Will this get the job done as well as an official M$ one?

I received mine today. I've already charged the pack & everything works fine.
Can you connect the usb cable to a computer or does it have to be the console? My computer is almost always on but my console is only on when I'm playing a game. I just got mine and I agree w/ one of the previous posts that the battery doesn't seem to fit in the way it should. It doesn't always click in and trying to remove it makes it seem like it's going to break.
I agree with all your blood, this seemed to happen with the my 1st party battery pack too. It's a tight fit. You have to press the pack down, pushing the regular battery springs, & the pressable button on top of the pack needs to pressed in firmly/all the way in while you push the pack. IMO, it's better to have a tight fit so while your moving the controller the battery pack doesn't move loosely to cause a bad connection.

As far as charging the controller through a PC usb port, I never thought of trying. If that works I could charge it through my PC, switching to my wired controller while it charges.
i have a quick charge kit by m$, i don't really need the usb cable charger thing, but i was wondering if the battery pack that came with it would work with my quick charge kit, http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360quickchargekit/default.htm

would the battery pack from nyko power kit work with the quick charge kit?
If you still want to know, it works. Just got mine in today and gave it a try. The nyko battery is slightly bigger, so pop it in until you hear that click on both charger and wireless controller (thought i killed it when it wouldn't turn on).

The NYKO cord seems longer & the cord itself possibly thicker. Both the MS & Nyko usb & controller plug ins are the same shape, though the MS usb says "Microsoft" with stickers on the underneath of the plug in side.

Probably a noob question but can you use this to plug the wireless controller into your computers usb port and play PC games ?

I tried a wireless with a plug in play cord on my PC & it didn't work even though my Xbox360/PC wired controller software is installed on it.

That's because the only thing the USB cord does is charge the battery through the charging port. It doesn't convert wireless into wired.

How come it converts wireless to wired on the 360? Is there something built into the 360?

Oh, I see what your saying. Even if you have "dead" regular batteries in the wireless controller, with the cord plugged into the USB/controller, the cord just becomes the energy source, and the 360 is still reading the controller as still working through the wireless/remote function, and not the 360's USB port.

It doesn't...It's still a wireless controller and all the information travels wirelessly. It just now has a cord that is charging the battery at the same time.

Hey I finally just got mine in today and they all stopped charging and the light on the controller was first red, then it went blank... since then none of the controllers will charge. I finally plugged them into my pc and same thing no charge.... any1 else have this problem?

Thanks

The charging cables suck. It seems like you have to get it connected just right, try wiggling it as you connect it to your controller. If you got a quick charge kit use that instead works much better. Otherwise you may have to return it to Nyko for a new cable.
