If you have an actual Gold subscription, it doesn't let you extend it with trial codes.
 
i got this with my copy of halo 4... it is for the mountain dew double xp... this is a combo code.. you to redeem it AT THE SAME TIME with a 24 pack of dew or diet dew code and a bag of doritos (i'm pretty sure it's the big bag but uhh the card doesn't specify.... ) ayways.... here is the code (it'll give you an additional 12 matches, plus you get an extra 2 matches for using dew and doritos together....

It's a counter measure against lurkers, who more often than not take codes they don't need. It allows members of the forum enough time to get a chance to see the post and get the code as opposed to the lurker. If a person truly wants a code they can work at it or go online and search for a decoder. I don't do the "first to pm gets it" because I'm rarely online.
