XBOX 360 Racing Wheel (Microsoft) $99.99 @ Frys.com
Nice price, though I expect shipping to be painful. :whistle2:s
A check on the site shows ground shipping is under $10.

The dealbreaker for me is not only shipping, but tax. The wheel through Buy.com with the $10 off coupon is $118. But through Fry's, I add shipping and tax... making it nearly identical. :(

While I broke down and bought Forza through Buy.com yesterday, after reading the IGN article explaining the features and just how deep the game really is... I just can't justify over $100 on ANOTHER racing wheel.

(Why can't logitech, microsoft, and sony all just get along??? My DFP would probably be AWESOME with Forza, not to mention the G25 I've been thinking of getting...)

would've been nice if MS worked with Logitech on developing a wheel together instead of hiding their wireless secrets from other manufacturers...

this is a great bargain, 8$ shipping to OHIO! 108.00$ total for this wheel is a great deal... now If I could only find 108.00$!
Add in tax if you have a Fry's locally.
But, if you do have a Fry's locally BB or CC might just let you PM this in-store.

sorry it's not a great bargain to use on ONE GAME.

unless you're still playing PGR3, then the amount of games DOUBLES! Bargain!

Forza 2
PGR 3
NFS Carbon
Test Drive Unlimited

I'm sure the new NFS game that was announced recently will work with it, as well as DiRT. Probably more in the future.

Well there is currently 4 games that use it that I know of:

PGR3
NFS: Carbon
Test Drive: Unlimited
Forza 2

I know the demo for DiRT uses it too, and fairly certain other games in the future will use it such as PGR4, hopefully NASCAR 08, etc.

I bought mine Sunday at CC for $115 and couldn't recommend enough if you like racing games.

same

its nice to see it coming down in price. But I'm not into racing games as much as I was in the past so $79 or bust.
the build quality of this wheel makes it more like $69
overpriced
tru.dat

I played with one of these and it just felt cheap to me..

I'd be afraid this thing would get damaged in shipping. It's a pretty big honkin wheel and the packaging doesn't necessarily protect it. I don't think Frys would package this in a big block of styrofoam, and even still I'd be afraid some of the motors would get jarred out of whack or something.

Still, thanks OP for the deal.

Unfortunately, it's the only game in town for a 'wireless' wheel... mind you that it needs to be plugged (AC) in for the force feedback to work - but until M$ licenses the wireless to 3rd parties, this is as good as it'll get.

My 360 wont let me play my racing games...I love the wheel & it works pretty good with PGR3...Test Drive & Carbon i would not really recommend the wheel though...Also i believe you can use the 360 on the PC also, you just got to get one of the those wireless receivers...

Purchased mine from buy.com on the 28th of May for $106.99 shipped (No coupons involved). Got it on the 29th. I knew it only supported a few games, but it's the only race games I care about. Being my first wheel I ever purchased I gotta say I'm impressed. I got a few gold trophies on PGR3 that I couldn't get with the controller. I'm getting better with it each day.

Does it come with the "lap mount" it mentions in the description, or is this something that is sold separately? It doesn't have the pedals, does it?

The lap mount is just the slightly curved base of the wheel w/ skid resistant strips to keep it from sliding off your lap. Yes this wheel does come with the pedals.

How good is the lap mount?

Does it feel better than the last gen Madcatz used to? Last wheel I bought was for the DC

I never used the MadCatz wheel for 360. I also never really like sitting wheels on my lap, but this one did feel pretty comfortable. I can't sit like that for too long so I have to use a small table.
Why the fuck do I have to be broke right now? :(
shit you're telling me?? I have to find a way to sell stuff to make up the cost of the wheel + forza 2....hmmm

I never bought PGR3 and was wondering is it still included? If it is then it makes FRYS deal even sweeter. Got Forza coming should be here tuesday.

Yup still included.
I never bought PGR3 and was wondering is it still included? If it is then it makes FRYS deal even sweeter. And it's got a small gold band image under the white part of the game art that says "Put This Disc In First -- Wheel Drivers Included" which looks slightly tacky if that bothers you.

On another note, did they really reconfigure PGR3 to work with this wheel? Or is the game exactly the same as the original disc. I might just give away PGR3 to a friend since I'd have two if they're the same code.

Yeah, it's a different version of PGR3 that supports the force feedback in the racing wheel.

fuck it; I'm headed to Fry's to see if they'll PM from their online store.

I never played the original but all I think they did with this version is include the wireless wheel compatibility. Everything else is the same.

If you give your old copy away to a friend though, you might want to at least keep the case to it since the one that's bundled with the wheel only comes in a paper sleeve.

I might have to ring up MS support, though. The PGR disc that came with the wheel had a large area scratch on it.

Does anyone know if this price is good in-store? Or if it's possible to PM the price?

Just seeing if anyone has had any luck before I go to my Fry's tomorrow.

How does this one compare to the Logitech wheel for the 360? Does anyone have any suggestions? I bought the Logitech one from TRU and I'm slightly unimpressed by the lack of lap mount. To really get it to work I have to attach it to a piece of wood and that's unconfortable as heck.

Hey Emerald, just wondering if you had any luck getting this price in store.

It's just a slightly curved piece of plastic on the ends with some rubber strips on the underside. Seems to hold well, but I didn't actually try it that way. I'd imagine the force feedback would make the thing move a bit, though.

I was able to PM it at CC with the Frys product page printout on Thursday.
Hey Emerald, just wondering if you had any luck getting this price in store.
I tired, I told the customer service rep. that I had driven twenty miles, blah blah. But apparently when you printout the product page it says that they won't PM their virtual store. TOTAL BS if you ask me. But I may try to PM this at CC later this week.

Thanks for the info Paz and Emerald.

Anyway yeah, I ended up doing the same thing as Santurio and PM'd it at Circuit City. It ends up being $96.99 before tax with the 10% of the price difference. No hassle at all from the customer service rep either. Very easy transaction.

Now I'm off to trade this copy of PGR3 towards Forza 2.
