Xbox 360 Wired Controller - $19.99 AR at CC (OOS Online)

Looked for this in my local store yesterday. Didn't see it, but they had heaps of wireless.

From what I've read, it seems that the wireless has no disadvantages vs. the wired except cost and the need for batteries/battery pack.

Does the wired have any advantage except cost and no batteries? Responsiveness? Rumble quality?

I know that the wired controller will work on a PC too, whereas the wireless one needs an adapter.

Play and charge kits will also let you use wireless controllers on a PC if you want to go that route.

My bad, assumed it would work since I saw Device Manager pop up with drivers after I plugged the controllers in my XP desktop.

These controllers could also be lurking in the PC joystick/controller section, as they are compatible with Windows.

Play and charge kits are for CHARGING ONLY. In order to use the wireless controller to play PC games, you have to have the wireless dongle thing. The play and charge transmits no information, just energy to the controller.

Not true. If it didn't have a wire for information, it would not be recognized in Windows at all. It is, though. But unfortunately, it takes tinkering to make it actually work in games.

Yeah, the play and charge kit doesn't allow you to use the wireless controllers on your PC. The wired controllers do work on PC and getting one for 19.99 is a solid deal. Thanks, caedeskhan.

What he said. Play and charge is power only.

If they are power only, how are they recognized in Windows as "Xbox 360 Controller via Play & Charge Kit?" They transmit information. People claim to have gotten them to work with 3rd party drivers or altering the official MS drivers. I haven't tried, though.

I wrote down #882224079761 to check it when I went to the store for pickup. They gave me #882224020824 so I said to the cashier that this isnt the model # I ordered & that there is a rebate on this item & the rebate only says #882224079761. She went & got the manager for me & I told him that the rebate form only says #882224079761. He asked how much was the rebate for (he had no idea there was a rebate), I said $20 & he told the cashier to take off $20 (he said that they were the same item, just diff sku# for whatever unknown reason). On my reciept it says #882224079761 even tho the upc is #882224020824. The controllers are exactlly the same.

OK, just got off the phone with CC rebate center. I explained my situation with ordering #882224079761 & recieving #882224020824 instead.(didnt say manager took off $20) I stated the manager insisted (lies :) ) that the controllers were the same & that CC would honor my rebate with #882224020824, even tho the rebate form only says #882224079761. The csr said several times that I needed to return #882224020824 to the store for the correct model #, that they would only honor the rebate for #882224079761. I went back & forth with him stating the manage of the store told me the opposite of what he was saying, so who was right/wrong. I said they did not have anymore #882224079761 in stock, even tho that is the model # listed on my reciept & I received a different model #. He than said that as long as #882224079761 is listed on my reciept, they will honor it(even tho upc is #882224020824) . I think he might of been just saying that to get me off the phone. If someone can pm me with a copy of upc #882224079761, only a copy is needed for the rebate. This would make it FAR for me :) ..

How to make it FAR :)

Order #882224079761 online for instore pickup, than ask a manager to take off $20 for the rebate if u recieve #882224020824 because rebate form says valid on #882224079761 (printout a copy to show him) & he sold out of other model #. If he wont take off $20, than ask for a $24 giftcard because u purchased a specific model # & he sold your item, so your beat for the rebate. Do not buy #882224020824 without getting the manager to take off $20 because the rebate center will not honor it & u will have paid full price. Just thinking if your reciept does not say #882224079761 from the store than use the confirmation email to send in with the rebate as it should show #882224079761. Hopefully a fellow CAG who got #882224079761 can post a copy of their upc (or pm me to keep private) to make this FAR for some of us :)

I wonder how many rebates CC will get with #882224020824. Pretty shady move on CC's part if u ask me not putting the rebate on both model #'s when there the exact same controller.

You're pathetic.

Anyways, I'd rather spend the $20 to buy the wireless dongle than have a wired controller. Good looking out, though.
