• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2025. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

This may be common knowledge at this point, but I just started playing Ryse for the weekly quest (game is fun, btw) and noticed that all the Gold Packs that you can buy to get upgrades faster are free. If you click to buy, it takes you to the store and starts you at 1000 gold, but even the 25,000 gold pack is free. Just grabbed a few and I’ve been upgrading every chance I get.

I had started it a long time ago and it was so much fun booting it back up for the quest that I just kept playing. I finished it over a couple sessions in a few days. Ryse looks really good considering how old it is.

I started playing Gears of War 4 last night. Mostly to be able to delete the game so I can install Flight Sim when it releases tomorrow since GOW 4 is over 100GB. It looks REALLY good and loads up fast on my Series X. It's odd that the in game graphics are better than the cutscenes. It's the same for some other games I've played that are enhanced for Series X but they can't upgrade the cutscenes. I'm curious if there is a way to tell if the game is enhanced for Series X just by looking at the cover art. Some games have an X/S on them and others don't. GOW4 doesn't but it's enhanced.

Is the game Control better to play on a Series X through Game Pass or the PS4 version on PS5? Has anyone tried both?

The Control Ultimate edition (not on Gamepass) is the one that’s optimized for Series X. Worth the upgrade.

There's nothing to activate on that one. It goes to an error message when I click on the first thing, which is usually activate for other punch cards. The $5 I spent on Namco Museum Vol 2 did show up today so I'm at $5/$40 and I bought that the first day of the sale, so yeah quite a bit of delay.

No, unfortunately, it doesn’t release until 11 am EST and it’s a simultaneous release so changing regions won’t help anyway.

Completely OT but has anyone here had the pleasure of developing Shingles? My eyebrow/forehead/scalp on the right side of my face started getting really sensitive last Wednesday to the point it gave me a migraine. Then yesterday I woke up to these splotchy/itchy/painful/red rash all above and around my eye, forehead and scalp. Went to the doctor this morning and yep, Shingles. On some antivirals but for now it is wait and see on the pain but holy shit I would never want anyone to go through this. My lymph nodes are also really hard and inflamed behind my ear giving me an ear ache and jaw pain. 

I am only 46 so it really sucks to get this before getting a chance for the vaccine. Anyway, this shit don't play. If anyone has tips on reducing the pain I would love to hear it.

You may have missed our previous discussions on this. I believe for most of us, it takes about 3 days for the purchase reward cards to update. This is likely a layer of protection Microsoft put in place to stop people from buying and returning games the same day but still getting the points. Because it takes a couple days to register, we also do not recommend waiting till the last day of a punch card to make a purchase as you may not get the points at all.

I don't believe Gears 4 was enhanced for Series X, It is just running the old One X enhanced code. However, they did add FPS boost that benefits the Series S and gets that version of the game to run 1080p/60fps (The Xbox One X version already had 1080p/60fps and 4K/30fps modes)

With most games you can tell if they are Series X enhanced by the X|S logo on the game tile in your games library. Another way to check if a game is Series X enhanced is in the "manage game" menu where you can check the file info. FPS boost games do not get the logo but the mode is on automatically as long as the game doesn't need a resolution drop to use it. FPS boost games are slightly more difficult to identify right now and I just use Major Nelson's list: https://majornelson.com/fpsboost/ All FPS boost "off by default on Series X" games take a resolution hit to run that mode.

Sounds about like where I had it several years back. I was ~30ish so apparently an uncommon age. Terrible headache and it sucked whether my eyes were open or closed. Just spend days on the couch taking pain meds and trying to sleep with cold cloth on my face.

After about a week it just went away and cleared up like it never happened. Hang it there, didn't seem like anything gave me relief but in a week it will just be a bad memory.

Was looking to see if you could double dip with the qualifying products from the 4000 point Ultimate Game Sale, but this list is very small and looks like it will change week to week. Maybe somewhat interesting though is it also has pre-orders and movie rentals and purchases. Lasts through September 6th. They have Death's Door this week, which I just bought a few days ago...nice. Maybe something like Hades will show up since I'll probably just flat out buy that one even with GamePass.

This is right. Gears 4 is also one of the One X enhanced games that has HD assets for One X mode, not just a resolution bump but improved textures. So even at 1080p/60fps it's going to look really nice on the Series X if that update has been downloaded. It's a shame it doesn't do 4k/6ps though.

I definitely enjoyed Gears 4 more than Gears 5. The latter had its moments but Gears 4 really nailed the legacy-sequel that is so common these days in movies.

Initial loading times even after the update on Flight Simulator are painful, but it’s pretty cool so far. Managed a successful take off and flying around. Takes some getting used to the controls but works well for just a controller IMO.

Can’t wait to dive in more tonight and see if I can find my neighborhood.

I went home at lunch and started the update. I also updated AC Valhalla because they finally fixed the broken druid dlc achievement and I popped it with remote play when I got back to work. It was very laggy, but it was 5 enemies and my save was right there are the trial that wouldn't complete.

Trying to install everything for Ultimate Mortal kombat 11 off the disc makes me want to give up gaming forever haha. The game will randomly pick and choose what it wants to see installed when it boots up.

Good luck with that. For some reason, my console wouldn't let the download go through once everything on the data disc downloaded. I deleted and redownload EVERYTHING THREE TIMES and still ended up with the same problem. It got to the point where I said F this, returned my physical copy and just bought the game digitally last Friday.

Looks like there's a problem with Flight Simulator. No cursor in the menus. To select an airport I had to plug in a mouse! It worked though.

Few other things you might need to know if you're jumping straight into the free flight world map. Throttle up is A (tap A to set the engine %), throttle down is B (again, tapping to set it), brakes are Y+B and landing gear is pressing on the left stick. 3rd person is way easier to fly in and it looks better too.

Already about to fly over my house (which I've done on PC before but ya know, gotta do it).

Apply the setting and a cursor should appear when using your Xbox controller.

Menus worked fine for me. If the cursor disappears, I think you can click the right stick to get it back.

You took it further than I ever did. I just deleted the entire game and haven't thought about it.
I already played it extensively a year ago or whenever it first came out at least.

New Mass Effect stats out. Nothing too crazy. Femshep is up to 32% from 18% back in 2013.

40% of people still play as solider, although I watched a few streams and a lot of people don't customize their shepard so you don't even get to pick a class, you just get soldier automatically.

Kaidan of course is the least popular in ME1 still.

I'm about halfway done with ME3, which I only played once when it first came out and don't remember much of. My biotic femshep has a 200% power recharge rate and can spam Shockwave and Flare, it's ridiculously overpowered and hilarious. Hard to imagine going through as a Soldier at this point.
