Project Gotham Racing" features that gamers have grown to love. "PGR 3" creates the ultimate roster of the hottest supercars in existence, introduces them to the high-definition era, and drops them into a completely new gaming world, where style rules the road. Racers define and create individually customised gameplay, and can race each other - online or offline. The "Project Gotham Racing" franchise is designed by Bizarre Creations, a long-established independent games developer, based in Liverpool, England. Bizarre is focused on producing high-quality, playable games that make the most of the advanced technology for which they are designed. Bizarre Creations can be found on the Web at http://www.bizarreonline.net.
Other great games announced or shown at X05 included these:
 • "Crackdown" (MGS-Real Time Worlds). "Crackdown" pushes the action-driving hybrid genre into the next generation with the introduction of the first truly 3-D persistent playground, highly innovative cooperative gameplay, and an extensive prop interaction system all while taking place in a massive and highly stylised urban centre. All strategies and tactics are acceptable provided players clean up the streets. Players roam a virtual city built to encourage and allow the full width, depth and height of the space to be explored and exploited. "Crackdown" will offer free-form gameplay, over-the-top action, and, for the first time in this genre, online cooperative play.
 • "Gears of War" (MGS-Epic Games Inc.). Blending the best of tactical action games with the best of survival horror titles, "Gears of War" is the first game developed by Epic Games exclusively for Microsoft Game Studios and Xbox 360. "Gears of War" thrusts gamers into a deep and harrowing story of humankind's epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet.
 • "Too Human" (MGS-Silicon Knights). In "Too Human," players are treated to a nonstop barrage of action powered by the seamless integration of melee and ranged firearms combat and fueled by breathtaking visuals previously not possible thanks to a powerful combination of Xbox 360 and the Unreal Engine 3. Battles unfold in awesome scale as players engage with vast numbers of enemies.
 • "Mass Effect" (MGS-BioWare Corp.). Set 200 years in the future in an epic universe, "Mass Effect" places gamers in a vast galactic community in danger of being conquered by a legendary agent gone rogue. A spectacular new vision from legendary developers BioWare, "Mass Effect" challenges players to lead a squad of freedom fighters as they struggle against threatening armies to restore peace in the land. "Mass Effect" is the first in a trilogy of games with an overarching story, where the real conflict between organic beings and artificial intelligence comes to life in startling clarity.
 • "FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup" (Electronic Arts). EA celebrates its new exclusive FIFA World Cup interactive entertainment partnership with the release of "FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup," a game that immerses players into the emotional intensity of the next-generation football. Utilising the power of the Xbox 360, fans will be able to revel in the world's most sophisticated representation of football ever. Experience a newly enhanced gameplay engine that delivers extremely responsive controls and greater level of depth. New physics and animations mean that players will now react more realistically to every tackle, shot or pass of the ball. For the first time you'll see and feel the joy, anguish and pain of 90 minutes of soccer in a videogame. Through the power of high-definition technology you'll see how the detail of the players is accurately recreated in fine detail. The power of the Xbox 360 truly brings to life 80,000 chanting fans in a stadium and immerses you in the emotional intensity of FIFA World Cup football.
 • "Saint's Row" (THQ Inc.). Under threat from rival gangs and corrupt officials, the 3rd Street Saints must conquer the city of Stilwater or face destruction. From the spectacular opening battle to regain control of the local hood, "Saint's Row" offers an unparallel level of freedom to explore this living, breathing city. Players are free to engage in the multitude of different activates at their leisure, all while building up respect in a gameplay-rich world. Build enough respect and the 3rd Street Saint's lieutenants will trust the player with more dangerous missions.
 • "Full Auto" (SEGA Corp.). Combine fully-automatic, weapon-equipped vehicles with highly detailed and interactive urban environments and you have "Full Auto," the most destructive racing action ever experienced in a video game. This racer allows players to choose from a wide selection of unique vehicle designs and arm them with any combination of machine guns, cannons and other deadly weapons. The rules of the road don't apply in this high-octane, no-holds-barred competition. And once players have honed their skills against computer opponents, they can jump onto Xbox Live and take on real players in both destruction-heavy lap courses and last-man standing arena matches.
 • "Condemned: Criminal Origins" (SEGA). "Condemned: Criminal Origins" allows players to experience a heightened level of psychological tension as they use their instincts, forensic tools, and melee/firearms combat to track serial killers and bring them to justice. Gamers will play as Agent Thomas, a detective in the FBI's Serial Crimes Unit, whose pursuit of relentless serial killers leads him through gritty, life-like environments filled with sociopaths lurking on the brink of humanity.

Commenting on the announcements made at X05, Peter Moore, corporate vice president of Worldwide Marketing and Publishing for Xbox at Microsoft, said: "The biggest and the best names in publishing are committed to the success of Xbox 360, and looking at the titles we have announced tonight we are very excited. From exclusive titles to debuting the next installment of some of the world's best-loved franchises, Xbox 360 will redefine gaming and entertainment. The high-definition era of gaming starts now."

Seems like MS made an error in their press release, as this is labeled as the Xbox 360 launch list.

I see no launch list. I want a launch day list. Kameo, PD:Z and PGR3 isn't launch day. I know Quake 4 and COD2 are launch day.. PD:Zero is said to be sometime before Christmas. This seems to be a launch window list, I want the day.

me too
You're kidding right?
I guess I'm confused by MS's bullshit use of "launch titles." I expected to see Oblivion released on Nov. 22 but it looks like it's in the "coming before Christmas" group.
EA Sports games.
Yeah, that's the only shit i'm seeing. NHL, NBA, NFS: Most Wanted, all that other horseshit, I want real games, not "but it'll be out by Christmas!"

Of course it's a launch window, since it does say holiday season. You'll see what games are going to make it when they are finished and go gold before they're produced.

no idea where you are pulling that one out of...on the list is was grouped as a game that is a franchise

somehow i doubt that Superman Returns: The Videogame will be coming out anytime soon. Last I saw it was slated for right around the time of the movie's premiere.

If that WAS a launch title, i'd be all over the 360 at launch, instead of on the fence about it.

What i mean is that it seems to be just part of teh launch "window" which is apparently between Nov. 22 and Dec. 25.

Have they shown any screens or footage? I'm curious as to how the Madden devs did :)

I want a real launch list, and a real backwards compatible launch list. While we're at it, I want the lunch list, I'm in the mood for a sandwich.

that's not the launch list, that's just games that were shown and announced at X05.

I totally agree with you (minus the lunch part.) I'm one the fence about the 360, but the Xo5 thing has definitely started to tip me. The games look awesome, it has some amazing titles coming out over the next 12 months. However, I want to know what comes out a launch and what games will be backward comptatible. That would be nice.

It's what Microsoft is saying. Ask them why they're wording this stuff like they are.

Titles that will form part of the impressive Christmas holiday portfolio include these:

I didn't interpret it that way....especially since Condemned and DoA 4 are also all but confirmed for launch. I dunno, I'll be mugging people outside the store for my games anyway.

As of right now, I know of 2 games that have been confirmed as Day 1 titles:

Kameo: Elements of Power

During the long TGS Demo, the guy showing it off, whose name escapes me, said flat out that it's gonna be available on Day 1. Remember, it was a finished Xbox game, but then got thrown onto the 360, with a couple new bells and whistles and a very nice new coat of paint.

Call of Duty 2

The only way I know this is launch is because at the end of the PC demo for COD2, it says "Also for Xbox 360 At Launch"

And there you have it.

"GameSpot asked David Reid, director of platform marketing for Xbox, what the exact 360 launch lineup is. He said that "there will be 15 to 20 Xbox 360 titles available on launch day" with around another half-dozen making it to market by the end of the year. For the moment, though, he would only confirm eight titles as being available the same day and date as the 360: Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Madden NFL 06, NBA Live 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup."

"As for the other seven to 12 Xbox 360 games that will be available on November 22, Reid said they would be announced "in the next few weeks." "They are currently in the final stages of certification," he told GameSpot, referring to the quality-assurance process all third-party games must go through from their respective console-maker. "

Project Gotham Racing 3
Kameo
Perfect Dark Zero
Madden NFL 06
NBA Live 06
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06
Need for Speed Most Wanted
FIFA 06
Oblivion
Call of Duty 2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are the confirmed games by Microsoft (or their publisher) to be available on November 22nd. There are about five other games making it for sure to including DOA4, Ghost Recon: AW, and Condemned.
Ghost Recon:AW and DOA4 won't be launch day titles.
Ign has GR:AW updated today as a launch title but Ubisoft has not said anything either way. Also, DOA4 is pretty much finished or so I hear. I didn't read it was confirmed for launch though, just wishful thinking on my part.

So I just downloaded all the X05 trailers from FilePlanet.com. I'm going to type out thoughts as I watch them..

Call of Duty 2 (Before I watch this, please note that I plan on picking this up at launch) - I didn't think it was possible, but this game looks even better than all the other trailers and even the demo. It looks so insanely awesome that it's impossible for me not to pick it up.

Condemned (I have high hopes for this one and will probably also get it at launch) - Bad voice acting.. VERY bad voice acting. In-game looks great, the game looks great.. but man that voice acting..

Dead Rising (Also looking forward to this one in a big way) - Welcome to Williamette Mall. Looks great. He even put a bucket on a zombie's head, that's awesome. I can't wait for this one!!

Fifa '06 (Yawn) - Beautiful stadium and envrionment graphics. As per the EA usual, no in-game footage seems to be shown.

Full Auto - While it looks fun, I've already bought Burnout Revenge, and that's all this seems to be, Burnout Revenge with guns..

Gears of War (Trailer) - Looks fun.. but honestly, another shooter.. come on.

Gears of War (In-Game) - Yeah, it's shiny and look spretty and all..

Gun - I really truly don't think I could care about this game any less.

I'm skipping over the Kameo trailer and footage because I've seen it before and it's all the same..

Moto GP 2006 - What is this, a port of Moto GP 3?

skipping over NFS: Most Wanted, Oblivion, PD:Z and PGR3.. and Quake 4..

Resident Evil 5 - The same trailer that's been shown 8237468172364862 times.

Splinter Cell 4 - Either a prequel (because the guy's young) or a new guy. And, of course, no in-game footage was shown, which is insanely lame.

Too Human (Never heard of this game) - Ehhhhh.. at first glance, he looked like my character from Fable.. Nothing interesting here.

So yeah, really lame trailers overall.

I'm with you Scorch, COD 2 is looking freaking sweet!

The rainy trailer for Gears of War is pretty cool. Different from the other trailers they have shown.

GUN looks good. Just like to know how it plays.

Can not wait to see more of Mass Effect.

The new Ninety Nine Nights trailer looks pretty good, but does not show off alot.

Actually looking forward to Kameo. Looks like it would be a fun platformer.

Love to see what the next Wolfenstein looks like. :)

All this is is a list of what was at X05. It has nothing at all to do with what will or will not be available on launch day or before christmas. Almost guarenteed day 1 stuff (DOA4, Ridge Racer 6, NHL 2k6, NBA 2k6, Madden 06, Gun, etc.) are missing and there is no way several of the games on the list will even make a launch window of 3 months (Gears of War, Full Auto, Crackdown, etc.). It's starting to look like a real launch day list won't come until within a couple of weeks of Nov. 22. I actually don't have a problem with that. I would much rather wait a while on a game I'm looking forward to, than it be announced for day 1, rushed to be finished, and suck because of it. I think it's a good move to not release a list this far in advance.
It's what Microsoft is saying. Ask them why they're wording this stuff like they are.
If you reread the release, the line "Titles that will form part of the impressive Christmas holiday portfolio include these:" ONLY refers to Kameo, PDZ0, and PGR3.

I am suprised to see IGN listing games as launch that just dont seem like they could be. Other are not on their list that I thought should be. IMO its all still up in the air even two months out.
makes me wonder if Kameo will be delayed until the next Xbox.
Kameo has gone gold and the version at X05 was the 100% complete version. There's no need to worry that it won't be available on launch day.
If you reread the release, the line "Titles that will form part of the impressive Christmas holiday portfolio include these:" ONLY refers to Kameo, PDZ0, and PGR3.
quoted for truth. that list in the OP is not the complete list. some of those games just went into development.
If you reread the release, the line "Titles that will form part of the impressive Christmas holiday portfolio include these:" ONLY refers to Kameo, PDZ0, and PGR3.
I know that. I read it. Now take a look here and see what MS said:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/x05/launchtitles.htm
Xbox 360 Launch Lineup Announced
Today in Amsterdam, Microsoft® unveiled an incredible lineup of games for the Xbox 360™ as it gears up for launch November 22 in North America, December 2 in Europe, and December 10 in Japan. Topping the holiday portfolio are Kameo™: Elements of Power™, Project Gotham Racing® 3, and Perfect Dark Zero™.

Hell, even Gamespot wrote an article about it:

Adding to the confusion was a press release Microsoft issued titled "Xbox 360 launch line-up announced." It listed only three first-party games--Project Gotham Racing 3, Perfect Dark Zero, and Kameo: Elements of Power--under the heading "Titles that will form part of the impressive Christmas holiday portfolio." The second category of games was called "Other great games announced or shown at X05," and it included Gears of War, FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup, Full Auto, Saint's Row, and Condemned: Criminal Origins, as well as the just-announced Too Human, Mass Effect, and Crackdown.

The release then listed a third category, "Franchise titles that will make their debut on Xbox 360," which included Superman Returns: The Videogame, Call of Duty 2, Castle Wolfenstein, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, MotoGP 2006: Ultimate Racing Technology, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 4, and Quake 4. Given that at least half the games listed have 2006 release dates--and some were just announced--it would be impossible for the release to contain the Xbox 360 launch lineup as the title indicates.

quoted for truth. that list in the OP is not the complete list. some of those games just went into development.
I know. I realized that when I read it.
