xbox communicator

CAGiversary!
Hi, guys. I just wanted to get your all's opinions on the official communicator. I read sometimes that it's easy to break and isn't very reliable. Is that true?

I've heard about Logitech as an alternative. I didn't know they made an xbox headset. Do they?

Anyway, help, guys! And deals would be nice if you know of any!

and for rainbow six 3 if you know, too :)

Its more comfortable than most PC headset microphones I've used, however it's far less adjustable to individual head size.

Also, the microphone will not be your biggest problem communicating online -- other people's connections will be.

During the last few days when I've actually started taking my live account seriously I noticed that I am plagued by matches with people with bad connections who still insist on trying to talk and get angry when I can't understand them. At least, I think they're angry as they must know that I can't hear them blabbering away if I'm not responding; yet they continue to babble, scream, and holler in a digitized sort of way. In fact, after a half-hour on Tetris with some chatty distorted beyond recognition people who kept starting and dropping the game quickly I got to shock of my life hearing a very clear feminine voice saying "I'm in the lobby". I dropped my controller even!LOL!

minx was right about the connection being the problem. I got xbox live the day it came out, and just recently broke my headset by stepping on it. I found it to be pretty tough and of very good quality.

I find it horribly uncomfortable. As long as you have the adaptor though, you can use any headset at all. Any headset that plugs into a standard headphone jack.

ummm i have an important question do you want it for voice commands or live chat cause the madcats will work for commands

The headset is actually pretty comfortable. The only problem is like stated above, that the headset is made of thin plastic where the earphone connects. As long as you don't take it apart a lot it should be fine. I was on the road for a while and kept taking it apart and it finally broke. Minx is right about the connection. A lot of time you feel like you are at a drive through window. I'm not really complaining as Xbox live is still about 10 times better than any other online services out there.

ive never had a problem with the headet and for the most part have allways heard everything clearly...i guess it depends on connection speed. i think xbox live is awesome
can you switch the earphone to the left ear? because i have hearing loss in my right ear.
Yes you can.

The official one is really flimsy at the part where it connects to the band of your head. I've broken two (or shall I say, my brother's friend has broken two), but I know they're still flimsy to being with. I bought a MadCatz one, stopped working about two weeks after I got it and sucked even when it was working. People said there was constand background brushing and that my voice was all hazy and shit. I wasn't aware that Logitech made a mic, if they do, though. But like ppl have already said, if you don't like the official or MadCatz one, then you can just get one that plugs into the mic adapter on the top of the controller.

madcatz has a 5 year warrenty on all their stuff

it works

I'm getting my gba car adapter replaced as we speak

call them

if he wants it for online like i said above dont get the mad catz one but if he wants it for r63 for like voice commands its perfect, ps my friend got a mad catz mic used it on live and i shot him......

Hmm. Well, I didn't know I needed two different microphones to either "talk" or "give commands", that kinda sucks. But I did just order the official one for 25 bucks yesterday, so I'll see how that fares.

But in case it fails, how about a link to the adapter?

While we're on the subject, if I were to get the adapter sometime, what is a great headset to get? Nothing to overpriced, but something clear and somewhat durable. I have one for my phone and it just sucks. Some kind of plantronics set, volume is way too low, hard to hear even when volume is turned all the way up.

REALLY?!

Do I just send them my reciept and the mic and they'll give me a new one?

yes,but you have to call first to get a return number to enclose with it.

also, they do require the receipt, but the guy I spoke to said its not a deal breaker if you've lost it

from their website
"Call toll-free: 1.800.659.2287

Mad Catz Hours:
Monday - Friday: 8am - 4pm (PST)
Closed Saturday, Sunday and most major holidays "

Well, I bought it awhile ago, so I might not have the reciept. But I still might be able to repair it? I mean, the Xbox hasn't even been out for five years, so that's enough proof, right :D ?
