XBOX 360 Wireless Controller Shells?

I enjoy having other color controllers to use (the kids enjoy them -- daughter likes the pink, son the red etc etc).

I do have the standard white, black controllers, a red one and even one of the crappy Halo Spartan ones.

I wouldn't mind having the green Halo one or the blue one that was out there for a while but crap they are super expensive these days and not worth it.

I did stumble on some replacement shells but I know nothing about them.

Supposedly they are original white shells that folks have dyed or painted (I think they are all painted to be honest).

My question is do these hold up at all/worth the $15 or so that they seem to go for?

Instead of a shell, how about a nice rubbery skin? I bought a white/clear one on eBay for $3.xx shipped, and I like it.
