After looking forward to Shadow Complex for so long, I feel a bit disappointed. It's a wonderful game so far, but the different layers of enemies is messed up. It's hard to aim at the one you want, and you have to guess whether or not your shot will reach or get obstructed by something you can't see. On the other hand, the enemies have no trouble shooting you through the spots you can't shoot them, and even have a good chance of shooting you when you look perfectly safe behind cover. I'm playing on impossible difficulty, and it's literally impossible because enemies get lucky bullets that do a ton of damage to me when I'm hiding away turtling them. And also getting shot offscreen really sucks. A lot of things are ruining the experience for me.

...not bad for a guy who started out with just a flashlight.

(that's how i feel with GH3 on expert level and I play guitar & piano IRL)
 
I bit on Shadow Complex as well and I'm severely disappointed. I mean, you play for about 10 mins and then the game ends...what kind of shit is that. I'm surprised that this game has been able to go on and be sold at the price it's been at for that short amount of play despite production values. Ya sure, the ending makes sense since he did only meet the girl just recently, why would he risk his life for her and all that, but I still feel like I've been scammed.

Picked up and beat Shadow Complex. Great fun, I especially liked beating the soldiers down. Not a big fan of shooting into the screen, just couldn't get the touch down right on the joystick for those mobs. Either way great fun.

Heh. I didn't even notice the cool spot til Diebythesword pointed it out. His avatar is...well, erm...cool. IMHO, Cool Spot was the most enjoyable use of blatant marketing in a game that I'd ever seen.

Back on topic, I 'm disappointed that majornelson discountinued his early preview announcements after only one day. It was really convenient to see what the XBL deal would be while waiting for Amazon's deals to change.

Click down the difficulty a notch or two? There's no reason to punish yourself on your first playthrough.

I think this is part of the reason everyone gets so up in arms about these deals being less than stellar.

I guess Microsoft proved to me that there could be something worse than free avatar items. After pushing this Zune marketplace so hard on me, why can't they let me try out the 1080p with a decent cheap rental.
 
What a joke. They had an opportunity to discount some good DLC and increase sales numbers. Instead, they throw us absolute crap. These aren't deals. These are the absolute failure of Microsoft's marketing department to understand how a real company increases sales.

I would think that at a minimum, they could just copy Valve. Apparently even that is too complicated.

Oh bullshit, nothing has been that bad so far, save today. Free themes and avatar items are fine. Worms is a good game at 5 bucks, and Avatar Golf should be a no brainer at 2 bucks. Deal with it.

Good. I downloaded it to my queue yesterday but I got a message that the file was unable to download properly for whatever reason. Personally I guess I don't really need it since I already use the Holiday theme from last year.
 
Nice! I never saw that Stargate movie so I'll definitely be checking this out for $1.

I can't remember what MS called this holiday promotion but I think anyone would assume it would be better than this shit. It's like Target saying we are gonna have deals everyday and then announce pencils half off, or get a free Target brand plastic bag. But then I think there are people who buy avatar clothes and realize that MS has a lot of tools in the MS store. I don't get people who tell everyone to basically STFU because avatar clothes and basic advertising themes aren't bullshit.

Same thing happened to me, but I tried it again around 2-3 A.M., and it worked fine.

I'm gonna go ahead and think microsoft's marketing department knows how to increase sales. How much product have you moved? You're one person who doesn't like it. They're around to maximize sales and profits, not to please some whiny little bitches.

If you don't think it's a deal, then move along. I (and others) have benefitted from this promotion. And I'll benefit again next week with The Maw.
 
There was only one way for Microsoft to ruin this sale, and that was by offering things that aren't games. They're 3/4 so far. I recommend they not even bother having a sale if they come with lame shit like this. They're basically giving us lumps of coal.
 
Wow, these daily deals stink. Haven't felt compelled to download a single thing yet. Even the free stuff is just a waste of HD space. Where are the good deals we were expecting, like 33% off of SF2 HD or M vs. C 2? Maybe they'll get better. . .

Am I mistaken, or is all you are getting, a static picture that shows up in the background? It's astounding that they normally charge for that. For free, though, sure it's fine.
