Well, I go to turn my Xbox on this morning, and the indicator light on the console flashes red and green, it cycles about three times and then shuts itself off. I don't get any video either.

Would anyone perhaps know the cause? I'm going to have to try and repair it myself I guess.

I would google that. I also would check to make sure the power supply is properly plugged in. What ever you do, don't attempt to fix it yourself. If you do that, then it will be gone for good.

It's December, so its obviously celebrating Christmas.

Merry Xmas from Xbox 360!

Yeah, I was hoping Microsoft would fix it out of good faith, considering Sony did a similar thing for my launch PS2. But unforunately, they want $80.00 dollars.

Thanks for the link, WhipSmartBanky. I checked out that site previously, but they don't really explain how I would go about repairing it, since it could be just about anything causing it.

I guess I'm just going to have to get another Xbox console. How much does Gamestop/EB/GameCrazy sell used Xboxes for? :bomb:

Coincidentally, this error is indeed known as "Christmas Lights."

Mine does that too...

...but that's because it's modded.

Sorry to hear you're having problems, OP.

 I wouldent reccomend a used one

my xbox has done the same thing and its because the av cables somehow got disconencted from the back on my xbox. when i plugged it back in and turned it on, it started up no problem.

Yeah, I'm not going to bother buying a used Xbox. Gamestop wants something like $110.00 for one.

I'm just going to have to send it to Microsoft for repairs, for around $80.00.

Not sure when I'm going to get around doing that though, I'm going to be buying DS Lite pretty soon, and also picking up a Wii.

You could get a used one of ebay for about $80. Alternately, there are people at places like Xbox-Scene.com who can fix it for you, but it would probably be better to send it to Microsoft. Also, I think Llama is still buying broken units for parts for $20 or $30, so that's an option if it's worth it to you.
