Xbox 360 - Vertical or Horizontal?

I thought it would be cool for users to post if they leave their Xbox 360's vertical or horizontal?...

...I used to leave mine horizontal, but currently having it vertical

If you wish you can also post your rationale for having it the way it is.

Pictures always welcome. :bouncy:

I keep mine horizontal. I used to keep it vertical.

To me keeping it horizontal is better because its easier to put the disc in. I also found having it vertical seemed to ruin discs more. I'd have random scratches and a lot of burn marks(looks like a spot of water on the bottom of the disc.)

Mine is vertical, but I would like to lay it horizontal but I can't because of the set up in my entertainment center.

Vertical here, although I am also wary about disc damaging, so would have it horizontal if it was on the TV stand as apposed to the carpet, but there's to much other crap in there lol. :bouncy:

Horizontal. There was a website that did some heat mapping of the 360 both horizontal and vertical years ago (old launch units, maybe Falcon chipsets as well), and the horizontal dispersed the heat better. With vertical positioning, the heat gets trapped in a smaller area at the top of the unit.

Don't know if overheating is still causing the problems it used to since the Jasper chipset (which is what I now own) and new slims came out, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

exactly

i have the fan that makes your slim look like a hot rod, but generally I prefer to lay her horizontally...so there's uh...less risk of disc scratching. yeah.

Horizontal here. Nearly ended up with a few unplayable game discs in vertical. Most notably the Quake 2 bonus disc which came with Quake 4. All I can say is thank god for disc resurfacing though. Saved me a bit of money, or having to haggle MS to replace games they said they would.

Not to mention as noted by a few already.....Much easier to get the disc into the tray when the console is sat horizontally.

Vertical, but I never play games spinning off of the disc:

Start game
exit to dash
install
view list of achievements while waiting for install
sandwich/soda/laundry
begin game

It's the one reason why I don't like compilation discs. They can be installed but the disc still spins the duration of your session.

Horizontal.

Looks better IMO (blends in with the other stuff on my TV stand that is horizontal and black.

Safer. Don't have to worry about the cat knocking it over while the disc is spinning and damaging something etc.

Couldn't stand it vertical in my TV stand anyway. Shelves don't have that much space between them.
Vertical, just a great spot on my entertainment center. I almost wish I had a ps3 to stand up on the other side...lol
Its almost christmas right? Have you been good? Then ask Santa!!!!
Horizontal for me. Just feels right.
Me too. But sometimes vertical is good when you're in a hurry.

Um, sorry, what was the question again?
All you guys are claiming disc issues that are caused when you move your xbox when its on lol
No kids, no pets, level flat surface, definitely not stupid enough to move the console while on, and only had a wireless controller til I put the console horizontal....then I bought a wired controller. So tell me exactly how the hell the thing moved? Cant can ya pal? You're talking to someone who knows how volatile disc players are when moved since the early CD players first came out.

Also lets keep in mind independant studies that proved that the 360's (notably xenon, and falcon units) drive assembly didnt have enough padding to prevent the disc from coming into contact with the edge of the laser assembly on occasion.
