I'd go with..well, I dunno. that's a tough one.

The Xbox 360 has an IR receiver for a remote control, while the PS3 uses bluetooth. also, the 360 has a power brick and the light on it is orange. The 360 is concave, while the PS3 is convex. They both have the same amount of buttons on the controller. The PS3's power cord is black.
 
The ps3 online network is really underated. There's nothing wrong with PSN itself, its really the devs need to make sure that the games are up to par. Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise, those games the PS3 are just as good online as they are via XBL. If you're paying to play games [those two especially] I can't see how a person can't help but feel they're being ripped off knowing that there are individuals having the exact same experience for free. my main point is that by not paying for live you're not going to be missing out on very much... and right now call of duty 4 is the game to play online...
 
I'd go with the 360 because it has more worthwhile games plus achievements.

Also it's been around longer so I assume there are many more sub $20 decent 360 games than cheap PS3 games. I know I've bought quite a few 360 games for cheap.
 
My friend roommate has a PS3 and I have a 360 I personally love my 360 and play it all of the time, but he only has 3 PS3 games and he hardly ever plays them. In my opinion, 360 has better games (until, of course, FFXIII and KHIII come out). Also, I love achievements. But if you decide to go with 360, get one of the new ones with the cooler-running chipsets. Hardware failure is a bitch.
