Hey everyone. Quick question and no, I'm not starting a xbox vs ps3 debate. I had the ps1 and ps2 but never picked up the ps3. My surround sound and blu-ray player are both Sony so I'm not a Sony hater. I was thinking of selling my blu player to a friend and pick up the ps3 since I am liking some of the games they are have out now (Uncharted, Killzone) and some of the new ones coming out (Infamous, MAG is what I think the name is). One of my biggest problems was the controller on ps. I was never too good using the ps controller and am used to the 360 now. Do they have some sort of ps3 controller that is near to the xbox 360? . I have seen a couple that are close here and there and wanted to see if anyone on here uses/used one. Thx.

Nyko makes some model(never used it), but if you are into DIY stuff you can swap guts of a ps3 controller into a 360 one with effort and time.

I'll just throw my two cents in and say that there's not any PS3 titles AT ALL I feel you'd miss out on by not having sixaxis. Anything worth it's salt knows to make motion controls optional.

Except Flower IMO. But God help me, Rag Doll Kung Fu needs to learn this lesson the hard way.

Uncharted uses Six Axis for throwing nades. Can you turn that off?

XCM cross battle adapter like vipFREAK said.

It's funny 'cause I was in the same boat as you. I had my 360 and wanted to pick up a PS3 but I wanted a 360 like controller. After using the DS3 for like a month though I felt weird going back to my 360 controller when gears 2 came out. That adatper looks pretty sweet.

I haven't, but I hope that stays $30 since I'd gladly pick one of those up to use on PS3 IF it works on 100% of PS3 games. But I wonder if I'd have to plug it in directly through a USB port on the PS3 or I could plug it in through the Rock Band USB hub I picked up from Target for $5 about 3-4 months ago.

I agree with Devil May Cry about Rag Doll Kung Fu, since I felt like an epileptic playing that game. Why make so many moves REQUIRE the SixAxis? I can't stand SixAxis garbage in games.

The 360 triggers and joysticks are just so much better than those of the PS3 controllers. That is part of the reason why my PS3 gets hardly any play time.
I posted that already. I have one I "could" get rid of...
Is it the original or the 'Plus'?

Does anyone in this thread have either the Shadow Wireless controller for PS3 or one of those USB wired ones from Gamestop for $25?

I'm just wondering, since I want an extra controller(shoulda kept my friggin' SixAxis), but I don't wanna pay the $50 for an adapter to use PS2 controllers if I don't have to.

If you want to use a PS2 controller that adapter can be found for about 4 bucks on ebay, and you can use basically any usb controller on the ps3. If you have a controller for your pc try plugging it into your ps3 and seeing if it works. Best example of any controller working is the sega saturn pad which you can get for 15 bucks on ebay and works great with fighting games but no analog sticks.

No question, Dreamgear Shadow Wireless. It's fucking awesome. No motion sensing, but based on how much developers support it, no big loss. I see there's a new SHadow model, but I don't think it's worth the extra cost.

Only thing is you want to turn off your PS3's auto-off function for controllers. Because when the PS3 turns if off if you gotta go take a shit, you have to re-sync (ie: push the PS button on the controller and the sync button on the USB dongle) when you get back.
What about the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows?
I don't have one so couldn't tell you but doesn't hurt to try. Although I did try using an original xbox controller with a usb adapter and that didn't work

That's just it though... even though the PS3's triggers are a fail, you can't even use them because Sony makes you use the "Bumpers". Yeah, I realize "some" games can let you configure it, but are they any of the FPS's I'd like to play so far? no...

its not sony that makes you use them, its the developers.

most dev teams realize the "triggers" on the duelshock3 are epic fail. so they configure there controls to use the L1 and R1 buttons.

i highly recommend the shadow controller from dreamgear.

on that controller, either using the triggers or L1/R1 buttons, it feels better, the longer handles and new placement of the left analog stick help the controller alot.

seriously, sony should of did this to begin with. but instead they stick with there super old since PS1 days design of a controller.

yeah DS1 was freaking awesome when it came out, revolution in controllers. but come on, that was over a decade ago.

P.S _______
if you could hold out longer, madcatz is working on COD MW2 controllers.
on the community managers of InfinityWard he twitted something about controllers.

my guess is IW are teaming up with MadCatz to make controllers. and im 100% sure they are going to mimic the X360 controllers, and they are probably going to make a ps3 controller that is identical to the X360 controller.

I just bought one of the Dreamgear PS3 controllers earlier today and I'll probably test it out in a little while on GTA IV or something.

The people @ Gamestop looked like I was from Mars when I asked if they had the Dreamgear PS3 controller with built in battery.

I had to go to FOUR Gamestop stores before ONE of them finally realized what I was talking about and got it out of the case behind the counter.

I just wish the sticks had the little indent like the old Xbox controllers, since the normal sticks on a PS3 controller are a pita to keep your fingers on when you're being chased in GTAIV online.

I charged up the dreamGear Shadow PS3 controller and before it got to fully charged I had NO issues with it, but ever since I unplugged the USB cable and tried to use it wirelessly it was acting all weird.

I just tried to sync it up again and the directional pad and sticks work, but the face buttons(X,O,triangle, square) and the shoulder buttons don't work for anything.

I tried plugging it into the USB cable again, hitting the reset button on the back of the controller, hitting the PS button on the controller and the USB dongle and NOTHING seems to bring the face buttons into working order.

The only thing that may be causing interference that may be causing this problem that I can think of is a phone I have in the same room on the same 2.4GHZ frequency.

I'll check into the instruction manual for it tomorrow, but up till it was fully charged & I unplugged it, it was working great.
