Xbox 360 Users: Sign Up For Skyrim’s Dawnguard Beta Now

I'd bet several people frequenting here get picked for the beta. I got picked on that Microsoft beta testing the new disc format a while back and got the free Halo Reach.

Think almost everybody that signed up got in that beta. I'm sure this one will be much more limited
Yep remember beth wants to make money giving the full dlc away for free costs them money it will be extremely limited
This beta is on one out of the three platforms it will be available on. They're obviously not too worried about losing money as they're having a beta for DLC. Not all developers are greedy you know.

Good thing I checked here. I had signed up earlier, but they didn't expressly say you needed a forum account to get in, probably on purpose. So I signed up for the forum and re-submitted. My wife will be pumped if we get it. Good luck all!

So I just registered on the forums and re-registered for the beta. Hope this doesn't hurt my chances as I signed up the first time as soon as the beta registration popped up.

I don't post much but I wanted to let everyone know I just got my beta code so everyone should check their emails, and apparently you didn't need to be a forum member

Holy crap, that's lucky. Congrats.
They said they only gave out invites to 0.5% of applicants.
I was unfortunately not one of the extremely lucky ones.

They just tweeted that they've only sent out about 75% of the invites. The rest will go out tomorrow. So there's still hope. Impossible hope.

There are about 100 points to make as to how they are, but lets just go with on-disc DLC. For DLC to be on-disc, it has be have finished development before the game was sent to be certified for release. This means that ANY DLC delivered like this was finished, then cut and sold to increase price for what is essentially the full experience. Capcom is probably the worst offender of this practice.

-Street Fighter X Tekken has 12 fully finished character on-disc that are going to be sold for $20.
-All of their recent fighting games have tons of costumes and the like on-disc.
-Dead Rising 2: OTR sold basic cheat codes that were on-disc.
-Dragon's Dogma cut 100 quests for this
-Resident Evil: ORC has a ton of stuff
-MvC3 DIDN'T have an upgrade DLC for Ultimate, screwing over all early adapters.

And that's just the recent stuff off the top of my head. Alongside that, you have all of the shitting on their fanbases that they do, and terrible treatment of their employees that has cost them virtually all of their talent.

Capcom used to be a good studio that really listened to their fans and seemed genuinely interested in making good games, then the higher ups decided that needed to change and all of the good influences left. At least Platinum Games formed because of this, but it still sucks to see them fall so far.

And Capcom obviously isn't the only offender with cut content like this. THQ got pretty bad during their recent near death experience, The From Ashes DLC for Mass Effect 3 was mostly removed from the disc but was the same concept, and Gears of War 3 had a full map pack and all those weapon skins. That was kind of a special case because they got delayed several months, but that doesn't change the fact that there was $50 of cut content on that disc.

A true expansion pack, such as the topic of this thread, is something I don't mind paying extra for. But the nickel & dime you sales practices of most of the game companies these days disgusts me and I refuse to participate.

I think the worst offenders are the online passes. I buy the game, then I have to pay to be able to play it as it was meant to be played? Ridiculous.

All emails have now been sent. I didn't get one and you likely did not get one either. Looks like I'll be trying to win a (non-beta) code after the DLC is released or just wait for a DotW sale in a year or two.

You would rather have them save it somewhere not on the disc waiting to release it and then having you download it than having it already on the disc? Less downloads the better

No Skyrim email :( Read that less than half of 1% of the people that signed up got it

:( Checked all my spam, oh well. This will most likely not be day 1 DLC since I have been catching up on my backlog and will be for awhile. Plus I like to give it time to work out what the glitches are.
I got in, and I feel very lucky to have done so.
Congrats, I feel the same way. I was just wondering when you signed up, I think I signed up within an hour of the beta opening because I saw a story on destructoid and that's why i got in, I think.

I'm not sure when it opened, but I did sign up that first day as soon as I saw the news about it being open. I think it had a lot more to do with the answers provided on the signup questions, though.

I would rather they include all the things finished during development as part of the game. The original point of DLC was to make additional content after development finished to increase the lifespan of the game. Now they just cut out stuff they deem unnecessary and make more money on it. Like how Assassin's Creed 2 cut our two story missions and most of Capcom's games with their similar DLC.

Didn't receive one either. It's all good. I have other games to play at the moment.
